Fish It rod tier list and how to get every rod

Fishing in Roblox’s Fish It is defined by your rod. Luck controls how often rare fish appear, Speed dictates how long you wait for bites, and Weight decides how big a catch you can actually pull in. The difference between the Starter rod and a late‑game Mythic like Angler or Ghostfinn is the difference between pocket change and serious money.

Fish It rod tier list (free and quest rods)

Tier lists in Fish It skew toward late‑game efficiency: high Luck, high Speed, and enough Weight capacity to handle the heaviest fish in each zone. Secret and Mythic rods top the rankings, followed by powerful Legendary and Epic options.

Tier Rods
S+ Element rod
S Bamboo rod, Ghostfinn rod, Angler rod
A Astral rod, Ares rod, Hazmat rod
B Steampunk rod, Lucky rod, Midnight rod, Chrome rod, Fluorescent rod
C Demascus rod, Grass rod, Ice rod
D Toy rod, Luck rod, Lava rod
F Starter rod, Carbon rod

Gamepass rods such as Angelic, Gold, and Hyper sit roughly in the mid tiers by raw stats; they are strong early accelerators but outclassed later by high‑end free rods and the Element rod.

Best rods for each stage of Fish It

The ideal rod changes as you move through the islands. Some tools are free and efficient for their bracket, while others are pure late‑game flex picks.

Early game: escaping the Starter rod

Early on, the priority is getting off the Starter rod as quickly as possible and into something that lets you see rare fish at all.

  • Lava rod is the best early free upgrade. You get it from the Lava Fisherman NPC at Kohona Volcano, and it comes with more Weight capacity than most early rods, which makes it a strong starting point for money farming.
  • Luck rod is a cheap store option with 50% Luck, which helps rare fish show up, but it has a tight Weight cap and only 2% Speed.
  • Demascus rod has the highest early Luck and a 400 kg Weight cap, but it is noticeably slow to fish with.
  • Ice rod trades some Luck for better Weight and Speed, making it a comfortable beginner choice for heavy catches at Stingray Shores.

At this stage, rods like Carbon and Toy are strictly temporary. They add a small bump to Luck and Speed, but get outclassed the moment you step into Uncommon or Rare territory.

Mid‑game: value rods that carry progression

Once you can afford Rare and Epic rods, the game opens up. These are the tools that carry you through most of the index and set you up for late‑game Mythics.

  • Lucky rod specializes in rare fish. Its 130% Luck makes it ideal for farming enchant stones and filling out the Stingray Shores index, though the low Weight cap holds it back on larger zones.
  • Midnight rod offers more Weight and smoother reeling than Lucky, with enough Luck to remain relevant well into the mid‑game. It is more expensive but slots neatly before Epics.
  • Steampunk rod is a workhorse with 175% Luck and around 25k Weight. It is a staple money‑farming rod; the main drawback is a mediocre Speed stat.
  • Chrome rod is the heavy‑fish specialist. With 229% Luck and extremely high Weight (around 190k), it shines when you are targeting big catches and late‑game zones, but can feel sluggish without a Speed‑oriented enchant.
  • Fluorescent rod is a budget Legendary at roughly 715k coins, with 300% Luck and 160k Weight. Its 23% Speed makes it the slowest Legendary, which is why it sits behind Astral and Hazmat.

For most players, a path of Lava → Lucky → Steampunk or Chrome provides strong value without over‑investing before you can touch Legendary and Mythic gear.

Late game: Legendary, Mythic, and Secret rods

Late‑game rods push Luck into the hundreds of percent and Weight into the hundreds of thousands of kilograms. They are expensive or quest‑locked, but they decide how quickly you clear the toughest islands.

