Every Crimson Desert Trophy and What You Need to Unlock Them

Every Crimson Desert Trophy and What You Need to Unlock Them

Crimson Desert launched on March 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and its trophy list has already earned a reputation for being deliberately vague. Pearl Abyss wrote every achievement description in a poetic, riddle-like style that obscures the actual unlock conditions. Now that players have had time with the game, the real requirements are much clearer — and they're almost entirely tied to the in-game Challenges system.

Quick answer: Crimson Desert has 35 trophies on PS5 (including the Platinum) and 34 achievements on Xbox and PC, worth 1,000 Gamerscore. Every single one requires completing a specific category of Challenges, which are unlocked by finding Sealed Abyss Artifacts in the open world. Expect well over 150 hours to earn them all.

How the Challenge System Controls Every Trophy

Trophies in Crimson Desert are not awarded for arbitrary milestones or random collectibles. Instead, each trophy maps to a Challenge category found under Journal > Challenges. These categories span exploration, weapon mastery, combat, trade, story progression, and more. Completing every challenge within a category pops the corresponding trophy.

Challenges themselves are gated behind Sealed Abyss Artifacts — items scattered throughout Pywel's open world. Each artifact you pick up unlocks one challenge, and the challenge's requirements only become visible after you've found it. Critically, most challenge progress does not count retroactively. If you defeat 50 enemies with a sword before finding the sword challenge artifact, those kills won't count. The exception is certain cumulative stat-based requirements.

⚠️
Find Sealed Abyss Artifacts as early as possible. They sit along roads and appear as purple icons on the minimap when you're nearby. Use the sword's Guiding Light ability (L1+R1 on PlayStation, LB+RB on Xbox, or Ctrl + Left Click on PC) to spot a blue glimmer when one is close.

A practical first step is to unfog the entire map by activating all eight hidden bells scattered across Pywel, picking up fast travel points (Abyss Nexus locations) along the way. This makes hunting artifacts and completing challenges far more efficient later.

Exploration Challenges Breakdown

The exploration side of the challenge system is enormous. It includes 40 Abyss restoration challenges, 60 secret places (tracked under "Wandering Footsteps"), 37 ancient ruins puzzles ("The Thread in the Forest"), and 8 spire challenges ("Land Meets Sky"). Exploration challenges tied to open-world puzzles — often marked by a white question mark icon on the map — do not require Sealed Abyss Artifacts to begin. You can stumble into them naturally while roaming Pywel.

Some exploration and spire challenges are gated behind story progression, so you won't be able to finish every category until you've advanced far enough in the main quest line. The same applies to certain Abyss challenges and minigame locations.

Weapon Mastery Challenges Breakdown

Each weapon type has its own set of challenges, all filed under the "Mastery" tab and sourced from Sealed Abyss Artifacts labeled "Goyen's Advice." The number of challenges per weapon varies slightly.

Weapon TypeNumber of Challenges
Sword6
Shield6
Bow6
Spear5
Two-Handed Weapon6
Cannon (Artillery)5
Rapier and Shield5
Gun (Firearms)5
Special Weapons/Equipment10
Horse10

Completing every challenge in a single weapon category earns the matching "Master of…" trophy. Finishing all mastery challenges across every weapon and the horse category earns the "Unvanquished Strategist" trophy. Remember that progress only starts counting after you've picked up the relevant Sealed Abyss Artifact, so grab those early.

Story-Related Trophies

Three trophies are tied directly to main quest progression and are essentially unmissable if you play through the story. "Novice Adventurer" pops after completing Chapter 1. "Protector of Pailune" unlocks after finishing Chapter 7, which involves defeating the Black Bears and the Jackals factions. "Expert Storyteller" requires completing every main quest in the game.

Two additional trophies are linked to camp milestones. "Master Camper" triggers when you activate the camp at Howling Hill, which happens relatively early. "Proud Returnee" unlocks when you relocate the camp to Pailune, which comes later in the story.

Tips for Efficient Trophy Completion

The single biggest time-saver is collecting Sealed Abyss Artifacts before you start grinding any combat or exploration content. Since most challenge progress is not retroactive, every enemy killed or location discovered before finding the associated artifact is wasted effort toward that challenge.

💡
Check your challenge progress regularly under Journal > Challenges. Each completed challenge also rewards Abyss Artifacts (skill points) and other items, so you're building character power at the same time.

Minigame challenges work a bit differently — they unlock when you interact with a minigame location for the first time, rather than through Sealed Abyss Artifacts. Some minigame locations only become accessible later in the story, so don't worry if the "True Gamer" trophy seems incomplete early on.

You cannot earn the Platinum in a single playthrough. The sheer volume of challenges — spanning weapon mastery, exploration, story completion, trade, combat operations, and more — demands well over 150 hours of play. Patience and systematic artifact collection will save you from having to repeat large chunks of the game.
