Prepare your loadout (keep it light and focused)
Bring a Wooden Stick and at least one Melee Injector. You’ll need to trigger the Strength effect and land all five Scavenger kills with the stick while that effect is active. Pack a small medical kit for sustain — a hemostatic like Herat stops bleeding — and a couple of basic heals. Since kills must be melee, firearms are optional; if you carry one, keep it holstered for emergencies only.
Armor can be light; speed and stamina matter more for closing distances and disengaging. Keep your inventory clear so you can loot without getting stuck mid-raid.
Where to find Scavengers and how to fight them
You can complete this on any map. Early on, Ground Zero reliably spawns rampaging Scavengers in small camps and along paths. They favor close-quarters aggression, which suits the Wooden Stick requirement. Avoid armored gunfighters until after the five-kill objective is done.
- Pull one at a time. Small stones can lure enemies and break up groups, making safe, single-target stick fights more manageable.
- Manage stamina. Sprinting and rolling consume stamina; always leave enough to dodge a counter or create space if adds show up.
- Use corners and cover. Fight near obstacles to reset aggro cones and block line-of-sight from other patrols.
Time your Strength window and sequence the kills
The cleanest way to satisfy both objectives is to stack all five Wooden Stick kills inside a single Strength window:
- Scout a route with at least five Scavenger targets you can isolate in sequence. Thin nearby ranged enemies first if they threaten the route.
- Trigger the Melee Injector to activate Strength, then immediately begin your pull chain.
- Keep momentum. The Wooden Stick is low damage, so aim for hit consistency rather than big trades. Roll through whiffs, re-engage, and finish quickly.
- If adds arrive, kite around objects to desync them and resume single-target trades. Do not swap off the stick for the five required kills.
If your Strength window ends before five kills, you can safely extract and try again rather than risking gear — Mud’s completion check is strict about the Wooden Stick and active Strength.
Practical route to first completion (early game)
From the bunker, enter Ground Zero and head toward a small Scavenger camp. Clear any armored shotgun users nearby first without spending your injector. When you’ve identified five melee Scavengers you can chain, pop your Melee Injector and start the run:
- Open with pulls using stones to avoid a multi-enemy brawl.
- Use short sprints into quick combos, then roll to avoid retaliation and reset your spacing.
- Keep moving toward the next isolated Scavenger; don’t stop to loot until all five kills are done during Strength.
Once you’ve confirmed the fifth Wooden Stick kill under Strength, disengage and exfiltrate. Don’t linger; the quest progress won’t improve beyond the five required targets.

Turn in and what unlocks next
Return to Mud at the bunker to hand in Drug Experiment and collect your rewards: 1,800 EXP, 500 Currency, and two Hardening Injectors. This turn-in also unlocks the Hardening Injector for future use. Completing Drug Experiment may lead into Mud’s melee-focused follow-ups, which build on the same stick-and-buff loop.
For future corpse runs, keep a dependable weapon and solid armor in your base stash. If you go down, this saves time and gets you back to your gear quickly.
