Fortnite OG Ice Storm Event — Exact Start Time and What to Expect

Fortnite OG Season 7 is recreating one of the most memorable moments from Chapter 1, and a countdown timer is already ticking in the lobby. The Ice Storm live event brings the Ice King back to the island for a dramatic, map-altering spectacle — and this time around, players who missed the original 2019 version finally get their shot.

Quick answer: The Fortnite OG Ice King live event starts on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM GMT. You must be in an OG Battle Royale or OG Zero Build lobby to participate. Log in and queue up at least 30 minutes before the event begins.

Ice Storm event start times by region

Epic Games confirmed the event for 2:00 PM Eastern Time. The in-game countdown timer in the Fortnite OG main lobby reflects this. If the event mirrors its original 2019 counterpart, the aftermath — a fully snow-covered map — should persist for roughly 10 days, potentially ending around February 25.

How to join the Ice Storm live event

The event does not take place on the main Chapter 7 Battle Royale island. You need to specifically queue into OG Battle Royale or OG Zero Build to see it. Standard playlists won't show the event.

Plan to be logged in and sitting in the lobby no later than 1:20 PM ET. Live events in Fortnite historically lock matchmaking shortly before the scheduled time, and latecomers risk being shut out entirely. Once you're in a match, you'll need to have landed on the island before the event kicks off at the top of the hour.

For the best vantage point, consider gliding from the Battle Bus toward Polar Peak. The Ice King's frozen orb is already hovering above the Polar Peak castle — directly above where the Infinity Blade spawns — and that's where the action will originate.

What happens during the Ice King event

The original Ice Storm event in January 2019 was one of Chapter 1's defining moments. An icy sphere that had been building above Polar Peak for weeks finally cracked open, revealing the Ice King. He channeled a massive spell that blanketed the entire island in snow and unleashed the Ice Legion — waves of Ice Fiends and other hostile creatures that attacked players on sight.

The Fortnite OG version is expected to follow a very similar structure, with a few twists. The Ice King will appear in a new remixed look tied to the ongoing Love and Legends Valentine's Day roadmap. After emerging from the orb, he'll charge up a devastating ice storm and release it across the OG map. Once the cinematic portion wraps up — likely lasting around five to six minutes — Epic will deploy a hotfix that locks in the map changes.

After the live event itself, the map should remain covered in snow. Standard playlists are expected to be temporarily replaced by the Ice Storm LTM, which scatters Ice Legion monster spawners across the island. These AI enemies create an additional layer of chaos on top of the usual player-versus-player combat. New quests and challenges tied to the Ice Storm are also likely to appear during the event's run.

Ice King Remix skin and Item Shop expectations

A remixed version of the Ice King outfit is expected to drop around the time of the event. Unlike some past OG event rewards, the Ice King Remix skin will most likely be an Item Shop purchase rather than a free unlock or part of the OG Pass. Epic has not confirmed a price, but it should appear in the shop on or near February 15.

What comes after the Ice Storm

The Ice Storm event effectively marks the climax of Fortnite OG Season 7. Once the event's aftermath wraps up, the next major OG update is expected to transition into OG Season 8, which originally brought a pirate theme, the Prisoner skin, and significant map changes to the Chapter 1 island. If Epic continues its current pacing, that transition should follow shortly after the Ice Storm's snow melts away.

Whether you experienced the original event seven years ago or this is your first time seeing the Ice King in action, make sure your schedule is clear on Sunday afternoon. These one-time live moments don't get replays.
