Finding the Demonic Queen Spider in The Forge’s Raven Cave

The Demonic Queen Spider is one of the standout enemies on The Forge’s third island, Frostspire Expanse. It sits at the top of the Demonic Spider family and is tied directly to the Raven questline, which makes it important even if you are not hunting spiders for profit.

Requirements to reach the Demonic Queen Spider

The Demonic Queen Spider does not appear in the early islands. It only spawns inside Crimson Depths, also known as the Raven Cave, in Frostspire Expanse.

To even step into that cave, a few conditions have to be met first:

  • Reach at least level 70. The Raven questline and Frostspire Expanse content expect a late‑game character with decent stats and gear.
  • Unlock Frostspire Expanse using the portal tool, so you can travel to the third island where the Raven content is located.
  • Advance the Raven quest to its second stage. The Raven Cave remains locked until that stage is completed.

Inside Frostspire Expanse, the entrance to the Raven Cave sits in the spider-focused region, often referred to as the Red Cave or Crimson Depths. Regular Mini Demonic Spiders and Demonic Spiders are always present there once you have access; the Queen is layered on top of that enemy pool as a special spawn.

How to unlock the Raven Cave

Before worrying about spawn rates, you need the cave itself open. The Raven NPC chain is what provides the key.

Step 1: On Frostspire Expanse, go to the area beside the standard Spider Cave. Near that spot, look for a Raven NPC. Speak with it to start the initial Raven task, which revolves around killing spiders, mining pebbles, and delivering a specific ore.

Step 2: Complete the requested kills and gathering, then return to the Raven to hand in the items. This finishes the first stage and sets up the next location.

Step 3: Head toward the central forge area on the island. Move past the tank-like structure and go behind the main forging setup. The Raven appears here again and now asks for more spider kills and a Snow White ore.

Step 4: Once you provide what it asks for, the Raven gives you the key that unlocks the Raven Cave. From this point on, you can enter Crimson Depths whenever you want.

Where the Demonic Queen Spider spawns

The Demonic Queen Spider exists only inside Crimson Depths, the Raven Cave in Frostspire Expanse. Inside that cave, enemy composition works in layers:

  • Mini Demonic Spider and Demonic Spider appear consistently.
  • Demonic Queen Spider is a rare spawn layered on top of those baseline enemies.

The Queen does not have a fixed spawn point that is always active. Instead, it can appear in place of other demonic spider enemies. In practice, that means you may walk into the cave and see only regular spiders for a while.

To increase your chances of seeing it:

  • Clear every enemy in sight. Wiping the room forces the game to refill the spawn slots, which can roll the Queen.
  • Repeat full clears. If the Queen still does not appear, keep cycling through kills until a spawn wave includes it.
  • Use a private server if possible. Joining your own instance and rejoining repeatedly lets you reset the cave state until you load into a run where the Queen is present.

Players often refer to this area as the Red Cave because of its color palette. If you are in Frostspire Expanse, underground, surrounded by ominous red-lit tunnels with demonic spiders, you are in the right place.

How the Demonic Queen Spider behaves in combat

The Demonic Queen Spider is positioned as the toughest variant of the Demonic Spider family. Its health pool can range roughly from 13,500 up to around 24,750, depending on scaling. Even so, its move set is simple enough that a properly geared character can handle it reliably.

Key behavior patterns to expect:

  • Opening web projectile. At the start of the fight, the Queen launches a web ball toward you while knocking itself backward. The projectile is straightforward to dodge with a sideways movement or a dash.
  • Close-range leg swipes. After the first shot, it tries to close the gap and deal damage with its legs. These melee swings are dangerous if you stand still in front of it but are easy to play around if you stay mobile and circle the boss.
  • Occasional non-aggressive behavior. Sometimes the Queen can spawn in a glitched state and simply not attack. In that case, you can safely burst it down, but you should still treat the encounter as if it might wake up mid-fight.

The main threat comes from underestimating its raw stats. It has one of the higher health pools among enemies on Frostspire Expanse, so weak weapons and low-tier armor will drag the fight out and make every mistake harsher.

The surrounding content targets characters around level 70 and above, and the Queen is tuned to that environment. Entering Crimson Depths significantly under-leveled or wearing early-island gear turns the fight into a grind.

For smoother runs, aim for:

  • Late-game armor. Sets built from strong Frostspire ores or other high-tier materials provide enough defense to safely tank the Queen’s melee swings and occasional mistakes when dodging the web ball.
  • High-damage weapons. Weapons on par with other third-island gear let you chew through 13,500–24,750 health quickly instead of slowly shaving it down.
  • Synergistic race choice. Races like Demon or Angel offer boosts that help with damage output and survivability, which pairs well with the Queen’s high health and the density of other spiders nearby.
Tip: Even if you are comfortable with the base enemies in Frostspire Expanse, re-evaluate your loadout before targeting the Queen. It hits harder than the regular spiders and often spawns in the middle of a busy cave where stray projectiles and other enemies add up.

Rewards for killing the Demonic Queen Spider

The Demonic Queen Spider primarily pays out in essences, XP, and cash. A typical kill grants:

  • Essences: Greater Essence, Superior Essence, or Epic Essence as loot.
  • Experience: roughly 350–700 XP per kill.
  • Currency: around 950–1,900 in-money rewards.

On its own, this payout is respectable but not exceptional when matched against how rarely the Queen appears. That rarity is the main reason it is not recommended as a primary farming target for money or essences.

How the Demonic Queen Spider fits into the Raven quest

The most important reason to hunt the Demonic Queen Spider is its role in the Raven questline. One of the later steps in that chain requires you to kill a Demonic Queen Spider inside Crimson Depths.

Completing that quest step is not optional if you want the associated rewards. Once you successfully defeat a Queen and hand in the objective, you unlock the Berserker Armor recipe, a significant gear upgrade for characters that favor aggressive play.

In practical terms, that means every player who cares about the Raven content or about late-game armor will have to fight the Queen at least once, even if they ignore it afterwards.

Is the Demonic Queen Spider worth farming?

Despite its strong stats and status in the enemy roster, the Demonic Queen Spider is not a top-tier farm target.

There are two main reasons:

  • Low spawn frequency. The Queen’s rare spawn rate means long stretches of regular spider clearing before you see one, especially on a busy public server where other players are also cycling the cave.
  • Average rewards per time spent. While 350–700 XP, 950–1,900 money, and mid- to high-tier essences look solid on paper, the time needed to force spawns through repeated clears or server hopping reduces its practical efficiency compared with more consistent enemies and dedicated money-making routes.

Where the Queen does make sense is in two scenarios:

  • Quest progression. You must kill at least one Demonic Queen Spider to clear the third part of the Raven quest and unlock the Berserker Armor recipe. That single kill is mandatory for anyone invested in that questline.
  • Incidental clearing during ore runs. If you are already mining ores inside the Red Cave, the Queen becomes a priority threat whenever it appears. Killing it prevents interruptions while you farm and provides a burst of XP and loot on top of your ore income.

If your only goal is to stack money or essences as fast as possible, focus elsewhere and treat the Demonic Queen Spider as an occasional bonus. If you are pushing Raven content or already living in Crimson Depths for ores, it is a target you should learn to handle cleanly.

Once you have the Raven Cave unlocked, the rest is repetition and awareness. Clear the Crimson Depths regularly, watch for the distinctive Demonic Queen Spider model among the other demonic spiders, and stay mobile to dodge the web ball and leg swipes. One clean kill is enough to satisfy the Raven quest and secure the Berserker Armor recipe; anything beyond that is a choice about how you want to spend your time on Frostspire Expanse.
