Raven sits at the center of late‑game progression on Frostspire Expanse’s third island in The Forge. His quests decide whether you ever see the Red Cave, fight its demonic spiders, and unlock some of the strongest heavy armor recipes. The line is short but demanding, especially the final stretch that leans heavily on rare spawns and high mining power.
Requirements and where to find Raven
Raven only appears on Island 3 in Frostspire Expanse, so you need to reach at least level 70 and unlock this world before anything else.
Once you arrive on Island 3, Raven cycles through three locations as you advance his quests:
- First location – Spider camp: From the Island 3 docks, head toward the Spider Cave and take a right. A small campsite beside a campfire holds Raven for the first quest.
- Second location – Red Cave door: After completing Raven 1, go past the main forge in town toward the large locked stone wall. Raven waits in front of this sealed entrance for Raven 2.
- Third location – Inside Red Cave: Completing Raven 2 unlocks the Red Cave. Raven moves inside, deeper into the red‑lit cavern, and offers the final quest.
All three quests assume you are already comfortable with Island 3 combat and have at least one high‑tier pickaxe, such as Prismatic; without strong damage, survivability, and mining power, the last quest becomes an extended grind.

All Raven quests and rewards
The Raven questline is compact but layered, with each step unlocking more of his armor set and the cave itself.
| Quest | Objectives | Main rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Raven 1 |
Kill Crystal Spider (5) Mine Icy Pebble (10) Bring Aetherit (1) |
Raven Helmet recipe |
| Raven 2 |
Kill Diamond Spider (10) Kill Prismarine Spider (1) Bring Snowite (1) |
Raven Chestplate recipe, Red Cave Key |
| Raven 3 |
Kill Mini Demonic Spider (25) Kill Demonic Spider (10) Kill Demonic Queen Spider (1) Bring Stolen Heart (1) |
Berserker Armor recipe (final Raven armor recipe) |
Finishing all three quests gives you recipes for the Raven Helmet, Raven Chestplate, and Berserker Armor, plus permanent access to the Red Cave through the key you get during Raven 2.
How to complete Raven 1 (Spider Cave basics)
Raven 1 is straightforward and keeps you entirely inside the Spider Cave and nearby icy rocks.
Crystal Spiders. These standard spiders populate the early Spider Cave sections. You simply need to defeat five of them. Any competent Island 3 weapon is enough, especially if you bring basic damage or attack speed buffs.
Icy Pebbles. Icy Pebbles spawn as small mineable nodes in the Spider Cave area. Mine ten of them. They also have a chance to drop Aetherit and Snowite, so you begin stocking ores that later quests demand.
Aetherit. Aetherit is a drop from Icy Pebbles, regular rocks, boulders, and small ice crystals in this zone. If you don’t already have one in your inventory, keep mining Icy Pebbles and nearby stones until at least a single Aetherit appears.
Once all three conditions are met, talk to Raven again at the spider camp. He acknowledges the offering and rewards the Raven Helmet recipe, then announces he will be “waiting where the cave begins,” foreshadowing the Red Cave door.

How to complete Raven 2 and unlock the Red Cave
Raven 2 raises the difficulty slightly but is still manageable with mid‑tier Island 3 gear. The main difference is the need for a specific, rare ore: Snowite.
After Raven 1, find Raven at the locked Red Cave entrance behind the main forge. Talking to him starts Raven 2 with three tasks.
Diamond Spiders. These tougher spiders live deeper inside the Spider Cave. You must defeat ten. Their damage is higher than Crystal Spiders, but they follow predictable melee behavior, so good armor and a lifesteal rune or healing items make the grind comfortable.
Prismarine Spider. This is a mini‑boss‑style spider, usually found in the later Spider Cave rooms. It has a larger health pool and more dangerous attacks than regular spiders. Focus on learning its patterns and keeping your health high rather than rushing it; killing it once satisfies the objective.
Snowite. Snowite is a legendary‑tier ore that drops from Icy Pebbles and other icy rocks in this area. The drop rate is low, so expect to spend some time mining. Many players already have Snowite from earlier grinding; if you kept one in your inventory, you can immediately turn it in.
With ten Diamond Spider kills, one Prismarine Spider kill, and a Snowite in your inventory, return to Raven at the sealed door. He grants the Raven Chestplate recipe and the Red Cave Key, then the door opens, revealing the red‑hued cave beneath the island.

Inside the Red Cave: new enemies and ores
The Red Cave changes the rhythm of Frostspire Expanse completely. You move from icy blues to a dense crimson space filled with powerful spiders and new crystals.
Demonic‑type spiders. As soon as you enter, you encounter Mini Demonic Spiders and Demonic Spiders. Both hit significantly harder than their Diamond counterparts and can inflict burning damage, making sustain more important than raw damage. Their drops include money, essence, and access to deeper parts of the cave.
Demonic Queen Spider. The Demonic Queen Spider is a rare spawn that appears in the Red Cave. Its spawn rate is extremely low compared to regular spiders, which is why the final Raven quest feels grind‑heavy. The fight involves crowd control effects such as stuns and large area blasts, so clearing surrounding mobs before engaging is safer than diving in surrounded.
Red crystals and Heart of the Island ores. Scattered through the cave are small, medium, and large red crystals that can contain new ores. The rarest structure here is the Heart of the Island ore node, a floating, glowing red core that requires at least 650 mine power to break effectively. From these hearts you can obtain a pool of special ores that includes Heart of the Island, Stolen Heart, Evil Eye, Frogite, Golabte, Crimsonite‑style ores, and more, each with different coin multipliers.
The Red Cave is also where Raven appears for the final step of his questline, deeper in the cavern near ruins and a bush‑hidden passage leading to additional NPCs and the Dragon Head Pickaxe.

