Duet Night Abyss Rhythm guide — skills, introns, and how to unlock
Duet Night AbyssWhat Rhythm does, how her Sanity loop works, and where to farm unlocks.
Rhythm is an Electro, Skill DMG-focused unit who fights with a katana and an assault rifle. Her kit revolves around spending Sanity to generate Electric Energy, then cashing that resource in to supercharge her mobility skill and chain area damage through a unique Positive/Negative charge system. She scales notably with Intron levels, landing around A-tier at base and climbing to top-tier when fully slotted.
Rhythm’s core kit (how the loop works)
Volt Rush (Skill — DMG): a forward leap that damages enemies along its path. If Rhythm has at least 30 Electric Energy, Volt Rush consumes 30 to increase leap speed and skill damage, and it grants a short, sizable self damage bonus. The move also benefits from her Sanity/Energy loop described below.
Electro Vortex (Ultimate — Buff): activates a pulsing field that deals immediate area damage and enters Electro Surge, continuously draining Sanity until canceled or Sanity hits zero. While in Surge, Rhythm and nearby teammates gain movement speed, and once per second a random enemy in range is struck and tagged with alternating Positive and Negative charge, prioritizing targets that aren’t already charged.
Electric Charge mechanics: a target with one polarity will, every three seconds, pick a target with the opposite polarity within range, pulling both toward the midpoint and dealing Electro damage. If there’s no opposite polarity target, the charged enemy pairs with a random target for damage. Reapplying the same polarity refreshes duration and prevents the opposite polarity from being applied while active.

Passives that fuel the loop:
- Tactical Preservation: when Sanity is spent, a percentage is converted to Electric Energy (starts around a third at low level and can reach full conversion at max), capped at Max Sanity.
- Poweroff Anxiety: when Electric Energy is spent, 50% of that amount is restored back as Sanity.
- Thundering Nightbreaker: when Rhythm is slotted as a Combat Partner, she provides a strong ATK buff to herself and nearby Electro allies.
In practice, Electro Vortex establishes control and crowd pull via charges while Tactical Preservation builds Energy from the ongoing Sanity drain. You then spend that Energy on Volt Rush to secure burst damage and a temporary self damage amp, with Poweroff Anxiety softening the Sanity hit so the field stays up longer.

Skill details (at a glance)
| Skill | Cost | Key effects |
|---|---|---|
| Volt Rush (Skill — DMG) | Sanity: 20; Electric Energy: consumes 30 if available | Leaping line attack; enhanced version increases leap speed and damage; grants a short self damage buff. |
| Electro Vortex (Ultimate — Buff) | Sanity: 10 + 20 per second while active | Immediate AoE hit then Electro Surge: periodic damage each second, movement speed to Rhythm and allies, and alternating Positive/Negative charge application with pull-and-burst behavior. |
| Tactical Preservation (Passive) | — | Converts a portion of Sanity spent into Electric Energy (scales up to full conversion at max level; Energy cap equals Max Sanity). |
| Poweroff Anxiety (Passive) | — | Restores 50% of Electric Energy spent back as Sanity. |
| Thundering Nightbreaker (Passive — Partner) | — | When deployed as a Combat Partner, boosts ATK for Rhythm and nearby Electro teammates. |

Introns (constellation-style upgrades)
| Intron | Effect |
|---|---|
| I1 | Electric Charge explosions deal AoE damage in a 3m radius. |
| I2 | On death, a target’s Electric Charge transfers to another random enemy within 20m, preserving remaining duration. |
| I3 | Volt Rush +2 levels; Tactical Preservation +1 level. |
| I4 | Starts battle with Electric Energy equal to 50% of Max Sanity. |
| I5 | Electro Vortex +2 levels; Tactical Preservation +1 level. |
| I6 | Electro Surge strikes two enemies per second instead of one. |
With Intron 6, Surge doubles its per-second targets, drastically increasing the tick pressure and the frequency of charge interactions. This is where Rhythm’s ranking typically jumps into top-tier for sustained encounters and add-heavy rooms.
How to play Rhythm (rotation and priorities)
- Open with Electro Vortex to establish Electro Surge and start the Sanity-to-Energy conversion loop.
- Use Volt Rush once you have at least 30 Electric Energy to trigger its enhanced state and secure the self damage buff window.
- Stay within Surge range to keep applying alternating charges; let charge pairs pull enemies together for easier melee confirms and AoE ticks.
- Leverage Poweroff Anxiety to extend uptime: spending Energy via enhanced Volt Rush returns Sanity, buying more Surge seconds.
- As a Combat Partner, Rhythm provides a significant ATK aura to Electro allies, making her a strong backline buffer even when she’s not on-field.

How to unlock Rhythm (Secret Letters and Thoughts)

- Play requirements: Covert Commissions are set to level 40. Progress the story and build your starter before farming.
- Secret Letters: exchange 10 Secret Letter Clues for one Secret Letter. Clues come from the main story, side quests, daily/weekly tasks (dailies grant 15), and endgame modes.
- Weekly sources: Nocturnal Echoes bosses (launch window pools include Rhythm), Mystic Maze (30 Clues weekly), and Immersive Theater (up to 280 Clues per refresh).
- New character flow: fresh releases spend 28 days featured in Immersive Theater before joining Nocturnal Echoes, then the shop.
If you’re starting from scratch, download the game from the Epic Games Store to begin the story and unlock Covert Commissions: Duet Night Abyss on Epic Games Store.

Cosmetics, pity, and what applies to Rhythm
Skins are obtained in the Myriad cosmetic gacha. Limited outfits use Prismatic Hourglasses, standard outfits use Pristine Hourglasses. There’s a 10-pull purple guarantee and a hard pity at 90 pulls that grants 25 Iridescent Prisms (redeemable for the featured skin). Gold-rarity items, including featured outfits and large Prism bundles, have a 0.3% drop rate. Some seasonal skins are sold directly without gacha.
Separately, Rhythm has a universal “Starlit” cosmetic available via the cosmetics shop, and unlocking her grants the “Silent Sentinel” backpiece accessory.
