Honedge is an early standout in Pokémon Legends: Z-A — and it’s easy to miss if you’re searching at the wrong time. Here’s how to make it spawn, where to look, and what to expect once you’ve got it. If you’re new to this adventure, the official game page is here: Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Go to Wild Zone 4 at night

Honedge is nocturnal in Legends Z-A and only appears in Wild Zone 4 after nightfall. If it’s daytime, advance time by resting on a bench or sleeping at Hotel Z. Time shifting becomes available after the fifth main story quest, once you finish three side missions for Emma. If you’re heading straight to Wild Zone 4, a bench sits just outside the Pokémon Center to the north of the zone.

Tip: If you don’t see any Honedge, double-check the time — and toggle to daytime and back to night if spawns feel sparse.

Where to look inside Wild Zone 4

  • Start at the southeast corner of the zone; Honedge commonly spawns there.
  • Do a slow sweep along the main pathway. At night, multiple Honedge can drift along the route.

If you clear the area without a spawn, step out and reenter the zone o, rest again to cycle spawns.

How to catch and evolve Honedge

Once a Honedge appears, engage and capture as you normally would. When you’re ready to evolve it, reach level 35 to obtain Doublade, then use a Dusk Stone to evolve it into Aegislash.

Lore note

Honedge’s legend is consistent: a departed spirit inhabits an ancient sword, then binds to people and saps their life force. Its Ghost/Steel typing and defensive profile fit that story well.

If Honedge still isn’t showing up, the usual culprit is time of day or not having unlocked time shifting yet. Make it night, sweep the southeast and main path in Wild Zone 4, and cycle spawns if needed.
