The “Check suspicious floor” objective in the Echoes in the Shrine Lost Chapter Quest in Where Winds Meet is easy to miss if you do not realize it is tied to a movement skill. The game marks a cracked stone slab near the General’s Shrine in Qinghe, but simply standing on it or pressing the normal interact button will not do anything. You have to use an airborne slam move to break through and reach the deep cave underneath the shrine.
Where Echoes in the Shrine starts and when the suspicious floor appears
Echoes in the Shrine is a Lost Chapter Quest that begins at the General’s Shrine in Qinghe. You pick it up by talking to Zhang San, the man kneeling and repeatedly kowtowing in front of the shrine’s altar. After you check on him, he collapses, you wake him up, and he eventually storms off, leaving behind a fake martial arts book on the ground.
Once you inspect this book, the quest updates and highlights a nearby stone slab as a “suspicious floor.” At the same time, you can also speak to the boy Shitou, who stands close to the slab. He explains that his cuju ball fell down onto the rock and mentions a deep cave below, setting up a small objective to recover the ball after you break into the cave.
The suspicious floor is therefore:
- In General’s Shrine, Qinghe
- Near where Zhang San was kneeling
- Right next to the fake book’s location and the boy Shitou
Reaching this point in the quest is mandatory before the game will recognize that you are interacting with the cracked slab.

Required move: Mighty Drop / Airborne Light Attack
The slab will only open if you hit it with an airborne slam-type move. In-game, this shows up in two related ways:
- As a Mystic Skill under Movement called a slam (Mighty Drop)
- In the mission text and prompt as using an Airborne Light Attack to crack the stone slab
This move is treated as part of your Mystic Skills rather than a weapon combo, so simply attacking while you jump will not be enough. You need to confirm that the slam/Mighty Drop movement skill is available and that you know which button combination triggers it on your platform.

How to equip and check the Mighty Drop keybind
Step 1: Open the character menus and navigate to the section that shows your abilities and gear. Look for the area that lists Mystic Skills, then switch to the Movement category.

Step 2: In Movement Mystic Skills, locate the slam move described as Mighty Drop. Highlight it to see the control hint that explains how to “descend while in the air” on your current platform.
Step 3: Make sure Mighty Drop is learned and active. If the game allows, confirm that it is not locked or unequipped. Once active, remember the key or button combination listed in the description; that is what you will use above the suspicious floor.

Without this skill available, jumping on or light-attacking the slab will not progress the quest.
Controls to break the suspicious floor (controller and PC)
Once the quest log tells you to check the suspicious floor and you have Mighty Drop ready, the solution is to perform the slam while you are in the air directly above the cracked slab.
Use these inputs:
| Platform | Action | Typical input |
|---|---|---|
| Controller (PlayStation / Xbox-style) | Jump, then perform Mighty Drop | Press the jump button, then press the left trigger while still airborne |
| PC (keyboard) | Jump, then perform Mighty Drop | Press Space to jump, then press Q while still in the air |
Step 1: Stand directly on top of the marked suspicious floor at the shrine. Position yourself roughly in the center of the cracked stone slab.
Step 2: Jump straight up using your normal jump button (Space on PC or your controller’s jump button).
Step 3: While still in mid-air over the slab, press the Mighty Drop input (left trigger on controller, or Q on PC). Your character should slam downward onto the stone.

Step 4: When performed correctly, the slam shatters the suspicious floor and drops you into the first level of the deep cave beneath the General’s Shrine, updating the quest objective to explore this underground area.
What to do immediately after breaking the floor
Dropping through the slab puts you in the deep cave that the boy mentioned. As soon as you land, the game briefly limits some of your traversal abilities, indicating that you “can’t muster your strength” here. Lightness Skills, climbing, Wallstride, and mounted riding are restricted inside this cave, so you have to progress mostly on foot along the ground.
Right near the landing spot, you can pick up Shitou’s cuju ball, fulfilling the small request linked to the dog and boy near the shrine entrance. Make sure to grab it before moving deeper into the cave; otherwise, you will have to backtrack through encounters and traversal puzzles.

A little further ahead, you will find a chest containing fire or Flaming Arrows. These become essential for the rest of Echoes in the Shrine, used to:
- Burn away thick vines blocking the walls and a suspended bridge
- Ignite an oil lamp or brazier to light the path, which also alerts the Tiger Fort Bandits
- Detonate explosive barrels to open new passages and weaken groups of enemies, including Zhang Lang, later on

How the suspicious floor fits into the full Echoes in the Shrine quest flow
The cracked stone slab is only one step in a longer chain of objectives inside Echoes in the Shrine. The progression around this point looks like this:
- Check Zhang San kneeling at the shrine.
- Check him again after he collapses, wake him up, and listen to his story about the fake martial arts book.
- Investigate the book dropped on the ground.
- Notice and approach the suspicious floor, then talk to Shitou about the cuju ball and the deep cave underneath.
- Use Mighty Drop / Airborne Light Attack to break the suspicious floor and fall into the cave.
- Collect the cuju ball in the cave and pick up fire arrows from the chest ahead.
- Burn vines, light an oil lamp, and continue exploring toward the underground shrine and the eventual boss encounter with Zhang Lang.
Breaking through the suspicious floor is therefore the bridge between the shrine’s surface setup and the full underground dungeon segment, with its restricted movement, environmental puzzles, and explosive-barrel combat encounters.

Once you understand that the “Check suspicious floor” step is not a normal interact prompt but a cue to use the Mighty Drop movement skill, the cracked slab becomes a straightforward puzzle. Stand on the marking, jump, trigger the slam in mid-air, and the rest of Echoes in the Shrine opens up underneath your feet.
