We receive multiple notifications from various apps throughout the day. For instance, you receive a notification from an instant messaging app in case you have a new message, or from Instagram when someone starts a live video, and so on. But, if these notifications are visible on the lock screen, anyone with access to your iPhone can view them.
The question that arises is, what can you do about it? You can either disable the lock screen notification previews for an app or disable notifications from the iPhone lock screen altogether.
When you hide the previews from the lock screen, you need to unlock the iPhone to view them. Since, the prime concern is privacy, disabling previews from the lock screen will do the job. You also have the option to never show the previews, even when the phone is unlocked.
However, if you want to disable the lock screen notifications altogether, you have to do it individually. After you have disabled them for a specific app, the notifications wouldn’t be visible on the lock screen but you can check them from the notification center once you unlock the device.
Disabling Lock Screen Notification Previews on iPhone
You can easily disable the lock screen notification previews or never display previews for an app from the iPhone settings. Tap on the ‘Settings’ icon on the home screen to launch the settings.
In iPhone settings, locate the ‘Notifications’ option and tap on it.
Next, tap on the ‘Show Previews’ icon at the top.
You can now select either of the two options, ‘When Unlocked’ or ‘Never’. When you select ‘When Unlocked’, the notifications will be displayed on the lock screen but the content (preview) will be hidden and can be viewed from the control center after unlocking the device. With the ‘Never’ option selected, you can’t view the preview even after unlocking the device.
Disabling Lock Screen Notifications Altogether for an App on iPhone
When you disable the lock screen notifications for an app altogether, you wouldn’t be receiving any notifications from that particular app when the iPhone is locked.
In the notification settings, you will find a list of all the apps that are installed on your iPhone. Select the app for which you want to disable the lock screen notifications altogether.
Once you are in the app’s notification settings, you will find three options under the ‘Alert’ section. The app notification will be visible on all the places that are selected here. To disable notifications for the lock screen, tap on the ‘Lock Screen’ option to unselect it.
Now, you will no more find notifications from this particular app on the iPhone lock screen.
You can similarly disable lock screen notifications for other apps as well.
You need not fret about the prying eyes looking into your notifications, since the content wouldn’t be visible on the lock screen anymore. This will enhance the privacy standards and ensure others don’t get a peek of the content on your iPhone.
