How to get unstuck in Arc Raiders when the map traps you

Getting wedged between rocks or clipped under terrain in ARC Raiders isn’t rare, and it can cost you your haul if you panic. The game includes an Unstuck behavior that can reposition your character without ending the session, but it doesn’t live in a pause menu, and it isn’t always obvious when it’s available. Here’s how to trigger it reliably, what to expect, and what to do when it doesn’t resolve the jam.

Use the built‑in Unstuck prompt (PC: hold Space)

ARC Raiders surfaces an on‑screen Unstuck prompt after your character remains stuck and motionless for a short period. When it appears, hold the indicated input to trigger a “reposition” action.

  • On PC keyboards, the prompt asks you to hold Space to Unstuck.
  • The text can read similar to reposition player.

When it completes, the game places your raider at a nearby safe spot so you can continue the run.

Note: The prompt can be brief and may only present once while the game detects you as immobilized. Be ready to commit to the hold as soon as it appears.

Make the Unstuck option appear

If you’re clipped into geometry, sliding in place, or stuck in a “falling” animation loop, the easiest way to get the game to offer Unstuck is to stop sending movement inputs and wait.

  • Release movement entirely and keep your character still.
  • Give it roughly a minute. In many cases, the prompt appears around the 45‑second mark of no movement.
  • If you’re sliding against a surface, stop pressing keys to let the character settle; continuous inputs can delay detection.

Once the on‑screen instruction pops, hold the indicated input without interruption until the reposition completes.

If Unstuck appears but doesn’t fix your position

Occasionally, Unstuck can relocate you into another bad spot (for example, wedged further into the map). If the prompt no longer appears after that first attempt, you’re down to in‑raid fallbacks:

  • Stay still again for another minute to see if the game re‑offers Unstuck. In some situations it won’t; don’t count on unlimited retries.
  • If you can swivel your view to aggro a nearby enemy, do it and let them down you to force a respawn opportunity with your squad.
  • If you’re isolated with no enemies around, let the raid timer run out. You’ll lose the time, but you won’t fight the geometry.

If none of those are possible, you’ll need to leave the application or return to the main menu, which can forfeit items you haven’t secured. Use that only when you’ve exhausted the in‑session options.

If the Unstuck prompt never shows

Not every stuck scenario trips the detector quickly. If you’ve waited a couple of minutes while completely still and haven’t seen the prompt:

  • Try repositioning your camera once, then return to no‑input for another minute.
  • If the area is reachable by enemies, draw attention and allow a down to reset your position.
  • As a last resort, exit the session or close the game. Expect potential loot loss if you haven’t extracted.
Tip: If you know you get snagged in the same spot (common around jagged rocks and steep slopes), avoid sliding diagonally across that surface on future runs. Navigating slightly wider or dropping to a flatter line helps you avoid re‑triggering the snag.

Why there isn’t a pause‑menu Unstuck button

Right now, ARC Raiders doesn’t offer a user‑initiated Unstuck button in the ESC/pause menu. The current behavior is time‑based: the game surfaces Unstuck only after it decides you haven’t been able to move for a while. That design limits abuse but also means you need to wait for the detection window rather than tapping a menu command.

Some situations also show the prompt only once and for a short time. If you miss it, it may not reappear in that same stuck state.

Quick reference

Scenario What to do What to expect
Wedged between rocks, no movement possible Release all inputs, wait ~45–60s On‑screen Unstuck; hold Space on PC to reposition
Looping “falling” animation on a slope Stop input entirely, wait for prompt Unstuck relocates you to nearby stable ground
Unstuck moved you into another bad spot Stop again to check for a second prompt; otherwise trigger a down May not offer a second Unstuck; use in‑raid fallbacks
No prompt after a couple of minutes Aggro enemies to down you, or let the raid timer expire Respawn opportunity with potential time/loot cost
Isolated, no enemies, timer far off Exit to menu or close the app as a last resort Session ends; unsaved loot can be lost

If you repeatedly get trapped at a specific coordinate, make a mental note of the spot and path around it on future runs. The built‑in Unstuck can save a raid, but it’s easier not to rely on it—especially when the prompt window is short and may only arrive once.
