Gleebous mutation in Fisch: Exact location and fastest way to farm it

The Gleebous mutation is one of the key roadblocks in Fisch’s Glorp Alien questline, especially if you want to progress Dr Crookspine and work toward the Blade of Glorp rod. It only drops from a very specific patch of water, and it behaves like a mutation on any eligible fish rather than a separate species, which can make it feel random if you do not know where to stand and what to equip.

Where Gleebous mutation fish actually spawn

Gleebous mutation only appears on fish caught in the waters around Roslit Bay. The relevant fishing hotspot is centered on the following coordinates:

Coordinates: -1441.2, 133, 262.9

This coordinate cluster covers the water on both sides of the crashed UFO near Roslit Bay. Any eligible fish you hook in this zone has a chance to roll with the Gleebous mutation.

You can reach this spot efficiently in two ways:

  • Use an in-game GPS and punch in the coordinates above to navigate directly to the Gleebous fishing zone.
  • Head toward Roslit Bay and walk to the crashed UFO, then position yourself so you are casting into the surrounding water on either side of the wreck.

Once you are in range, the mutation chance applies to fish hooked in this entire area; you do not need to stand on a precise pixel, but staying close to the coordinate center keeps you inside the intended zone.

Using Fish Radar to confirm the Gleebous area

If you have Fish Radar unlocked, it can visually confirm that you are in the right place for the Gleebous mutation.

Step 1: Enable Fish Radar from your usual menu or hotkey so that nearby fish regions are highlighted on your screen.

Step 2: Move into the Roslit Bay UFO zone around -1441.2, 133, 262.9. Look for an area shaded in a light green tint, similar to the UFO beam color.

Step 3: Cast only into the water covered by that light green overlay. That zone indicates an abundance of fish that can carry the Gleebous mutation.

Staying within that highlighted patch cuts down on wasted casts outside the mutation-eligible region.

How Gleebous works as a mutation

Gleebous is not its own fish species; you can see the line before you reel in. It behaves as a mutation roll that applies to fish caught in the Roslit Bay UFO waters. You still hook regular fish, but a subset of those fish will carry the Gleebous mutation tag that Dr Crookspine is looking for.

Two important constraints shape how you farm it:

  • Location-locked: Only fish caught in the Roslit Bay UFO region can roll Gleebous. Casting elsewhere will never produce the mutation.
  • No appraisal drops: Gleebous cannot be obtained from the Appraiser. Buying, appraising, or rerolling fish will not generate this mutation, so totems and money are better spent elsewhere.

Because of this, any efficient route for Gleebous comes down to maximizing the volume of fish you catch in that one stretch of water and leaning on tools that increase mutation odds.

Fastest way to farm Gleebous mutation (Mutated enchant)

Catching one Gleebous fish is straightforward if you are patient, but parts of the Glorp questline ask for multiple Gleebous mutations. The quickest way to stack them is to add the Mutated enchant to your rod before heading to Roslit Bay.

Mutated is a regular enchantment that boosts your chance to roll mutations on fish you catch. You do not need any special or cosmic relics for it.

Step 1: Acquire normal enchant relics. If you are short, visit Merlin in-game and purchase standard enchant relics from their shop.

Step 2: Choose any rod you are comfortable fishing with and apply relics until you get the Mutated enchant on that rod. The enchant does not need to be on a specific endgame rod to work.

Step 3: Travel to Roslit Bay and move into the UFO water zone at -1441.2, 133, 262.9.

Step 4: Fish repeatedly in that exact area using the Mutated rod. With Mutated active, Gleebous mutations show up significantly more often, and players commonly see one within a handful of casts.

Tip: You can use Mutated on a midgame rod if that is all you have. The enchant’s effect on mutation rate matters more than raw rod rarity for this specific task.

Best rods to catch Gleebous mutation quickly

Any rod can technically catch Gleebous as long as you are fishing in the right region, but some options pull ahead when you want to grind multiple mutations in a short window. High lure and progress speed help you cycle casts faster, which means more mutation rolls per minute.

Rod Key stats for Gleebous farming Who it suits
Fabulous Rod 100% Lure for reliable bites in seconds. Endgame players at level 1000+ who have cleared all Fabulous Deity quests.
Dreambreaker Rod 120% Lure plus a notable progress speed boost, so fish resolve almost as soon as you cast. High-level players looking for a balanced mix of bite speed and reeling speed.
Wind Elemental Rod 555% Lure and an extra 50% progress speed boost, making it one of the fastest options for cycling catches. Players who already own this elemental rod and want the most aggressive Gleebous farm.

For pure Gleebous efficiency, a strong rod with no conflicting passive mutation effects is ideal. Combine that rod with the Mutated enchant and park yourself in the Roslit Bay UFO waters; most of your time will then be spent reeling in valid Gleebous-eligible fish rather than waiting for bites.

Why you need Gleebous for Dr Crookspine and Glorp content

Gleebous mutation sits at the center of the Glorp Alien update’s early progression. It is required by Dr Crookspine as part of the translator-related questline and is one of the materials tied into earning the Blade of Glorp rod.

Because of that, treating Gleebous as a one-off novelty drop is a mistake; you will likely need several copies to fully clear the quest objectives. Planning an efficient farm around the Roslit Bay UFO zone and a Mutated rod saves a significant amount of time, especially if you are juggling Advent calendar check-ins and other seasonal events.

Once you have caught the required number of Gleebous mutation fish, hold onto them for Dr Crookspine rather than selling or appraising them. They are single-source items, and replacing them means repeating the entire Roslit Bay farm.

In practical terms, the loop is simple: set up a rod with Mutated, travel to Roslit Bay’s crashed UFO at -1441.2, 133, 262.9, confirm the light-green Fish Radar zone if you have it, and cycle as many casts as possible. The combination of a high-lure rod and the mutation-focused enchant turns a slow, luck-driven task into a short, predictable farm that clears Dr Crookspine’s demands and moves you one step closer to Blade of Glorp.
