Balm for the Wounded is a Wayfarer Wish that sends you into Whiteward to track down Sherma and fight through a compact multi-wave encounter. The quest is easy to miss if you haven’t prepped Songclave or stepped into Whiteward at least once. Here’s exactly how to make it appear and how to finish it fast.

Unlock requirements (what to do before the wish appears)

Requirement Where/How Notes
Build the Wish Board in Songclave Reach Songclave in the Choral Chambers, rest at the First Shrine, leave and return The board is constructed after your first visit cycle.
Donate Rosaries (“Building Up Songclave”) Interact with the Wish Board Make at least one donation; 300 Rosaries is a common threshold.
Talk to Sherma multiple times Songclave Keep exhausting Sherma’s dialogue until she starts talking about helping the wounded.
Obtain the White Key Right side of Songclave, along the metal fence on the ground Pick it up to unlock Whiteward’s elevator door. If it’s not present late-game, check Songclave’s merchant after her own wish chain.
Visit Whiteward at least once Unlock its door and ride the elevator down Simply entering Whiteward once can be the trigger that flags the wish.
(If stuck) Complete “Songclave Supplies” once Songclave Wish Board Some players report this nudge helps new wishes populate.

Once these are handled, return to the Songclave Wish Board and accept Balm for the Wounded.

How to reach Whiteward and where the tracking trail begins

From the Choral Chambers’ Grand Bellway bench, enter the chamber to the left. On the bottom-right of that room, look for the upside‑down spear marker that denotes Whiteward. Use the White Key to open the elevator and ride it all the way down.

At the bottom:

  • Head left into the next screen and continue left to the far wall, then climb up into the narrow upper tunnel.
  • Work through the steam vents and hazard corridor. You’ll come to a lever that opens a drop.
  • Fall through the newly opened shaft. From here, go right over the first gap, then drop at the second gap.

At the bottom of that drop, you can interact with a personal item that starts Sherma’s scent trail. From this point on, you’ll see clear markers that lead to her.

Tip: There’s a Spool Fragment tucked under the elevator’s path in Whiteward. It’s reachable by sending the lift up, using the side shafts, and dropping back down before the platform returns.

Following the trail to Sherma

Follow the trail right through furnaces, spikes, and platforms. When you reach a large room with a floating platform, ride it up and hop to the left-hand ledge, then continue left into a doorway marked by bells.

Inside, proceed to the far right. Break the obstructing debris or false wall to reveal a back room and find Sherma.

The gauntlet fight (and what matters)

Speak to Sherma to trigger several waves of enemies. This isn’t an escort or protection sequence—Sherma does not need defending. Focus on clearing the room, keep mobile to avoid being boxed in, and use the vertical space when you need a breather. When the waves end, talk to Sherma again to finish the wish.

Rewards and what unlocks next

  • Reward: Spool Fragment (increases Silk capacity when paired).
  • Follow‑up: The Lost Merchant wish becomes available on the Songclave board later in the chain.

If the wish won’t show up

  • Confirm the Songclave Wish Board is built (rest, leave, and revisit).
  • Donate Rosaries at least once on the board.
  • Pick up the White Key in Songclave, unlock Whiteward, and ride its elevator once.
  • Exhaust Sherma’s dialogue in Songclave until she mentions healing or helping others.
  • Check the board again; if it’s still missing, complete “Songclave Supplies” once and revisit.

After turning in Balm for the Wounded, Sherma returns to Songclave with new lines, and you walk away with a Spool Fragment and an easy tick toward completion. If you’re sweeping the area, use that Whiteward access to fill in its map, grab the tucked-away fragment under the lift, and then pivot back to the board for the next wish.
