Every Sailor Piece Trait Ranked From Best to Worst (February 2026)

Traits in Sailor Piece are passive stat bonuses assigned to your character that directly affect damage output, defensive scaling, and cooldown reduction. They're one of the most impactful mechanics for build optimization, and landing a top-tier trait can dramatically accelerate your progression through late-game content and boss fights. The difference between a Common trait and a Secret-rarity trait is enormous — we're talking the gap between a 1.05x damage multiplier and a 2.20x one.

Quick answer: The best traits in Sailor Piece are Celestial (2.20x Damage, 1.65x Defense, 30% cooldown reduction), Singularity (2.10x Damage, 1.75x Defense, 30% CDR), Cataclysm (2x Damage, 1.7x Defense, 30% CDR), and Overlord (1.9x Damage, 2x Defense, 25% CDR). All four are Secret rarity. Among Mythic traits, Malevolent is the strongest.

S Tier — Secret and Mythic traits that define the meta

The four Secret-rarity traits occupy the absolute top of the hierarchy. Celestial holds the highest raw damage multiplier in the game at 2.20x while still providing a solid 1.65x defense boost and 30% cooldown reduction. Singularity trades a small amount of that damage ceiling for better defensive scaling at 1.75x, making it slightly more forgiving in prolonged boss encounters. Cataclysm sits right between them as a reliable all-rounder with 2x damage, 1.7x defense, and the same 30% CDR that makes ability spam viable.

Overlord takes a different approach. Its 2x defense multiplier is the highest of any trait, paired with 1.9x damage and 25% cooldown reduction. If you're running a survivability-focused build or tackling content where staying alive matters more than burst, Overlord is the pick.

The three Mythic-rarity traits that round out S tier are Malevolent (1.80x Damage, 1.50x Defense, 20% CDR), Transcendent (1.75x Damage, 1.65x Defense, 20% CDR), and Infinity (1.70x Damage, 1.60x Defense, 20% CDR). All three provide meaningful boosts across every stat category and pair well with any build archetype. Malevolent edges ahead thanks to its higher damage ceiling.

A Tier — Strong alternatives you shouldn't reroll away from immediately

Godspeed is a Mythic trait with a notable quirk: its 25% cooldown reduction matches Overlord's, but its damage multiplier drops to 1.55x. That CDR makes it feel smooth in practice, especially for builds that rely on rapid ability cycling, though the raw damage gap compared to S tier is noticeable in late-game grinding.

Sovereign leans heavily into defense at 1.85x — second only to Overlord — with a respectable 1.65x damage multiplier. The trade-off is a lower 15% cooldown reduction, which limits ability spam. It's a strong mid-game trait that keeps you alive through tougher content while you farm for a Secret-rarity replacement.

The three Legendary traits in this tier — Genesis (1.40x Defense, 1.40x Damage, 15% CDR), Dominator (1.45x Defense, 1.50x Damage, 10% CDR), and Unstoppable (1.70x Defense, 1.45x Damage, no CDR) — are solid stepping stones. Genesis and Dominator offer balanced scaling that works from early through mid-game. Unstoppable's high defense makes it useful for survivability builds, but the complete lack of cooldown reduction holds it back from competing with anything above it.

B Tier — Functional for early and mid-game progression

The Epic traits — Overdrive, Ascended, and Breaker — occupy a middle ground where they're noticeably better than starter traits but fall short of anything you'd want to keep long-term. Overdrive's 10% cooldown reduction gives it a slight edge over its peers. Ascended provides the best damage in this sub-group at 1.40x but lacks any CDR. Breaker is the defensive option here with 1.55x defense, making it workable for players who keep dying to bosses.

The Rare traits (Sharpened, Vicious, Predator) and the Uncommon Driven trait fill the rest of this tier. Sharpened stands out with 1.35x damage despite only 1.10x defense — it's a glass cannon option for early-game players who want to clear mobs faster. Vicious and Driven both offer small 5% cooldown reduction bonuses that provide marginal quality-of-life improvements. Predator's 1.30x damage with 1.15x defense is decent but unremarkable.

C Tier — Replace these as soon as possible

The bottom five traits provide minimal stat improvements that become irrelevant once you reach mid-game. Balanced and Steady are both Uncommon rarity and offer nearly identical stat profiles — small, flat boosts to damage and defense with no cooldown reduction. The difference between them is negligible in practice.

Agile is an odd case. It provides a 10% cooldown reduction but zero damage and zero defense multipliers. That makes it technically useful for ability cycling in very early content, but the complete absence of combat stats means you'll feel weaker than players running almost any other trait.

Strong and Tough are the two Common-rarity traits, and they're what you start with before rerolling. Strong gives a tiny 1.15x damage and 1.05x defense bump. Tough flips those priorities slightly with 1.15x defense and 1.10x damage. Neither makes a meaningful difference past the first few zones.

How to reroll traits in Sailor Piece

You can change your trait by using Trait Reroll items. These drop from regular enemies and bosses throughout the game, though boss kills tend to yield them more frequently. Each reroll randomly assigns a new trait, so landing a Secret-rarity trait like Celestial or Singularity requires patience and a healthy stockpile of reroll items.

Trait Rerolls are among the most in-demand items in the game's trading economy. If you're actively farming for them, prioritize boss encounters — they offer better drop rates than standard mobs and also reward other valuable materials like Race Rerolls and Boss Tickets.

Why cooldown reduction matters so much

The gap between 0% and 30% cooldown reduction is massive in practice. At 30% CDR, you can cycle through your full ability rotation significantly faster, which directly translates to higher sustained DPS during boss fights and more efficient mob clearing during grinding sessions. This is why all four Secret-rarity traits include either 25% or 30% CDR — it's the stat that separates good traits from great ones.

For builds centered around high-burst Melee Specs like Anos or Gilgamesh, or top-tier Swords like Shadow Monarch and Rimuru, cooldown reduction amplifies the already-powerful AoE abilities these weapons and specs provide. Pairing Celestial with a race like Slime (for Sword builds) or Servant (for Melee builds) creates one of the strongest overall setups currently available in the game.

Trait scaling in Sailor Piece is mostly linear — higher rarity almost always means better stats. The exceptions are traits like Godspeed, which trades raw damage for extra CDR, and Sovereign, which sacrifices cooldown for exceptional defense. Outside of those edge cases, your goal should be straightforward: reroll until you land a Secret or high-end Mythic trait, and build everything else around it.
