Every Boss Fight in Resident Evil Requiem, From The Girl to Victor's Final Form

Quick answer: Resident Evil Requiem features around ten boss encounters in total, though seven of those are considered major standalone fights. The majority are fought as Leon, while Grace handles The Girl (also called the Shadow Ghost) and one of the two Chunk brothers.

How Boss Fights Work in Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem splits its campaign between two playable characters — DSO agent Leon Kennedy and FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft — and the boss encounters reflect that divide. Grace's sections lean toward stealth, puzzle-solving, and resource scarcity, so her boss fights tend to reward evasion and environmental awareness. Leon carries heavier firepower, including shotguns, revolvers, and the Hatchet melee weapon, which means his encounters are more traditional shoot-and-dodge affairs with parry windows baked in.

Beyond the named bosses, the game also throws several dangerous special infected at you throughout the campaign. Blister Heads are reanimated zombies with faster, more erratic attacks. Singers screech to disorient Grace and throw off her aim. Chainsaw Charlies can bisect Leon outright if you're not careful. And Lickers return from earlier entries, complete with wall-crawling and a tongue lash that Leon can parry with his Hatchet. These aren't true bosses, but they can be just as deadly if you're caught off guard.

The Girl / Shadow Ghost — Grace's Recurring Nightmare

The very first boss you face is a ghoulish, long-haired creature that haunts the Rhodes Hill Care Center. The Girl is attracted to sound and vulnerable to light, which makes the encounter more about movement and environmental manipulation than raw damage output. She appears multiple times during Grace's chapters, lurking in shadows and dropping from ceiling holes.

Her final confrontation takes place in the Water Treatment Facility, where you need to restart three power distribution units and open a retractable roof to flood the area with sunlight. Industrial work lights and the Requiem revolver can stun her while you operate the machinery. Once the shutter opens, she melts — whether or not you fire a finishing shot.

Chunk — The Mutated Brothers

Chunk is actually two bosses: a pair of grotesquely oversized, mutated brothers encountered at different points in the Care Center. The first brother is fought as Grace. You can take him down with three Hemolytic Injectors, or lure him into a corridor he can't squeeze through and unload Requiem shots at his head. Killing him as Grace completes the "Grace and Goliath" challenge and rewards a unique charm.

The second Chunk is Leon's problem. This fight takes place in a cramped attic where you can climb ladders and interact with objects to block his path. The MSBG 500 pump-action shotgun, found just outside the boss room, is the ideal weapon here. Despite the tight quarters, there's enough verticality to stay mobile and whittle him down.

Blister Borne — The Orange Cyst Monster

Leon encounters these bulky, tumor-covered monstrosities in the Care Center Chapel and later in the East Raccoon City Sewage Facility. The key mechanic is destroying the orange, cyst-like growths all over the creature's body. There's a catch, though: the tumors emit toxins that cause nearby dead zombies to immediately mutate into Blister Heads. You'll want to lure the Blister Borne away from any downed enemies before targeting its weak points.

Titan Spinner — The Giant Spider

One of the game's most visually striking fights pits Leon against a massive spider in the NF Building in East Raccoon City. The Titan Spinner is extremely mobile, scurrying along walls and disappearing from view before reappearing from unexpected angles. It also summons tiny spiderlings that can jump onto Leon's face and temporarily immobilize him.

Gas tanks scattered around the multi-level arena can be shot to deal heavy damage when the spider gets close. The Requiem revolver is effective for stunning it in a pinch. Stay on the move, clear the spiderlings with Hatchet swipes, and grab ammo from the upper floors before the spider destroys the ladders. Worth noting: Resident Evil Requiem does not include an arachnophobia mode.

Mr. X / Super Tyrant — A Resident Evil 2 Callback

Leon runs into a new and improved variant of the classic Tyrant inside the Raccoon Police Department. The RPD section is essentially an escape sequence — you need to get to the second floor and evade Mr. X's attacks, including one where he swings a helicopter tail rotor.

