EA FC 26 Showdown tracker — cards, rules, and first upgrades
EA FC 26How live Showdown SBCs work this year and who’s already been upgraded.

Showdown returns in EA FC 26 with live items that hinge on real match results. Each release pairs two players from opposing sides of an upcoming fixture, offered as separate, time-limited SBCs. The twist this season: wins now trigger a smaller Overall boost but add a new Role upgrade that changes how the player behaves on the pitch.
EA FC 26 Showdown upgrade rules
- Win: +1 OVR and Role++
- Draw: Role++ for both items
- Loss: No change
The reduced win boost — down to +1 OVR — slows the early power curve. Role++ is applied on top of the overall rating change for winners, and it’s the only change on a draw. In knockout rounds, there are no draws: one item receives the win upgrade, the other gets nothing.
When upgrades apply and how to get the cards
- Two SBCs — one per team — go live at least 48 hours before the match.
- You can complete either SBC or both, as long as the challenges are open.
- After the match, items are updated a short time later with the appropriate result-based changes.
These items are designed to be usable out of the gate, with a possible bump after the result posts. If you back the losing side, the card remains at its base version.

Confirmed head-to-heads and upgrades so far:
Player | Club | Positions | Base OVR | Match result | Upgrade | Role++ |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Nicolas Pépé | Villarreal | RM / RW / ST | 82 | Villarreal 1–0 Athletic Club | 83 (+1 OVR) | Applied |
Yuri Berchiche | Athletic Club | LB / LM | 82 | Villarreal 1–0 Athletic Club | No change | Not applied |
Note: Item stat lines shift in line with the new OVR where applicable. Role++ is applied separately and does not raise OVR on its own.
What Role++ actually changes
Role++ is a gameplay-side upgrade that improves a player’s positional understanding and movement for their designated role. It’s not a chemistry or traits toggle, and it doesn’t add raw pace or shooting directly. Think of it as a behavior boost that makes the item act more intelligently within its assigned responsibilities.
Choosing a side: what to consider
- Base usability: Make sure the player fits your squad even if the result goes against them.
- Result risk: Wins are worth +1 OVR this season; draws are Role++ only. Losing means no change.
- Availability window: SBCs are time-limited and tied to specific fixtures, so plan your fodder and coins accordingly.
Expect new head-to-head releases throughout the season. If you prefer certainty over prediction, you can complete both SBCs when available — you’ll lock in at least one live item with a chance of an upgrade, at the cost of more club resources.
