Golden Body core stats and effect

Golden Body is categorized as an Offensive / Support Mystic Skill, but its practical role is defensive: it absorbs damage, restores Qi, and grants toughness‑oriented buffs.

Parameter Base Value Tier 4 Value Notes
Type Offensive / Support Offensive / Support Supports both survival and aggressive play by keeping you alive while attacking.
Tag Shield Shield Interacts with any mechanics that scale off shields.
Vitality Cost 60 50 Tier 4 breakthrough lowers the cost by 10.
Cooldown 20s 20s Remains constant across tiers.
Duration 8s 10s (with Tier 2) Base duration is 8 seconds; Tier 2 adds 2 more seconds.
Qi Recovery 10 Qi over duration 10 Qi over duration Refills a noticeable amount of Qi while active.
Damage Reduction 15% 25% (with Tier 2) Applies while the shield holds; Tier 2 adds 10 percentage points.
Other Buffs Fortitude Fortitude Fortitude improves your ability to withstand stagger and pressure.

When activated, your character takes on a “golden body” stance: shoulders relaxed, posture straight, and wrapped in an indestructible shield for the duration. While the shield remains intact, you gain:

  • A large damage‑absorbing shield.
  • Ongoing Qi recovery (10 Qi across the full duration at Tier 4).
  • Fortitude, making you harder to interrupt.
  • Flat damage reduction (15%, rising to 25% with breakthroughs).
Note: If the shield breaks early, the damage reduction and fortitude stop immediately, so timing the skill before or during heavy bursts of damage matters more than simply using it on cooldown.

Golden Body breakthrough tiers and materials

Like other Mystic Skills, Golden Body progresses through Ranks and Tiers. Ranks mostly increase raw effectiveness, while Tier promotions bolt on new mechanics or economic tweaks.

Golden Body tier bonuses

Tier Bonus Group Effect
Tier 1 Base scaling Rank 0–9 improve the general strength of Golden Body (shield and related stats) without adding new mechanics.
Tier 2 Defense Boost
  • Damage reduction from Golden Body increases by 10 percentage points.
  • Skill duration extends by 2 seconds.
  • While Golden Body is active, any shield that expires (including your own) converts 50% of its remaining value into HP.
Tier 3 Team Shield Strategy
  • If your Essence is over 100 and allies are nearby, the skill additionally spends 40 Essence.
  • Golden Body gains a 10‑second extra cooldown when this team effect triggers.
  • Your Perception stat is converted into an area‑of‑effect shield for allied players near you.
Tier 4 Energy Efficiency Vitality cost is reduced by 10 points, bringing the skill from 60 down to 50 Vitality.

The Tier 2 HP conversion is the key turning point for survivability. While Golden Body is active, every shield that falls off effectively becomes a partial heal, including shields generated by other skills or gear. Tier 3 then pivots the skill into a group defensive tool, siphoning Essence to turn your Perception into a team‑wide barrier. Tier 4 closes the loop by making it easier to cast Golden Body frequently in long fights thanks to the cheaper Vitality cost.

Rank and tier upgrade costs for Golden Body

Upgrading Golden Body uses the same Ebon Iron and Jade Tower Pearl structure as other Tier 1 Mystic Arts. Ranks are the incremental upgrades within a Tier; Tier promotions unlock the bonus effects described above.

Tier Rank Range Materials per Rank / Promotion Notes
Tier 1 Rank 0–9 2 × Lv. 1 Ebon Iron for each rank Initial investment; all Mystic Arts must reach Rank 9 at Tier 1 before Tier 2 promotion.
Tier 2 Rank 0 promotion 5 × Jade Tower Pearl, 2 × Lv. 1 Ebon Iron Unlocks the Defense Boost package.
Tier 2 Rank 1–9 4 × Lv. 2 Ebon Iron for each rank Strengthens the skill further at its second tier.
Tier 3 Rank 0 promotion 15 × Jade Tower Pearl, 4 × Lv. 2 Ebon Iron Unlocks the team shield and Essence interaction.
Tier 3 Rank 1–9 10 × Lv. 3 Ebon Iron for each rank High material demands reflect the power of Tier 3.
Tier 4 Rank 0 promotion 18 × Jade Tower Pearl, 10 × Lv. 3 Ebon Iron Unlocks the reduced Vitality cost.
Tier 4 Rank 1–9 20 × Lv. 4 Ebon Iron for each rank Endgame investment to maximize the skill’s numbers.

Because higher tiers demand large amounts of Lv. 3 and Lv. 4 Ebon Iron, it is usually efficient to bring Golden Body to Tier 2 early if you rely on shields, then commit to Tier 3–4 once you have a stable supply of breakthrough materials.

Where Golden Body fits in your build

Golden Body shines in builds that already lean into shields and front‑line play. It is particularly strong on paths that:

  • Generate frequent shields from weapons, Inner Ways, or other Mystic Skills.
  • Value standing in melee range to maintain pressure.
  • Play alongside allies who benefit from additional AoE shielding at Tier 3.

The extra damage reduction and shield‑to‑HP conversion at Tier 2 make it a natural fit for tank‑style paths such as Stonesplit Path, where you are expected to soak pressure for the group. In that context, Tier 3’s Perception‑based team shield turns a self‑survival button into a group‑wide safety net, especially during boss mechanics that hit the entire party.

Golden Body’s Qi recovery also smooths out resource management. Instead of backing off after spending Qi on offense, you can cast Golden Body, survive the enemy’s retaliation, and come out with enough Qi to restart your rotation.

Lore flavor behind Golden Body

Golden Body is rooted in the martial Buddhist tradition of the Grand Imperial Temple. The skill’s backstory describes Master Huiyun meditating in front of a Maitreya statue as imperial power threatened Jianguo Temple. In that moment of crisis, a vision of dazzling golden light and resonant chants prompted the emperor to spare the temple and rename it Grand Imperial Temple.

During this meditation, Huiyun attained the Dharma of the “Imperishable Golden Body,” later sealing the technique within the temple’s Scripture Hall. Stealing the scroll from the training monk is effectively reclaiming that lineage of Buddhist martial arts, and every activation of Golden Body echoes that original vision: a brief, unshakable state where body and will become untouchable.

Used well, Golden Body is more than a panic button. It is a centerpiece defensive skill that turns precise timing and shield management into both personal safety and team‑wide protection.
