How to Grab Crimson Desert's Righteous Verdict Without Fighting a Single Enemy

How to Grab Crimson Desert's Righteous Verdict Without Fighting a Single Enemy

The Righteous Verdict is one of the strongest two-handed weapons you can pick up early in Crimson Desert, and it's tucked inside the Demeniss Ancestors' Ruins — a location that doesn't appear on your map. The sword arrives at refinement Level 4 with 23 Attack, Lv 3 Critical Rate, and Lv 2 Attack Speed, putting it on par with late-game options like the Darkbringer and the Vessel of Dark Pursuit. Best of all, you can grab it without swinging your weapon once.

Quick answer: Travel to the Nightfell Expedition Camp in Wells Estate, enter the cave in the southwestern corner of the camp, navigate through the Demeniss Ancestors' Ruins behind the underground waterfall, and pick up the Righteous Verdict from the stone slab in the final chamber.

The combination of high crit rate and attack speed out of the box makes the Righteous Verdict effective against bosses and general exploration alike. It doesn't ship with unique Abyss Gear, but five open slots mean you can customize it however you want.

Getting to the Nightfell Expedition Camp

The Nightfell Expedition Camp sits in the southern region of Demeniss, within Wells Estate, not far from the southernmost tip of the landmass. No main story progression is required to reach it. If you haven't ventured far from the starting region of Hernand, your nearest fast travel point is likely the town of Pororin — head south from there.

The camp itself is occupied by enemies. You have two choices here, and neither affects your ability to get the sword.

Route 1 — Fight through or sneak past the camp

Step 1: Arrive at the Nightfell Expedition Camp. You can clear out the enemies if you want control of the camp, or you can skip them entirely. To bypass the fight, climb the cliff overlooking the camp and glide down into its southwestern corner, landing near the cave entrance while avoiding most of the hostile NPCs.

Step 2: Look for a cave opening along the base of the cliff face in the southwestern corner of the camp. The entrance is easy to miss — it blends into the rock wall.

Step 3: Head inside and follow the narrow path forward. The passage is tight in places, so move carefully. Eventually, you'll reach an open area with an underground waterfall.

Step 4: At the waterfall, turn left. Cross the fallen tree trunks that form a makeshift bridge. Be aware that the logs can break as you near the end, so move steadily. Follow the path behind the waterfall itself — this leads into the Demeniss Ancestors' Ruins.

Step 5: Descend the stairs and wait for a large stone door to open on its own. Once through, you'll face a gap spanned by stone pillars. Jump across them to reach the other side. If you fall, you can swim to the edge and climb back up, provided you have enough stamina. Using the flight ability or a triple-jump-and-glide makes this crossing much easier.

Step 6: A second stone door waits on the far side. Let it open, then continue forward into the final chamber. The Righteous Verdict is stabbed into an ornate stone slab on the ground, roughly three-quarters of the way through the room. Walk up and interact with it to add it to your inventory.

💡
If you have the flight ability unlocked, jump three times from the platform edge and glide across the gap to the final room. This removes nearly all the difficulty from the pillar-crossing section.

Route 2 — Drop in from the Thornbriar Mountains

If you'd rather skip the camp entirely, head to the Thornbriar Mountains in Wells Estate. This ridge sits directly above the cave that Route 1 enters from ground level.

Step 1: Position yourself on the Thornbriar Mountains above the cave. Look for the opening below you.

Step 2: Glide down directly into the cave entrance. No enemies, no camp — just a straight drop into the underground path.

Step 3: From here, follow the same interior route described in Route 1 (Steps 3–6): navigate past the waterfall, cross the tree trunks, pass through the stone doors, jump the gap, and collect the sword.

This is the faster option for anyone who already knows the cave layout or simply wants the weapon with zero combat.

How to confirm you picked it up

Once you interact with the stone slab, the Righteous Verdict appears in your weapon inventory as a Level 4 refined two-handed greatsword. You can equip it immediately. To add Abyss Gears, visit any Witch NPC — the sword supports up to five slots, letting you stack additional bonuses on top of its already strong base stats.

The Righteous Verdict is worth the detour early in your Crimson Desert playthrough. A pre-refined greatsword with Lv 3 Critical Rate and Lv 2 Attack Speed is hard to match at that stage of the game, and the fact that you can grab it without a single fight makes it one of the most accessible, powerful weapons in the entire open world.
