The Frost Cursed armor set is one of the most visually striking equipment collections in Crimson Desert, evoking a dark, imposing aesthetic that players have compared to iconic fantasy villains. The full set consists of five pieces — helmet, cape, gloves, boots, and chest plate — plus a matching two-handed sword called the Frozen Anguish. Every piece sits in the open world inside treasure chests, meaning you can grab them all without fighting a single boss.
Quick answer: Collect the cape from the Sanctum of Expiation, the helmet from the Chattering Rocks, the gloves from Lunar Spirit Grotto, the boots from the Well of Tragedy Grotto, and the chest plate from Mistshard Cave. The Frozen Anguish sword is inside the Spire of Frost. You'll need the Blinding Light / Focus Light abilities and the Stab skill to access most locations.

When to start collecting
While none of the pieces require combat, the locations sit in areas populated by higher-level enemies. Reaching the Deinis portion of the main story is a good benchmark for when you can safely travel to every chest. You can technically ride straight to each spot earlier if you're willing to dodge enemies, but having some progression under your belt makes the trip far less stressful.
Required abilities
| Ability | Used for |
|---|---|
| Blinding Light + Focus Light | Burning brambles blocking the cape and helmet chests |
| Stab (charged) | Breaking through waterfalls to reach the gloves, boots, and chest plate caves |
| Force Palm | Smashing the stone doorway inside Mistshard Cave to reach the chest plate |
If you don't have the Stab skill yet, you won't be able to enter any of the waterfall caves. Make sure it's unlocked before heading out on a collection run.

Frost Cursed Cape — Sanctum of Expiation
The Sanctum of Expiation may be crawling with enemies, but you don't need to clear them or solve the sanctum puzzle. Look for a doorway with a visible crack in the floor. Pass through it, and you'll see brambles blocking the path ahead. Use Blinding Light followed by Focus Light to burn them away, revealing a small crawl-through opening.
Once you're through, look to your right. Follow the corridor down and around — watch out for spike traps along the way — and you'll reach the chest containing the Frost Cursed Cape.

Frost Cursed Helmet — Chattering Rocks
Head down the road from the Sanctum of Expiation to the Chattering Rocks. The helmet is hidden behind another burnable bramble, this time covering the entrance to a small ruined structure. Burn the vines the same way you did for the cape, then open the chest inside to collect the Frost Cursed Helmet.

Frost Cursed Gloves — Lunar Spirit Grotto
The Lunar Spirit Grotto is a waterfall cave located northwest of Tariv. Stand near the waterfall entrance and charge your Stab attack (R1 + Triangle on PlayStation). The charged lunge will push you through the water. It's common to bounce off on the first attempt — charging the attack fully makes it more reliable.
Inside the cave, a single chest holds the Frost Cursed Gloves.

Frost Cursed Boots — Well of Tragedy Grotto
Southwest of Tariv, the Well of Tragedy Grotto works identically to the gloves location. Line up with the waterfall and use a charged Stab to break through. The large treasure chest inside contains the Frost Cursed Boots along with a Refined Palmar Pill, a consumable that fully restores your health.
An alternate way to obtain the boots is through a quest in Beighen, but the waterfall method is faster and doesn't require any combat or cold resistance.

Frost Cursed Chest Plate — Mistshard Cave
Travel north of Deinis to find Mistshard Cave, which is also behind a waterfall. Use the same charged Stab technique to enter. Once inside, you'll notice gold ore nodes scattered around — feel free to mine them while you're here.
The chest plate isn't sitting in the open, though. Look for a stone doorway deeper in the cave and use Force Palm to break through it. The chest on the other side holds the Frost Cursed Chest Plate alongside several ore nodes.

Frozen Anguish sword — Spire of Frost
The matching weapon for the set is the Frozen Anguish, a two-handed sword with the Stamina Siphon perk. It's located inside the Spire of Frost, roughly in the center of the map. The area is dangerous due to flying mages and extreme cold, so wearing the Frost Cursed armor pieces you've already collected is a smart move — the set provides high ice resistance.
Once you gain access to the tower and the door opens, walk forward and check underneath the staircase. The chest there contains the Frozen Anguish.

Stats, limitations, and things to know
The Frost Cursed set excels in ice resistance, making it especially useful in cold regions and when using ice elemental imbuement. However, the set has some notable drawbacks worth understanding before you commit to wearing it.
| Limitation | Details |
|---|---|
| No Abyss slots on the chest plate | The main armor piece ships with zero slots by default, and slots cannot be added through the witch NPC despite some early player speculation |
| Chest plate and cape cannot be refined | These two pieces are locked at their base stats and won't accept upgrades |
| Other pieces pre-refined to ~level 4 | The remaining armor pieces come at roughly four levels of refinement, making them solid for early and mid-game but eventually outclassed |
| Helmet doesn't combine with hooded capes | Unlike some other helmets, this one won't visually merge with hooded cape models |
The lack of Abyss slots on the chest piece is the biggest practical downside. Players hoping to use the set in endgame content will find it falls behind armor with proper slot support, such as the Armor of Shadows set. Whether the missing slots are an intentional design choice or a bug remains unclear.
Alternate method — Defeating Beloth
Later in the game, around Chapter 8, a boss named Beloth appears wearing the full Frost Cursed set. Defeating Beloth rewards a complete duplicate of the armor — helmet, chest plate, boots, gloves, and cape — even if you've already looted individual pieces from the open world. The exact trigger for Beloth's appearance isn't fully understood yet, but progressing deep into the story seems to be the requirement.

The Frost Cursed set remains one of the most sought-after cosmetic collections in Crimson Desert, and the fact that every piece can be picked up through pure exploration makes it accessible surprisingly early. Its ice resistance alone justifies wearing it through the mid-game, even if the missing upgrade paths mean you'll eventually swap to something with better long-term scaling.