  • Astral rod is the entry Legendary. It sells at the main shop for around 1 million coins and comes with 350% Luck and 43% Speed. With strong enchants, it can compete with cheaper Mythics, but it has been toned down compared to earlier balance.
  • Hazmat rod costs a similar amount to Astral but shifts emphasis toward Weight, making it better for rare, heavy catches. Its Speed is lower than Astral’s, but enchants can patch this up.
  • Ares rod is a 3 million Mythic from Tropical Grove that can catch every rarity. It has solid base Luck and Speed, but only feels worth its price once you invest in enchants.
  • Angler rod sits at the top of the standard Mythic pool. Available for about 8 million coins on Lost Isle, it packs 530% Luck and 71% Speed with excellent Weight, and it scales hard with enchants such as Empowered or Leprechaun.
  • Ghostfinn rod is obtained from the Deep Sea questline. It has some of the highest combined stats in the game and can comfortably handle every fish type without needing enchants, with especially high Speed and Weight.
  • Bamboo rod drops from the Ancient Jungle and is currently the most expensive standard rod at around 12 million coins. Its 760% Luck and 98% Speed put it just below Element in raw strength, and with the right enchants it can rival the Secret tier.
  • Element rod is the Secret rod at the top of the ladder. It requires completing the Element quest in the Underground Cellar on Ancient Jungle and rewards 1111% Luck, 130% Speed, and the highest Weight stat in Fish It.

Past Astral and Hazmat, every high‑tier purchase is about long‑term goals. If you want an all‑rounder that feels good everywhere, Angler and Ghostfinn are the safest Mythics. If you want the absolute ceiling for stats and are willing to grind, Element is the end point.

A simple progression covers the entire game without wasting many coins on sidegrades.

  • Early game – Starter → Lava or Luck → Demascus or Ice as needed.
  • Early‑mid – Lucky rod to push rare fish and enchant stones.
  • Mid‑game – Steampunk for general farming, then Chrome if you are targeting heavier fish.
  • Late‑mid – Astral or Hazmat as your first true endgame‑capable rod.
  • Mythic step – Ares if you want a cheaper Mythic, otherwise skip straight to Angler.
  • High end – Ghostfinn or Bamboo as your main late‑game workhorse.
  • Final goal – Element rod once you are ready for the Element quest grind.

Tip: stretching one good mid‑tier rod a bit longer is often better than buying every incremental upgrade. That keeps your savings intact for transformative buys like Astral, Hazmat, or Angler.

Best baits and enchants to pair with your rods

Rods set the baseline; bait and enchants push them over the top.

Best bait in Fish It

Bait Effect Cost
Dark Matter Bait +160% Luck, +5% EXP, +10% shiny chance 630k coins
Aether Bait +240% Luck, +20% mutated chance, +20% shiny chance 3.70 million coins

Dark Matter Bait is ideal for leveling and general grinding, while Aether Bait is made for event windows and late‑game hunts for the rarest, heaviest, or mutated fish.

Best enchants for Fish It rods

Enchant Effect
Empowered I +20% Rod Luck, +10% Speed
Leprechaun I +30% Rod Luck
Leprechaun II +50% Rod Luck
XPerienced I 1.5x EXP from every fish caught
Big Hunter I +10% fish size
Reeler I Reel in fish 7% faster

Leprechaun I/II and Empowered are the most impactful universal picks because they stack directly with late‑game Luck and Speed. Big Hunter I and Reeler I are best on rods like Chrome, Hazmat, and Ghostfinn where Weight and Speed are central to their role.

Gamepass rods: where they fit

Angelic, Gold, and Hyper rods exist mainly to smooth out the early and mid-game if you are willing to spend Robux. They offer better Luck and Speed than commons and uncommons, but fall short of the top free rods:

  • Angelic rod at 180% Luck and 29% Speed is roughly comparable to weaker mid‑tier Epics and sits around the C/B tier in overall value.
  • Gold rod and Hyper rod sit closer to low Rare rods on stats and are quickly replaced by Lucky, Midnight, or Steampunk.

If you already own them, they are excellent stepping stones into the Chrome/Astral bracket. If not, saving coins for strong free rods like Lava, Lucky, Steampunk, and Hazmat remains a fully viable path.

Once you understand where each rod fits in the progression, planning upgrades becomes much easier. Focus on one or two core tools per stage, invest in key enchants, and reserve your biggest coin spends for rods that dramatically change your catch rate, such as Hazmat, Angler, Ghostfinn, Bamboo, and ultimately the Element rod.
