How to find Sulfur, Obsidian, and Infernal Fragments in Fisch

Quick answer: Catch Lava Clams at (-5102, 162, -1177) to obtain Sulfur, Obsidian, and Igneous Pearls. Take these pearls to the Crab Miners in the Scoria Reach Mines at (-4972, 145, -1577) to exchange them for the corresponding Fragments, then place each Fragment in its specific pillar location around the island.

In the Scoria Reach update for Fisch, activating the Igneous Altar requires finding three specific items: the Sulfur Fragment, Obsidian Fragment, and Infernal Fragment. Unlike standard loot, these items cannot be fished directly from the open water. Instead, they require a multi-step process involving specific bait, distinct fishing locations, and interactions with NPCs in the island's mines.

Obtaining these fragments serves as a prerequisite for powering up the pillars scattered across Scoria Reach, which ultimately allows players to obtain the Igneous Rupturer Rod.

Catching Pearls for trade

The Crab Miners who provide the fragments do not accept standard currency. You must trade specific pearls found within Lava Clams to receive the corresponding fragment. These clams are located in an exclusive lava pool opposite Ashbrook Town.

Step 1: Navigate to the lava pool at GPS coordinates (-5102, 162, -1177).

Step 2: Fish in this pool using Volcanic Geodes or similar bait preferred by Lava Clams to increase your catch rate.

Step 3: Continue fishing until you obtain the specific pearls required for the fragments you need.

  • Sulfur Pearl: Trades for the Sulfur Fragment.
  • Obsidian Pearl: Trades for the Obsidian Fragment.
  • Igneous Pearl: Trades for the Infernal Fragment.

The Igneous Pearl is an Exotic rarity item, making the Infernal Fragment significantly harder to acquire than the others.

Exchanging Pearls with Crab Miners

Once you possess the necessary pearls, you must locate the Crab Miners to initiate the trade.

Step 1: Enter the Scoria Reach Mines using the elevator located at (-4972, 145, -1577).

Step 2: Locate a roaming Crab Miner and give them your pearls to begin the mining process.

Step 3: Wait five minutes while the Crab Miner works on the mineral ores in the cave.

Step 4: Interact with the Crab Miner again to claim your reward. This creates a chance to receive the Fragment associated with the pearl type you provided.

Fragment Pillar locations

After acquiring the fragments, you must insert them into specific pillars located around Scoria Reach to progress the quest. Each fragment corresponds to a unique pillar location.

Sulfur Fragment Pillar

The Sulfur Pillar is located at (-5180, 158, -1192). It stands opposite the lava pool near Ashbrook Town, making it the most accessible of the three.

Obsidian Fragment Pillar

To find the Obsidian Pillar, head to the right side of the Scoria Volcano. Look for a secluded cave entrance. The pillar is located inside this cave at (-5643, 163, -1693).

Infernal Fragment Pillar

The Infernal Pillar is situated at the top of the mountain at (-5604, 262, -1736). Follow the path leading up the right side of the Volcano to reach this elevation.

Once all fragments are placed and the 11 required pearls are deposited at the Igneous Altar, the quest progresses, allowing access to the Igneous Rupturer Rod.
