How to Get and Crack Geodes in Abyss (Roblox)

Geodes are special ores in Abyss that contain Artifacts — items that provide buffs and gameplay advantages. You obtain Geodes by fishing, then crack them open through an NPC named Virelia on the starting island. Each Geode type drops from a specific location and holds a fixed pool of Artifacts tied to that region.

Quick answer: While fishing, watch for a treasure chest icon on the right side of the screen. Keep your progress bar over the icon until you catch the Geode, then visit Virelia near the kraken on the starting island to open it for a random Artifact.

How to Catch Geodes While Fishing

Geodes appear randomly during the fishing minigame. When you hook a fish, a treasure chest icon may appear on the right side of your screen. To secure the Geode, keep your progress bar hovering over that icon long enough to collect it. Make sure you complete the fish catch — if you reel in too quickly, you may lose the Geode.

Geodes can also drop as quest rewards, though fishing remains the primary method.

Where to Find Each Geode Type

Three Geode types exist in Abyss, each tied to a specific fishing zone. The table below shows where to fish for each Geode and which Artifacts it can contain.

Geode Fishing Location Possible Artifacts
Mossy Geode Forgotten Deep, Ocean Banana (Common), Sea Star (Common), Hour Glass (Uncommon), Feather (Rare), Fish Bag (Rare), Poop (Epic), Holy Flower (Legendary)
Cactus Geode Ancient Sands Cactus (Common), Fish Crate (Uncommon), Sea Mine (Rare), Mutated Skull (Epic), Divine Hour Glass (Legendary), Infernal Eye (Mythical)
Rooted Geode Spirit Roots Tank (Rare), Lantern (Rare), Rune of Might (Rare), Demonic Hour Glass (Epic), Eternal Crystal (Legendary), Wraith Flower (Mythical)

Cactus and Rooted Geodes offer higher-rarity Artifacts (Epic to Mythical), while Mossy Geodes lean toward early-game items. Focus your fishing efforts in Ancient Sands or Spirit Roots if you want stronger buffs.

How to Crack Geodes With Virelia

Once you have a Geode, travel to the starting island and locate Virelia in the purple-lit area near the kraken. Interact with her and select the "Yes (Open Artifacts)" option. A menu will display your Geodes — choose the one you want to open and confirm.

Each Geode requires a certain amount of in-game currency and a wait time before it opens. The cost and duration vary by Geode type. After you accept the prompt, the timer begins. When it expires, you receive one random Artifact from that Geode's loot pool.

You cannot choose which Artifact you receive. The drop is random within the Geode's fixed list. If you want a specific Artifact, you must farm the correct Geode type and open multiple copies.

Verification and Failure Cases

After the timer completes, check your inventory for the new Artifact. The game does not display a pop-up confirmation, so open your inventory screen to verify the item arrived.

If you lose a Geode during fishing, the treasure chest icon will disappear before you finish the catch. This happens when you reel in the fish too quickly or fail to keep the progress bar aligned with the icon. Slow down your reeling speed and watch the icon position to avoid losing future Geodes.

Geodes do not expire in your inventory, so you can stockpile them and open them when you have enough currency.
