How new characters roll out — and how to target them

Characters and weapons are not locked behind gacha. They’re earned through play, primarily via Secret Letters and the Covert Commission system.

  • Secret Letters: Exchange 10 Secret Letter Clues to create one Letter. Use Letters to claim rewards after Covert Commissions.
  • Covert Commissions: Repeatable missions (Character, Weapon, Demon Wedge categories). All are set at level 40; objectives rotate hourly.
  • Unlocking: After a Commission, choose one of three items from a fixed loot pool. Character Thoughts are the key drop; 30 Thoughts unlock a character.
  • Introns: Post‑unlock power spikes that require more Secret Letters to obtain, similar in concept to constellations in other RPGs.

Where to farm Clues and Letters at launch:

  • Main story and major side quests: Efficient early supply of Secret Letter Clues.
  • Nocturnal Echoes (weekly bosses): Weekly Secret Letters tied to the newest characters.
  • Mystic Maze (roguelike): 30 Secret Letter Clues per week.
  • Immersive Theater (timed mode): Up to 280 Secret Letter Clues per refresh.
  • Dailies/weeklies: 15 Secret Letter Clues per day from routine objectives.

New character cadence:

  • First 28 days: Secret Letters for the newest character appear as featured rewards in Immersive Theater.
  • After 28 days: Their Letters move into the Nocturnal Echoes weekly boss pool.
  • Later: Their Letters are added to the shop for Clue exchange.

At launch, Psyche is the featured Immersive Theater character with 65 Secret Letters available there and 50 for her signature weapon. During the same window, Nocturnal Echoes weekly bosses reward Letters for Tabethe, Truffle and Filbert, Yale, and Rhythm.

Note: Commission rewards present three items; gold‑tier drops such as 10 Thoughts are rare (10% per reward slot). Plan for multiple runs to hit 30 Thoughts for a specific unlock.

Cosmetics, banners, and pity (skins only)

Skins and cosmetics use a separate gacha called Myriad. Characters and weapons are not part of it.

  • Banners: Limited and standard cosmetic banners.
  • Currency: Prismatic Hourglasses (limited) and Pristine Hourglasses (standard). Earned via events and log‑ins; purchasable with paid currency.
  • Baseline pity: One purple‑rarity item every 10 pulls.
  • Hard pity: 25 Iridescent Prisms at 90 pulls; the featured skin costs 25 Prisms in the Prism Exchange.
  • Rates: 0.3% for gold‑rarity items (featured outfit, a 25‑Prism bundle, or a rarer 50‑Prism bundle).
  • No soft pity; pity progress does not carry between banners.
  • Direct‑purchase skins: Seasonal paid outfits are available; a Christmas‑themed cross‑character skin debuts at launch with a low starter price.

What to watch next

The near term is all about the November content drop and the ongoing Immersive Theater/Nocturnal Echoes cycle for new characters. If you plan to target fresh releases, clear Immersive Theater with top ratings during that 28‑day window. If aesthetics are your priority, track Myriad’s limited banner for seasonal outfits and remember the 90‑pull Prism guarantee.