The real boss battle happens in the open area outside RPD. Mr. X rushes Leon frequently, and parrying these charges with the Hatchet is the most reliable way to create openings. Watch for him climbing onto cars — he'll throw vehicles at you. Focus fire on the exposed heart on his chest. Supply boxes around the perimeter of the arena provide enough resources to sustain the fight if you manage your inventory carefully.

Victor and Mutant Hounds — The Motorcycle Chase

After defeating the Titan Spinner, Leon hops on a motorbike and heads toward the city center. Mutated dogs ambush him on the road, and you'll need to shoot them while riding. Victor Gideon then gives chase on his own motorcycle, turning the sequence into a vehicular boss fight. It's the easiest "boss" in the game — essentially a point-and-shoot segment that lasts about a minute — but it serves as a fun action set piece and a breather before the heavier encounters ahead. Save your ammo for what comes next.

Plant 43 — Deep in Blackthorn Station

Near the entrance to the Ark, Leon faces a giant three-headed plant monster. Plant 43 has a main central bulb flanked by two smaller heads on either side. The side heads periodically snap at Leon, so you'll need to strafe laterally to avoid them. The central bulb opens its petals intermittently — that's your window to deal significant damage to the main weak point.

Once you've weakened Plant 43 enough, fuel tanks beneath it become exposed. Shooting these incinerates the boss. The fight rewards patience and positioning over brute force, though its wide-reaching attacks can punish you hard if you miss a parry on its unavoidable slam moves.

The Commander — Close-Quarters Combat in the Ark

The Commander is an Umbrella Security Service operative who bears a strong resemblance to the fan-favorite character Hunk, though the game only refers to him by his title. This fight is entirely melee-focused. Firearms are essentially useless here — you need to master the parry timing with Leon's Hatchet to stagger the Commander and follow up with slashes.

In the second phase, he throws smoke grenades to obscure his movement before striking. Stay ready to deflect. When he grabs Leon by the neck, you'll need to pass a quick-time event, or Leon dies instantly. Defeating the Commander rewards the Mortal Edge melee weapon, which is worth picking up before moving on to the final gauntlet.

Victor Gideon — The Final Boss (Two Phases)

The game's climactic fight depends partly on which ending path you've chosen, but the core encounter is the same. Victor Gideon fights Leon in two distinct phases as the Ark facility collapses around them.

Phase 1 has Victor lashing out with tentacle tendrils that can be parried. He periodically jumps to the arena's edge and channels electricity along a glowing line on the ground — move out of its path immediately. Right after that attack, he leaps and slams down on Leon's last position, so keep moving. Stay at medium range, pepper him with shots, and punish his recovery windows. Stock up on all the ammo you can find in the arena before finishing him off, because Phase 2 follows immediately.

Phase 2 transforms Victor into a Nemesis-like monstrosity with massive arms and wide sweeping ground pounds. Glowing pustules appear across his body — shoot these to stagger him. Additional pustules then emerge on his base, which you can destroy quickly with grenades or automatic weapons. Repeat this cycle until a QTE sequence triggers where Victor grabs Leon. Pass the prompt to break free, then use the Hatchet to chop his core and end the fight.

Tip: Sharpen your Hatchet during any downtime in Phase 2. The parry mechanic is critical for surviving Victor's wide sweeps, and a dull blade won't cut it.

Emily — A Tragic Mid-Game Encounter

One boss that's easy to overlook in lists is Emily, Grace's companion through much of the Care Center. After Grace fails to revive her, Emily mutates into a monster, and Leon steps in to put her down. It's a brief, emotionally charged fight that serves more as a narrative turning point than a mechanical challenge, but it's a full boss encounter nonetheless.

Resident Evil Requiem's boss roster blends franchise nostalgia — Mr. X, Plant 43, a Nemesis-style final form — with new threats like The Girl and the Chunk brothers. Most of the heavy lifting falls on Leon's shoulders, but Grace's encounters offer a distinctly different survival horror flavor. Once you've cleared them all, New Game Plus and Insanity Mode are waiting if you want a rematch under tougher conditions.
