Brave Together, the in-browser video calling service from the privacy-focused browser Brave, is another video conference service in the long-line of such apps and services. The service is making its debut at this much needed time and even though it joined the race somewhat late, it would be unfair to dismiss it.

The video calling service would be encrypted end-to-end to keep up with the company’s mission to protect users’ privacy. Brave Together doesn’t require registration, or account creation of any sort, making it dramatically easy for everyone to use it, even for people who struggle with technology.

Joining a call on Brave Together is also as easy as everything else on the platform. All you need is a Brave meeting link, maybe a password (depends on the meeting moderator), and the Brave browser on your computer.

The Brave browser for iOS and Android mobile apps does not support Brave Together calls as of yet, but there’s an easy workaround for that. Brave Together is based on the open-source video software Jitsi, and therein lies the whole solution for people who want to join a Brave Together meeting from their mobile phones. So let’s begin.

Join a Brave Together Call from your PC

To join a Brave call from your PC, you must have the Brave browser installed on your system. It covers pretty much all bases and is available to download for Windows, macOS, as well as Linux. The download and installation take less than a minute if you have a decent internet connection.

Once you have downloaded the browser, copy the Brave meeting link you received as an invitation and paste it into the Brave browser. Below is an example of a Brave Together meeting link:

https://together.brave.com/xxxxxxxxxxx_xxx_xx

The browser would ask for permission to access your microphone and camera, click on ‘Allow’. This step would become obsolete if you have already given the website access on this browser, but not for the first time users obviously.

If the meeting has no password, you will enter the meeting room directly. Otherwise, a dialog box will require you to enter the password. Ask the meeting moderator for the password if you don’t have it.

Type the password in dialog box and click the ‘OK’ button to enter the meeting room.

Join a Brave Together Call from your Mobile Phone

The Brave browser app for iOS and Android phones does not support the Brave Together calls yet, but if you need to join a meeting ASAP and only have access to your mobile phone, it is achievable. Go to the App Store or the Play Store on your phone and download the Jitsi Meet app.

Open the app. Just like Brave Together, it requires no registration. Tap on the textbox beneath ‘Enter Room name’ and paste the link for the meeting there.

Then, tap on the ‘Create / Join’ button to proceed.

Just as in the browser, if the meeting is not password protected, you will immediately enter the meeting room. Otherwise, enter the password to get into the meeting room.

The Brave Together initiative by Brave can prove to be a welcome one, especially for less formal virtual get together such as ones with friends and family. Joining a meeting on Brave Together is also quite simple and straightforward.