How to complete Raven 3 (Demonic spiders and Stolen Heart)
Raven 3 is the real test. It combines sustained combat in the Red Cave with tight resource requirements, topped off by the rare Stolen Heart drop.
Once you speak to Raven inside the Red Cave, you receive four objectives:
- Kill 25 Mini Demonic Spiders
- Kill 10 Demonic Spiders
- Kill 1 Demonic Queen Spider
- Bring 1 Stolen Heart
Farming Mini Demonic and Demonic Spiders
The kill counts are straightforward. Mini Demonic Spiders and Demonic Spiders spawn throughout the Red Cave, so running loops through the corridors and open rooms will passively tick these off. The higher their health and damage, the more valuable fast weapons with lifesteal runes become, since sustained damage with self‑healing lets you stay in combat without constant retreating.

Finding the Demonic Queen Spider
The Demonic Queen Spider is a chance‑based spawn in the Red Cave rather than a fixed boss you can walk up to on a timer. She appears rarely, so the limiting factor is patience rather than raw strength. The recommended approach is to keep clearing Demonic‑type spiders and exploring, watching for a much larger spider whose design clearly stands out from the regular mobs.
During the fight, the Queen frequently stuns and uses wide‑area blast attacks. Staying mobile and avoiding being boxed in by other spiders reduces the risk of sudden deaths, especially if your armor and runes are still mid‑tier.
How to get Stolen Heart
Stolen Heart is one of the rarest ores in the update, and the main reason Raven 3 often takes longer than Raven 1 and 2 combined.
Stolen Heart drops from the Heart of the Island ore nodes inside the Red Cave, not from killing spiders. These floating red cores require around 650 mine power to mine reliably, which is why a high‑end pickaxe, such as the Prismatic Pickax,e is effectively mandatory before you start pushing Raven 3 seriously.
When you break a Heart of the Island node, one of several rare ores can pop out. Stolen Heart appears as a pink‑red crystal resembling a heart pierced by a blade and is marked as divine rarity. Its drop chance is very low, so expect many attempts before you see one.
One practical method to speed up farming is to partially mine a Heart of the Island block until it shows its ore drop, then move to another heart node if it is not the item you need, instead of fully breaking every block. Rotating between multiple respawns keeps your attempts high while saving time on less valuable ore drops such as Coinite.
Once you finally obtain a Stolen Heart, return to Raven in the Red Cave with all kill counts and the heart in your inventory. Handing it over completes Raven 3 and unlocks the Berserker Armor recipe, described in‑game as the last recipe of the Raven set.

How Raven quests tie into the Dragon Head Pickaxe and cult NPCs
Deeper in the Red Cave, beyond a bush‑hidden path behind the ruins, a group of cult‑like NPCs and a blacked‑out Dragon Head Pickaxe wait. While these tasks technically form a separate questline, they interlock closely with Raven’s story and the same resource ecosystem.
The cult NPC chain typically asks for:
- One Prismatic Heart from a prismatic spider boss
- One Yeti Heart from the Yeti boss in the Peak tunnels
- One Golem Heart from the Island 3 Golem boss through its portal near the mountain peak
Each heart is a rare drop, with the Yeti Heart and Golem Heart also functioning as high‑multiplier ores you sacrifice to progress. Completing all three cult quests unlocks the ability to purchase the Dragon Head Pickaxe for around 2.75 million coins, with a discount if you switch to the Goblin race beforehand.
The Dragon Head Pickaxe has 750 mine power, increased mine speed, a small luck boost, and four rune slots. A Prismatic Pickaxe can still mine large red crystals and Heart of the Island ores, but the Dragon Head Pickaxe makes future ore grinding more efficient, which indirectly helps with any remaining Red Cave farming.

Raven armor, Berserker Armor, and late‑game progression
The tangible reward for pushing through Raven’s requirements is a set of heavy armor recipes built for Island 3’s toughest content.
Raven Helmet and Raven Chestplate. These two pieces come from Raven 1 and Raven 2. Their exact stats depend on which ores you use when forging them, but they are tuned for heavy armor play and can outperform the Goblin Crown path if you are short on coins or do not want to sink 550,000 into the Goblin Lord’s demands.
Berserker Armor. Completing Raven 3 unlocks the Berserker Armor recipe, the final part of Raven’s set. With high‑end ores, Berserker pieces can easily reach very high defense, particularly if you wait to craft them until you have strong multipliers from Heart of the Island‑tier ores.
Because these recipes are permanent once unlocked, you are free to delay actual crafting until your ore inventory justifies it. Many players prefer to finish the questline using their existing gear, then return later with better ores for a high‑roll set rather than rushing early, low‑multiplier versions.
Raven’s quests turn Frostspire Expanse’s third island from a simple grind zone into a layered endgame loop. You start by clearing ordinary spiders and chipping Icy Pebbles, and end by farming rare bosses, mining divine‑tier hearts, and trading mythic boss drops to a hidden cult to unlock a dragon‑headed pickaxe. If you want access to the Red Cave, a full heavy armor path, and the update’s rarest ores, finishing all three Raven quests is not optional — it is the backbone of Island 3 progression.
