Every boss in Code Vein 2 and where to find them

Bosses in Code Vein 2 are one-off, high-stakes encounters that gate major story beats and dungeon progress. Each has its own arena, timeline context, and reward, and none of them respawn once defeated.

Quick info: Code Vein 2 has a fixed set of bosses that appear only in main-story progression and dungeon routes. The tables below list every named boss, grouped by type, with their region, exact arena, associated era, and any unique rewards they drop.

Boss rules in Code Vein 2

Boss encounters in Code Vein 2 follow a few consistent rules that apply to all of the fights listed later on.

Boss identity is always clear: entering a fog gate in a dungeon starts a boss encounter immediately, and any boss (including those without a fog gate) is marked by a large boss health bar at the top of the screen.

Bosses do not respawn. Each boss is tied to either the main story or a specific dungeon progression. Once you defeat a boss, that encounter cannot be repeated on that save file, and you cannot re-enter that timeline instance to refight it.

Bosses can be staggered and stunned. Repeated attacks can interrupt a boss’s actions, and a full stagger can lead to a stun window. During that stun, a charged heavy attack triggers a short cutscene attack that deals a large burst of damage.

Phases are possible but not universal. Some bosses maintain the same move set throughout the fight. Others, like Josee the Blind Hero, transition into a second phase where existing attacks hit harder and additional attacks are added.

All bosses overview

The lists below cover every named boss in Code Vein 2, grouped in three practical categories:

  • Story bosses – required fights tied directly to major story chapters and key characters.
  • Dungeon bosses – bosses at the ends of dungeons and dungeon-like areas, often rewarding specific Formae or items.
  • Special / field-style bosses – one-off bosses that are not inside a standard dungeon layout but still occur in the overworld as unique encounters.

“Timeline” refers to the era shown in the game’s time-travel structure (for example, Assault on MagMell Era or The Present).

Special bosses and overworld-style encounters

Some bosses sit outside classic dungeon structures. They are still one-time encounters with full boss health bars and unique drops, but they are accessed from more open areas.

How to recognize and prepare for any boss fight

Every boss listed above follows the same structural rules, so a few checks let you know exactly what you are walking into and how to confirm that the encounter is complete.

Step 1: Before crossing a fog gate or suspicious threshold in a dungeon, rest at the nearest Mistle. This restores your HP and Ichor and gives a chance to adjust weapons, Blood Codes, and Formae around the expected damage type or ailments in that area.

Step 2: Watch for the boss health bar. As soon as the name and large health bar appear at the top of the screen, you are in a boss encounter; the boss’s defeat and associated reward will trigger only when that bar is fully depleted.

Step 3: Use stagger and stun windows. Continual offense can stagger bosses. When a boss is stunned, commit to a fully charged heavy attack to trigger the high-damage cut-in; this is a core mechanic across all boss fights rather than a one-off gimmick.

Step 4: Confirm completion. After the boss dies, the arena returns to normal exploration state, and the unique reward listed in the tables is granted immediately. That reward, plus the absence of fog and boss health bar on returning to the arena, is the confirmation that the encounter is permanently cleared.

Step 5: Remember that bosses are single-run only. There is no built-in method to refight a defeated boss within the same timeline on that save file, so any farming of their rewards is inherently limited to first clear and potential future cycles rather than repeatable summons.

With the tables and shared rules above, you can verify every boss encounter in Code Vein 2: where it appears, when in the timeline it occurs, and what you gain for clearing it.
