Gray Zone Warfare Don't Speak Quest — Both Note Locations and Rewards

Gray Zone Warfare Don't Speak Quest — Both Note Locations and Rewards

Don't Speak is an Artisan vendor task in Gray Zone Warfare that sends you to investigate a group of criminals who have gone silent. The quest area sits on the eastern edge of Lamang, near the Winchester Combat Outpost, and involves visiting two points of interest in sequence. It was reworked with the Spearhead 0.4 update, so even returning players need to complete it again after the progress reset.

Quick answer: Head to Sabai Lake Restaurant at roughly map coordinates 204, 154, and interact with the "Death Sentence" note on a green seat. Then travel southwest to Villa Vongphet near coordinates 200, 152, enter the smaller northeast building, and interact with the "Torturer's Notebook" to finish the quest.

Don't Speak objectives

Artisan's briefing tells you that a band of non-violent criminals he grew up with has stopped communicating. They normally operate near a lake south of Pha Lang, right beside the main road. The quest breaks into two objectives:

  • Investigate what happened to the criminals near the lake.
  • Search the villa southwest of Sabai Lake and find out what happened to the rest of the criminals.

Simply finding corpses at the scene will not advance the quest. You must interact with a specific note at each location.

Step 1 — Sabai Lake Restaurant note

Step 1: Follow the main road south from Pha Lang until you spot a small pond or lake directly beside the road. The Sabai Lake Restaurant is the large building right next to the water, around map coordinates 204, 154.

Step 2: Enter the restaurant and look for a dead woman near a white table with two white chairs. On a small green seat beside that table, you'll find a note titled "Death Sentence." The note reads: "Mercenary whores! This is what happens to all collaborators who betray their homeland!"

Step 3: Interact with the note to complete the first objective. A common mistake is walking past the corpses without checking the furniture — the quest will not update until you actually pick up or read the note.

Step 2 — Villa Vongphet notebook

Step 1: From Sabai Lake Restaurant, head southwest. Continue along the main road until you see a smaller road branching off into the jungle in an S-shaped curve. Follow that path to reach the Villa Vongphet compound, located near map coordinates 200, 152.

Step 2: The compound contains two buildings. You need the smaller structure positioned toward the northeast side of the compound — it looks like a shed or outbuilding. Enter it and locate the notebook titled "Torturer's Notebook" sitting inside.

Step 3: Interact with the notebook and read the transcript. The quest completes automatically once you do.

⚠️
This task appears to be faction-locked. Players on the Crimson Shield faction have reported being unable to interact with the notes. If you cannot pick up the first note at Sabai Lake Restaurant, confirm that you are playing as LRI and that the quest is active in your task log.

Don't Speak rewards

Reward Amount
USD $1,050
Experience 400 XP
Artisan reputation +100
7.62x54R Sniper Round (7N1) 40 rounds

Note that reward values may differ slightly depending on the current patch. Some players have reported higher experience and reputation payouts after the Spearhead 0.4 update, so the numbers you see in-game could be adjusted from the baseline figures above.

How to know the quest completed

After reading the Torturer's Notebook at Villa Vongphet, Artisan will deliver a voice line lamenting that you couldn't have saved his friends in time. Your task log will mark Don't Speak as finished, and the rewards will be credited immediately. If the quest does not update after interacting with the notebook, try relogging — interaction prompts occasionally fail to register on the first attempt in high-traffic areas.

With both notes collected, you're done. The 7N1 sniper rounds alone make this a worthwhile early-game errand, and the Artisan reputation opens the door to his later tasks.
