EA FC 26 handles FUT Birthday players differently from standard promo items. These cards arrive without any PlayStyles or PlayStyle+, and the only way to assign them is through the FUT Birthday Bakery in Ultimate Team.
FUT Birthday Bakery rules
The Bakery is a dedicated Evolution set for FUT Birthday player items. Once you have an eligible FUT Birthday card in your club, open Evolutions and use one of the Bakery tabs to start assigning PlayStyles.

The base PlayStyles tab is effectively the open part of the system. You can keep using it to fill out the card’s regular PlayStyle slots. The two PlayStyle+ tabs are more restricted, either by cooldown or by cost.
Which FUT Birthday cards can use the Bakery
The Bakery only works with FUT Birthday Player Items. Icons and Heroes are excluded, and FUT Birthday cards must still have their original FUT Birthday rarity to stay eligible.

If a FUT Birthday card no longer shows its original rarity, treat it as ineligible for Bakery use. The system is tied to the actual FUT Birthday item type, not just the look of the card.
How to add PlayStyles to FUT Birthday players
Step 1: Get an eligible FUT Birthday player item into your club. That can be a card pulled from packs, or one bought from the Transfer Market.
Step 2: Open Ultimate Team and go to Evolutions. The FUT Birthday Bakery tabs appear there as separate options for base PlayStyles and PlayStyle+.
Step 3: Start with the PlayStyles Bakery if you want to build out the card’s standard traits. You can apply up to eight base PlayStyles from the outfield pool.
Step 4: Move to the PlayStyle+ Bakery when you want premium traits. You can add up to two PlayStyle+, either through the free tab if the cooldown is available or through the Premium tab if you want to pay coins or FC Points.
Step 5: Confirm the Evolution choice. Once the FUT Birthday player is enrolled in any Bakery Evolution, the card becomes untradeable permanently.
The clearest sign that it worked is simple. The card will no longer be tradeable, and its PlayStyles or PlayStyle+ will appear on the item after the Bakery process is applied.
What changes after you use the Bakery
The biggest change is ownership status. A FUT Birthday player that goes into the Bakery is locked to your club for good, even if you originally bought it on the market.
That matters most for expensive cards. If you want resale flexibility, do not use the Bakery on a player you may want to move later. Once the PlayStyles are assigned through this system, the card is no longer market inventory. It becomes part of your club build.
How many PlayStyles a FUT Birthday card can have
The normal ceiling inside the Bakery is eight base PlayStyles and two PlayStyle+. That gives FUT Birthday players a blank-canvas setup, unlike standard special cards that arrive with fixed traits already attached.
Some lower-rated FUT Birthday items can also fit into certain non-Bakery Evolutions that add PlayStyles. For FUT Birthday cards rated 88 or lower, that can create extra flexibility beyond the core Bakery slots.

That is why lower-cost FUT Birthday options can be more efficient than headline stars. A solid center back with pace and defending already in place can become far more valuable once you add Intercept+, Jockey, Block, and Bruiser. The same applies to a versatile midfielder who already has good movement and passing lanes but needs role-specific PlayStyles to feel complete.
In practice, flexible cards with usable face stats are the cleanest Bakery investments. Expensive cards still work, but they also carry the biggest risk once they become untradeable.
