Halo Peak campaign and The Promised Light in Where Winds Meet

Halo Peak looks like it hides a straightforward boss arena. In reality, it’s the endpoint of Qinghe’s regional exploration and the final Jianghu Legacy: The Promised Light. The underground area below Buddha’s Light Pagoda only opens once a specific set of exploration requirements is met, and the full run plays out more like a mini-dungeon than a simple side fight.

Halo Peak campaign requirements and how it fits into Qinghe

Halo Peak is one of the Qinghe campaign quests, tied directly to the Jianghu Legacy quest The Promised Light. Campaign quests in Where Winds Meet are side quests that unlock repeatable boss battles; clearing them once lets you re-challenge the associated bosses as Campaign Challenges for gear and upgrade materials.

Campaign (Qinghe) Location First-clear key rewards
Bodhi Sea Sundara Land Jadeware Set, Bodhi Sea cosmetic, Crimson Leaves, Oscillating Jade, Zhou Coin, Character EXP
Palace of Annals Moonveil Mountain Jadeware Set, cosmetic chest, Crimson Leaves, Oscillating Jade, Zhou Coin, Character EXP
Gleaming Abyss Moonveil Mountain Hawking Set, cosmetic chest, Bellstrike Umbra Tips, Attunement Stone, Oscillating Jade, Zhou Coin, Character EXP
Still Shore Moonveil Mountain Hawking Set, cosmetic chest, Crimson Leaves, Oscillating Jade, Zhou Coin, Character EXP
Halo Peak Sundara Land (Halo Peak) Greaves, Halo Peak cosmetic chest, Crimson Leaves, Martial Arts Custom Tips, Oscillating Jade, Coin, Character EXP
Blissful Retreat Moonveil Mountain Swallowcall Set, cosmetic chest, Bamboocut Wind Tips, Oscillating Jade, Coin, Character EXP

Unlocking Halo Peak’s campaign is not tied to a simple story flag. It is gated behind Qinghe exploration and the final Jianghu Legacy, so players who rush the main story and ignore side content will hit a wall here.

Exploration requirement: why 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points matters

The key requirement for Halo Peak is 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points. The Promised Light only becomes available once that regional exploration threshold is reached. Until then, the underground content beneath Buddha’s Light Pagoda remains locked, and you will not see the final Jianghu Legacy marker.

Qinghe Exploration Points come from almost every kind of activity in the region:

  • Side quests and Jianghu Legacy chains
  • Campaign quests like Bodhi Sea or Still Shore
  • World Affairs and Exploration-type side quests
  • Hidden objects, books, oddities, dungeons, and local bosses

Reaching 6,000 points effectively means engaging with a large slice of Qinghe’s optional content. The design pushes you to interact with the region as a whole rather than treating Halo Peak as an isolated fight.

How to start The Promised Light (Halo Peak campaign quest)

The Promised Light is the final Jianghu Legacy quest in Qinghe and doubles as the campaign quest for Halo Peak.

Quest Type Region Unlock requirement
The Promised Light Jianghu Legacy – Final Qinghe Talk to the Wayfarer at Sundara Land and reach 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points

To actually pick it up:

  • Open the Exploration menu for Qinghe.
  • Go to the Jianghu Legacy tab.
  • Select Jianghu Legacy – Final: The Promised Light.
  • Inspect it to reveal its location and begin tracking.
  • Speak to the Wayfarer in Sundara Land when prompted.

Once those steps are complete and the exploration threshold is met, the game will direct you toward Halo Peak and Buddha’s Light Pagoda.

How to open the underground area at Halo Peak

The underground space at Halo Peak sits beneath Buddha’s Light Pagoda and is not a simple drop you can brute-force early. Entry is gated by an in-world ritual tied to The Promised Light.

Step Action at Halo Peak Result
1 Travel to Halo Peak and climb Buddha’s Light Pagoda. Reach the top of the pagoda.
2 Place the Light Jade on the pedestal at the top during the Wu Hour. Triggers the mechanism that opens the base of the pagoda.
3 After the ritual, return to the base of the pagoda. The formerly sealed door at the base is now open.
4 Enter the pagoda and use Wind Sense to locate a hidden lever. The lever opens the trap door leading into the underground section.

Two details matter here:

  • Light Jade: You need this quest item in your inventory; it is part of The Promised Light’s setup.
  • Wu Hour timing: the ritual only works at this time of day, but you can change the in-game time through the time adjustment menu without waiting in real-time.

Only after the Light Jade ritual and lever interaction does the game “let you jump down” into the underground Halo Peak space. Going straight for the floor with falling skills without these triggers won’t progress the campaign.

Buddha’s Light Pagoda: light puzzles and mechanical puppets

Once you drop through the trap door, The Promised Light turns into a fairly long linear dungeon beneath the pagoda. The first half is built around light-reflection puzzles and mechanical enemies.

