How the Christmas Elf Shop Works in 99 Nights in the Forest

The Christmas Elf Shop is the holiday storefront tied to the Christmas event in 99 Nights in the Forest. You access it in the lobby by interacting with the Elf King and Elf Queen, and you buy items by trading in Candy Canes earned during the event.

Where to find the Christmas Elf Shop (Elf King and Queen)

The shop lives in the game’s lobby rather than out in the forest. Walk up to the Elf King or Elf Queen and interact to open the store menu. From there, each item displays its Candy Cane cost and, in some cases, a clock-style icon indicating it’s limited to the event window.

What Candy Canes are used for

Candy Canes are the event currency used to purchase Christmas Elf Shop items, including cosmetics, furniture, and the limited-time Santa’s Helper class. Candy Canes are also positioned as a way to chase rare loot during the event loop, since they’re bundled into the same rewards you earn while helping elves.

How to get Candy Canes (helping Christmas Elves)

Candy Canes come from helping Santa’s elves scattered around the forest. When you successfully help an elf, you receive a special present. That present can contain items and weapons, and it also includes Candy Canes.

The event has four elf variants you can run into across the map: Tree Elf, Skating Elf, Ice Rink Elf, and Buried Elf. Each one is tied to a different kind of interaction or rescue requirement.

Elf rescue requirements (Ladder, Ice Skates, Snow Shovel)

Elf rescues can require specific tools purchased with Coins (also referred to as Mossy Coins in some in-game labeling). These tools come from Santa’s Sack near the campfire.

Tool Cost (Coins) What it’s for
Ladder 15 Saves the Tree Elf.
Ice Skates 20 Saves the Ice Rink Elf and is used in the Skating Elf quest.
Shovel (Snow Shovel in hotbar) 20 Saves the Buried Elf and can dig up Snowballs.
Sled 25 Doesn’t save elves, but helps you move faster on snow.

Christmas Elf Shop items and Candy Cane prices

The shop contains 8 total items. Early in the rollout, five are available to buy with Candy Canes, and three are marked TBA and unlock later. Some listings may show a clock icon, which indicates the item is intended to disappear when the Christmas event ends.

How to buy items in the Christmas Elf Shop

Step 1: Go to the lobby and interact with the Elf King or Elf Queen to open the Christmas Elf Shop.

Step 2: Select the item you want and confirm the purchase by spending the required number of Candy Canes.

Step 3: Keep an eye out for items marked with a clock icon, since those are intended to go away when the Christmas event ends.

The Santa’s Helper class is not usable after the Christmas event ends.

Where Santa’s Elf appears

If you’re planning purchases, the practical constraint is time. Shop inventory is tied to the Christmas event window, and Candy Canes are earned by completing elf rescues and related tasks, so spending tends to be easiest once you’ve locked in a consistent rescue loop.
