How to Get and Use the Keen Detector in Arknights: Endfield

Tracking down every storage crate scattered across Valley IV or Wuling can feel like searching for needles in a haystack. The Keen Detector exists specifically to solve this problem, pinpointing undiscovered crates so you can finish your exploration without combing through every corner of the map a second time.

Quick answer: Purchase the Keen Valley Detector or Keen Wuling Detector from a Stock Redistribution Terminal, then activate it from your Valuables Stash in the main menu to reveal one nearby storage crate on your map.

Where to buy the Keen Detector

The Keen Detector is sold at Stock Redistribution Terminals, the shops run by NPCs in bunny mascot suits (sometimes called "Lucky Carrot" vendors). You'll find these terminals in both Valley IV and Wuling. After completing the main missions in Valley Pass, a quest directs you to visit one of these shops, which is when the detector becomes available for purchase.

The initial price for a Keen Detector is 1,000 Stock Bills. Once you've bought the initial stock, you can upgrade the terminal to replenish inventory, but subsequent detectors cost 5,000 Stock Bills each. Early in the game, this feels expensive, but later on, you'll accumulate enough currency that buying multiple detectors becomes practical.

Each region has its own version of the detector. The Keen Valley Detector only works in Valley IV, while the Keen Wuling Detector only functions in Wuling. Make sure you're buying the correct one for the area you're exploring.

Activating the detector

Step 1: Open the main menu by pressing Escape on PC. On the right side of the menu, scroll until you find the "Valuables" category.

Step 2: Select the Keen Detector from your Valuables Stash. Choose "Use" from the options in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Step 3: The detector consumes itself and pings one nearby undiscovered storage crate. The crate's location appears as a marker on your map, making it easy to track down.

Each detector reveals only one crate per use. If you're missing several crates in a region, you'll need to purchase and activate multiple detectors.

Requirements before use

The Keen Detector cannot be activated until you've fully explored all fogged areas in the current region. If parts of your map remain obscured by fog of war, the item simply won't work. Clear the fog first by visiting all areas, then return to use your detectors.

This restriction makes the detector a late-exploration tool rather than something you use while first discovering a region. It's designed to help you find the last few crates you missed, not to guide your initial exploration.

Region-locked functionality

Detectors are tied to specific regions and cannot be used elsewhere. A Keen Valley Detector purchased from a Valley IV terminal works exclusively in Valley IV. If you travel to Wuling and try to use it, nothing happens. The same applies in reverse: Wuling detectors only reveal crates in Wuling.

This means you'll need to manage your Stock Bills across regions if you want to hunt crates in multiple areas. Plan your purchases accordingly, especially if you're working toward achievements like "Valley Crate Master" which requires opening 270 storage crates in Valley IV.

Keen Compass for Aurylene

A companion item called the Keen Valley Compass (or Keen Wuling Compass) works similarly but reveals Aurylene locations instead of storage crates. Both items are sold at the same Stock Redistribution Terminals and follow the same activation process through the Valuables Stash. If you're hunting for those glowing white orbs to redeem at fast travel points, the compass is what you need.

When to use detectors

The best time to use Keen Detectors is after you've completed all missions in a region and manually explored as much as possible. Some crates are locked behind side quests or require solving puzzles, so finishing the mission list first ensures you're not wasting detectors on crates you couldn't access anyway.

Teammates sometimes point out nearby collectibles with an icon above their heads, which can help you find crates without spending Stock Bills. Use this free assistance first, then turn to detectors for the final stragglers.

For players chasing 100% exploration or specific achievements, the Keen Detector transforms a tedious search into a straightforward checklist. Buy a few, clear the fog, and let the item do the work of locating what you missed.