Phase Objective Key actions
Light puzzle 1 Explore beneath the pagoda, interact with Buddha and mirror. Use Meridian to rotate the statue so its mirror refracts light into a hole on the right.
Light puzzle 2 Drop into a hall with another light path. Again rotate mirror statues with Meridian to redirect light into a wall opening.
Cavern entry Follow the path behind a moving statue. Crawl under rubble; the floor collapses and drops you deeper.
Mechanical puppets 1 Return upward and inspect a seated body. Examining the body summons 3 Mechanical Puppets; deflect their attacks to defeat them and obtain a key.
Side treasure Open the next door and explore branching paths. Right-hand cave with barrels hides a chest; left path continues the dungeon.
Mechanical puppets 2 Clear another puppet group. Defeat them, then climb the stairs and head through the door to proceed.

Meridian is essential here. Without rotating the mirror statues, the light will not unlock the necessary passages. Combat remains straightforward: the key is parrying or deflecting the Mechanical Puppets rather than trying to race them down purely through damage.

Thousand-Buddha Cavern: rope bridges, collapse sequence, and teleport point

After the initial puppet encounters, the dungeon shifts into traversal and set-piece territory, taking you into the Thousand-Buddha Cavern and then toward the final boss arena.

Segment What happens What to do
Hero’s Tomb checkpoint A cutscene triggers, followed by a corridor descent. Use the nearby Hero’s Tomb as a checkpoint before exploring deeper.
Lower passage Drop to a lower path and squeeze past a fallen pillar. Turn left after emerging, jump down to a chest, then drop again to a lower ledge.
Rope bridges A series of rope crossings spans a deep chasm. Cross carefully; falling kills you and respawns you back at the Hero’s Tomb.
End of bridges At the final rope bridge, progression is below. Jump down to a lower ledge to trigger another cutscene.
Collapse run The ground collapses behind you in a scripted sequence. Run forward, respond to quicktime prompts, and outrun the collapsing terrain.
Cavern bottom You eventually reach solid ground. Unlock the teleport point for Thousand-Buddha Cavern before moving on.

Unlocking the Thousand-Buddha Cavern teleport point is important for later access and potential backtracking. It anchors the dungeon in the world map rather than treating it as a one-off instance.

Buddha Grotto and Tian Ying (Miaoshan) boss fight

The final stretch returns to light and then transitions into the Halo Peak boss encounter itself.

Final approach segment Mechanic Outcome
Last mirror statue Another Buddha holds a mirror in a chamber. Rotate the statue with Meridian to direct light onto a sealed door.
Buddha Grotto entrance The lit door opens into a new space. Enter the Buddha Grotto, where another Hero’s Tomb is available.
Final preparations Checkpoint and equipment tuning. Use the Hero’s Tomb to adjust build, heal, and prepare for the boss.
Tian Ying boss battle Campaign boss of Halo Peak. Defeat Tian Ying (also referred to as Miaoshan) to complete The Promised Light.
Escape route Post-fight exit. Leave the grotto through an underwater cave to finish the dungeon.

Tian Ying is marked as a five-star difficulty boss, making this one of Qinghe’s tougher campaign encounters. The fight takes place within the context of The Promised Light, and clearing it satisfies both the Jianghu Legacy and the Halo Peak campaign requirement.

Tian Ying as a Campaign Challenge and rewards

Tian Ying is tied directly to Halo Peak’s campaign structure.

Boss Location Role Campaign Challenge rewards
Tian Ying Halo Peak (Buddha Grotto) Campaign boss and repeatable Campaign Challenge 2 Tiered Greaves, 1 Halo Peak Cosmetic Chest, 1 Crimson Leaves Chest, Oscillating Jade, Zhou Coins, Character EXP

Key points about Tian Ying’s status in the world:

  • The Halo Peak campaign must be cleared once (by finishing The Promised Light and defeating Tian Ying) to unlock the Tian Ying Campaign Challenge.
  • After that, Tian Ying can be fought again by spending energy, making Halo Peak a long-term farming node for armor and resources.
  • The one-time dungeon rewards from The Promised Light quest itself are separate from the Campaign Challenge loot.

The quest rewards stack with Halo Peak’s campaign payout and with Tian Ying’s repeatable Campaign Challenge drops, making this chain one of Qinghe’s most lucrative mid-to-late game detours.

Halo Peak’s underground area is not a quick side room hidden behind a random drop; it is the payoff for Qinghe’s exploration track and the capstone of its Jianghu Legacy storyline. Reaching it requires committing to 6,000 Exploration Points, triggering The Promised Light via the Wayfarer in Sundara Land, and then using Light Jade at the right time atop Buddha’s Light Pagoda. Once that ritual is done, the pagoda opens, the dungeon unfolds, and Halo Peak finally delivers on the promise of a dedicated campaign boss in Tian Ying with a repeatable Challenge and a substantial set of rewards.
