How to befriend Shen Weiqing in Where Winds Meet’s AI chat

Shen Weiqing is one of the Jianghu Friends in Where Winds Meet, found on the road in Twinbeast Ridge with her Sword Servant. Unlike most NPCs, her friendship is locked behind an AI chat scenario where she searches for a sect and needs you to nudge her toward a decision.

Who Shen Weiqing is and where to find her

Shen Weiqing is described as a young noblewoman from an official family in Kaifeng City. She has run away from home to enter the Jianghu and join a martial sect, but she has no idea which path to follow.

You encounter her in the Qinghe region, specifically along the road in Twinbeast Ridge, accompanied by her Sword Servant. On the world map, she appears under the Jianghu Friends/NPC filters as “Shen Weiqing.” Reaching her and successfully befriending her contributes to exploration and Jianghu Friend completion for the area.

How Shen Weiqing’s AI chat works

Shen Weiqing is one of the AI chat-powered Jianghu Friends. Instead of preset dialogue choices, you type free-form lines, and her behavior changes based on how well your responses match her hint and personality. The goal is to steer her toward joining a sect that fits her ideals, then lock in the friendship once she commits.

Her hint focuses on choosing a sect and starting a new life in the martial world. The easiest way to satisfy that condition is to present yourself as a member of a sect and invite her to join under your guidance.

Befriend Shen Weiqing by recruiting her to Silver Needles

The most straightforward path to Revered with Shen Weiqing is to roleplay as a disciple of the Silver Needles sect and walk her through a simple recruitment “scene.” The conversation does not require exact phrasing, but it needs a clear sequence: introduction, reveal your affiliation, invite her, then describe escorting her to the sect.

Step 1: Greet her and offer help. When she muses about Moonveil Mountain’s scenery and wonders whether a master might take her in, answer with something like Do you need help, young one? and let her introduce herself as Shen Weiqing from Kaifeng, who wants to join a sect.

Step 2: Establish that you belong to Silver Needles. Once she asks for advice, respond in-character that you are a Silver Needles disciple. A simple narration line works, for example: (You show her your badge proving you are a member of Silver Needles.) or a direct statement such as I am a member of the Silver Needles sect.

Step 3: Invite her to join your sect. After she reacts with interest, tell her she seems like a suitable candidate and that you can recommend her. For instance: You look like a promising candidate. I can recommend you to Silver Needles if you follow me.

Step 4: Narrate the journey to headquarters and her acceptance. AI chat responds well to stage directions inside parentheses. Use a short, decisive “scene” such as:

(You travel with Shen Weiqing to the Silver Needles Headquarters and present her as a recommended candidate. The elders accept her into the sect, and she is overjoyed.)

Once this plays out, Shen Weiqing typically thanks you, reflects on her new path, and the system grants a large affection boost (example outcomes show Affection +100 and immediate Revered status).

Note: AI chat outcomes are not rigid. Even with similar lines, responses can branch in slightly different ways. If the exchange stalls, resetting the chat and repeating the same overall sequence usually fixes it.

Alternative sect choices players have used

Shen Weiqing’s core requirement is to commit to a sect that fits her expectations. Silver Needles is the cleanest option, but the AI is flexible enough that other sects can work if you frame them in a way that appeals to her.

Players have reported success by:

  • Pretending to be in Nine Mortal Ways, asking what she wants from a sect, then explaining that Nine Mortal Ways aligns with those wishes and inviting her along.
  • Using broad, roleplayed prompts in parentheses rather than rigid dialogue, such as (tells her where to go), (tells her what to do), then (complete the quest) once she accepts.

The common thread is that you clearly play the role of a sect disciple, describe guiding her to that sect’s base, and conclude with her being accepted as a recruit. As long as the story is coherent and matches her hint about finding a sect, the friendship flag can still trigger.

How to trigger the chat when she won’t talk

Some players reach Shen Weiqing in Twinbeast Ridge and cannot start AI chat at all, or they speak to her once and then lose the option. There are a few in-game behaviors that can restore or unlock her dialogue.

Step 1: Use the “Request” interaction. On PC, pressing V when close to an NPC opens the request panel. For Shen Weiqing, repeatedly requesting the items she carries, even if she declines, can cause her AI chat option to appear afterwards.

Step 2: Change the game language if the chat behaves oddly. Some AI NPCs react more reliably when the game language is set to Chinese. Switching languages in the settings, then talking to Shen Weiqing again, often makes her accept very minimal stage-direction prompts like (tells her where to go) and (complete the quest).

Step 3: If she says she needs more time, time-skip within the chat. When she delays her answer, you can respond with a narration line that moves time forward, such as (waits a week and returns for Shen Weiqing’s answer). The AI treats this as you coming back later and can resume the decision point immediately.

Tip: Returning to the login screen resets AI NPCs to their pre-conversation state. If Shen Weiqing becomes hostile or gets killed during a failed interaction, logging out and in again often restores her original, non-hostile setup.

Using parentheses and narration in AI chat

Shen Weiqing’s scenario showcases how Where Winds Meet uses AI chat as a light roleplaying engine. The system responds not only to direct speech but also to narrated actions and time jumps when you wrap them in parentheses.

For this NPC in particular, narration helps in three ways:

  • Describing physical proof, like showing your sect badge, so you do not rely purely on claims.
  • “Teleporting” to locations such as sect headquarters without needing a quest marker, e.g. (you lead her along the mountain paths to Silver Needles headquarters).
  • Skipping time when she asks to think, or when you want to imply off-screen travel or evaluation by the sect elders.

The AI is more likely to recognize that the narrative condition has been fulfilled when you finish with a strong, result-focused line, such as having the elders formally accept her or having her voice clear gratitude for your guidance.

General tips for succeeding in AI chat

Shen Weiqing shares several behaviors with other AI chat Jianghu Friends. A few habits make these encounters much more reliable.

Reset when a conversation derails. Long, meandering threads can confuse the AI and never quite land on the win condition. Using the refresh/reset button at the top of the AI chat box clears the thread so you can run one clean strategy from start to finish.

Respect combat triggers. Some AI NPCs become violent if the conversation goes badly. If that happens mid-talk, it is usually safer to leave to the login screen than to fight them out. When you log back in, they typically respawn in a neutral state, and the AI chat can be tried again.

Read and follow the hint text. Every AI chat NPC has a written hint that points at the kind of outcome you need, not just the mood they should be in. For Shen Weiqing, that outcome is choosing a sect and committing to it. Keep the dialogue focused on achieving that concrete change in her life rather than just making her like you.

What Shen Weiqing gives once befriended

Shen Weiqing counts toward your Jianghu Friends roster and contributes to weekly rewards tied to befriended characters once you reach Revered status. Her specific “Friend Gift” has not been detailed, but she functions like other Jianghu Friends who deliver recurring gifts after reaching the highest affection tier.

In Twinbeast Ridge, you only need one Jianghu Friend to complete the region. If Shen Weiqing proves stubborn or bugged in your current save, it is possible to befriend another AI NPC in the same area to satisfy the regional requirement. However, resolving her sect dilemma and seeing her accept a new life in Silver Needles or another sect is one of the more flavorful uses of the AI chat system, and it is worth doing at least once if you enjoy the roleplay angle.
