How the Try‑Not‑to‑Laugh Challenge works

The event is a sequence of seven combat stages built around a Surprise Box that takes turns on the action timeline. Certain units in your party are flagged as Comedians; when the Surprise Box acts, it triggers a Surprise Gift whose effect depends on which Comedian(s) you brought. Multiple Comedians can layer multiple effects, and the box can be “charged” to strengthen the payoff.

Most stages revolve around filling a score meter (the Giggle Gauge) quickly by leaning into each stage’s featured mechanics — usually by maximizing a specific character’s ult usage, attack frequency, or state uptime. Each day unlocks a new stage, and most stages provide trial characters so you can jump in without team building barriers.

Stage-by-stage strategies and suggested teams

2 — Qingque’s Deep Sea Tiles Qingque, Sparkle Qingque, Tribbie, Gallagher Push Qingque into Hidden Hand as often as possible to ramp the Giggle Gauge. Float a spare skill point so Sparkle can feed Qingque on demand; use basics elsewhere to refill the skill point bank.
3 — Aventurine’s stage Qingque, Aventurine Tingyun, Trailblazer (Ice) Build around Aventurine’s Ultimate. Feed him Energy and turns (Tingyun’s Ultimate is excellent here) so he can spam his ult and accelerate Surprise Gift triggers.
4 — Feixiao’s stage Aventurine, Feixiao March 7th (Imaginary), Robin Have Feixiao attack as often as possible to generate Flying Aureus stacks and fill the Giggle Gauge. Aim Feixiao’s Ultimate at the highest‑HP target; her bonus effect splashes damage during the ult.
5 — Cerydra’s stage Feixiao, Cerydra, Sparkle Dan Heng slot varies by availability Keep Feixiao on repeat attacks. Use Cerydra’s peerage to multi‑hit with Feixiao’s Skill; a Dan Heng carry (Permansor Terrae works well in this slot) amplifies single‑target windows.
6 — Sampo’s stage Sampo, Cerydra, Sparkle Huohuo Cycle Sampo’s Skill to fuel Energy and fire off his Ultimate as often as possible. The rotation is straightforward: skill for Energy, ult on cooldown, repeat.
7 — Comedians’ Lucky Grab Bag Varies (mix of prior comedians) Flexible You can reuse earlier winning shells. A reliable option is Feixiao + Cerydra + Sparkle with a sustain or Aventurine for durability and extra Surprise Gift synergy.
Tip: Trial lineups are strong enough to finish the event and secure the premium currency. If you’re chasing higher medals, manual play that concentrates skill points and turn manipulation on the featured unit for the stage is typically the fastest route.
