Aera is an outlaw bounty target in Crimson Desert's Pailune region, and she's earned a reputation as one of the most frustrating targets to locate. A notorious grave robber accused of digging up graves she has no connection to, Aera doesn't sit still — she actively moves between multiple locations depending on the in-game time of day. Bringing her in alive nets you nine silver and a contribution boost for the Pailune region.
Quick answer: Head north from Pailune Town toward Valgrind Tomb between 6 AM and 10 AM in-game time. Look for Aera hiding in the tall grass near a fallen tree along the northern route. If she's not there, check inside Pailune's gates slightly southwest of the Saddlery between 11 PM and 3 AM.

Unlocking the Aera bounty
You won't have access to Aera's bounty until you've completed Chapter 7 and started Chapter 8 of the main story. These chapters open up the Pailune region, and once you arrive, the bounty appears in your Journal under the Pailune Militia quest section. Before you can begin tracking Aera, you need to physically collect her Bounty Bill from one of the bounty boards scattered around Pailune — look for the purple scroll icons on your minimap near bulletin boards, poles, and walls throughout town.
Aera's primary location near Valgrind Tomb
The bounty poster marks Aera's last known position north of Pailune Town, near Valgrind Tomb. This is her most reliable spawn point and makes thematic sense — she's a grave robber, and Valgrind Tomb is a major point of interest visible on the world map. To reach her, exit Pailune through the northern route and follow the path toward the tomb. Along the way, you'll pass underneath a fallen tree. Aera hides in the tall grass patches in this area, wearing a cloth mask over her face in typical graverobber fashion.
The best window to find her at this location is between 6 AM and 10 AM in-game time. If she doesn't appear immediately, crouch in the tall grass and wait. She may take a few minutes to show up. Some players have also spotted her walking along the road between Pailune's entrance and the tomb itself, seemingly heading toward the grave site. Others have found her standing at the entrance to Valgrind Tomb early in the morning, replacing the two guards who are normally stationed there.

Aera's alternate location inside Pailune
Here's what trips most players up: Aera doesn't always stay near the tomb. She wanders, and her patrol route can take her well inside Pailune's walls — roughly 500 meters from her marked map position. If you've been circling Valgrind Tomb without luck, head back into town and check the area just southwest of the Saddlery, inside the gate.
| Location | Best Time (In-Game) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tall grass north of Pailune, near fallen tree | 6 AM – 10 AM | Primary spawn; crouch and wait if she's not visible |
| Valgrind Tomb entrance | Early morning | Sometimes replaces the usual guards |
| Road between Pailune and the tomb | Varies | Can be seen walking toward the tomb |
| Inside Pailune, southwest of Saddlery | 11 PM – 3 AM | Alternate spawn; near the northern gate |
Multiple players have confirmed finding Aera near the Saddlery between 11 PM and 3 AM, sometimes walking through the northern gate with non-hostile companions around 11 PM. Unlike most bounty targets that stay close to their marked area, Aera has significantly more freedom of movement, which is why the save-and-reload trick that works for other bounties tends to be unreliable here.

Capturing Aera and delivering her alive
Step 1: Once you spot Aera, approach her carefully. Like all bounty targets, she'll bolt the moment she notices you. Sprint after her and press the tackle button prompt to bring her down.
Step 2: After tackling her, punch her a couple of times. She'll drop a note confirming her identity as your target. You'll then see a prompt to tie her up.
Step 3: Carry Aera to your horse and place her on the mount using the on-screen prompt. Ride back to the Pailune Militia prison to turn her in. Avoid enemy-heavy areas on the return trip — if your horse takes too much damage and bucks, both Kliff and the prisoner will fall off, and you'll need to pick her up again.

Reward for completing the Aera bounty
Delivering Aera alive to the Pailune Militia earns you nine silver and increases your regional contribution for Pailune. If she dies during capture or transport — whether from combat damage, drowning, or any other cause — you'll only receive half that amount. The contribution boost applies regardless of whether the target survives.
Aera stands out among Crimson Desert's bounty targets because the game genuinely expects you to think like a bounty hunter. Her identity as a grave robber points you toward Valgrind Tomb, but her wandering behavior means you may need to stake out multiple locations across different times of day. If you've been stuck circling the tomb marker for an hour, checking inside Pailune's gates late at night is almost certainly the answer.
