Escape From Duckov: Collect Samples in Space Storm quest guide

The “Collect Samples in Space Storm” quest is one of Escape From Duckov’s first true stress tests. It asks you to enter a live Space Storm on the Farm Town map and collect samples from a Plastic Barrel positioned on a hilltop. The task sounds simple; the storm isn’t. Storm damage ramps fast, enemies inside resist conventional bullets, and your protection windows are limited. Here’s how to prepare, get in, interact with the barrel, and get out.

Quest details and where to start

Field Detail
Quest name Collect Samples in Space Storm
Quest giver Xiaoming (Bunker)
Requirement Head into the storm for the first time
Map Farm Town
Objective Collect samples using the Plastic Barrel at the hilltop

Pick up the quest from Xiaoming, then plan your run for a period when the Space Storm is active. The objective only progresses while the storm is actually raging.

Essential gear for Space Storm runs

Survival in the storm hinges on two things: permanent baseline protection from armor and short, timed immunity windows from injectors. If you intend to fight, you’ll also need a weapon that can hurt storm enemies.

Item What it does How to get it
Space Protection Suit Provides armor and storm protection to reduce ambient storm damage. Complete Jeff’s Biological Investigation questline to unlock purchase at Xiaoming’s shop; the suit can also be found in the 3‑Lab Red Room with the proper access keycard.
Space Protection Helmet Head protection plus storm protection; pairs with the suit for better survivability. Unlocked through the same quest chain and sold at Xiaoming’s shop; blueprint paths are tied to follow‑up quests in that chain.
Space Storm Protection Injector (Weak variants included) Grants a short‑duration buff that keeps you alive inside an active storm. Earned via Mud’s “Storm Resistance” and “Walking Delicacy” quests, which award multiple shots and enable buying more. Use them only while the storm is active to activate the effect.
Electrified MP7 (example of effective weapon) Deals damage to storm enemies that shrug off normal bullets. Unlocked by defeating the Speedy Commander in the Warehouse area.
Tip: Injectors create a limited window. Bring more than one and time your approach so you’re not stuck mid‑interaction when the buff expires.

Route to the barrel and how to interact safely

Once the storm is up, head to Farm Town and chart a direct route to the hilltop marker. The Plastic Barrel at the top is the collection device for this quest.

  • Before you leave cover near the hill’s base, use a Space Storm Protection Injector to start your protection window.
  • Sprint the final stretch, minimize detours, and avoid engagements unless you’re carrying a weapon that works inside the storm.
  • At the Plastic Barrel, interact to collect samples. Stay mindful of your injector window; if it’s close to expiring, step back to safety and reapply before finishing the interaction.
Note: The injector’s buff only applies if activated during an active storm. Using it too early (outside the storm) won’t give you the protection you need when you enter the zone.

Contingencies if enemies block the hilltop

Storm enemies often resist standard ammo. If the hill is contested and you don’t have a compatible weapon, prioritize stealth and speed over a firefight. Use line‑of‑sight breaks, sprint between solid cover, and commit to the interact prompt as soon as you’re within reach of the barrel.

If you do carry a suitable weapon, clear only what’s necessary to create a short, safe window for interaction—your injector timer is the real boss here.

Extracting and turning in

Once the sample collection completes, leave the storm the same way you came, then extract or return to the bunker. Head back to Xiaoming to wrap up the quest. If you used multiple injectors or burned through healing, restock before your next storm run—later storm tasks assume you’ve built up both gear and consumables.
