The “Decipher How to Open the Stone Door” objective in Where Winds Meet shows up during the Mysterious Colossus quest when you reach a sealed stone door facing a small ritual setup. The scene looks self-explanatory, but repeatedly using the offering prompt won’t move the door until you use a specific Mystic Skill.
Where the stone door puzzle appears in Mysterious Colossus
You reach the puzzle after progressing through the quest flow that leads you into the colossus courtyard, then onward by following deer tracks with Wind Sense until you arrive at a stone gate blocking a cave entrance. The puzzle area has two worshippers positioned on either side and a central statue that lets you interact to “Make Offering” or “Worship.”
The key detail is behavioral. If you approach the worshippers too closely, they panic and break their pose, which prevents the ritual from registering correctly when you interact with the statue.

Meridian Touch is the requirement that makes the door react
The door opens only after both worshippers are locked in place. The mechanic is tied to Meridian Touch, a Mystic Skill used for puzzle interactions that applies an immobilize/petrify effect. Once the two NPCs are immobilized, the offering at the statue properly triggers the mechanism, and the stone door slides open.
Equip Meridian Touch (Develop → Mystic Skills)
Step 1: Open the menu and go to the Develop tab. Enter the skills area so you can change what’s currently equipped.

Step 2: Navigate to Mystic Skills and find Meridian Touch under the puzzle-focused set (shown as a Puzzles tab/sub-tab). Assign it to a slot you can use in the field.

Solve the stone door puzzle (immobilize both worshippers, then offer)
Step 1: Move to one worshipper and line up your camera so the NPC is clearly targeted. If the worshipper is startled, back up until they settle into the worship pose again.
Step 2: Use Meridian Touch and apply the immobilize effect on the first worshipper. The NPC should appear “stoned” and stop reacting or moving.

Step 3: Repeat the same action on the second worshipper on the other side. Both worshippers need to be immobilized before you interact with the statue.
Step 4: Return to the central statue and use the Make Offering / Worship interaction. With both worshippers locked in place, the mechanism triggers, and the stone door opens so you can continue into the cave.

Optional pickups before opening the door
The area around the shrine has side loot worth grabbing before you trigger the door: a book near the puzzle space, at least two chests on higher ledges reachable via nearby stairs, and collectible “tears” that are used later and can be easy to miss. If you want a clean run through the quest, it’s simpler to sweep the platforms and ledges first, then come back to immobilize the worshippers and open the gate.

Troubleshooting when the door won’t open
Door doesn’t react after the offering: One worshipper likely wasn’t immobilized, or the effect broke before you offered. Re-check both sides, reapply Meridian Touch, and try the offering again.
Meridian Touch won’t cast: It’s usually not slotted, or you’re on the wrong active bar. Go back to Develop → Mystic Skills and confirm Meridian Touch is equipped to an active slot.
The skill hits the wrong target: Adjust position and camera until the worshipper is clearly targeted, then cast again. The statue and empty space are easy to catch if you’re slightly off-angle.
Once both worshippers are immobilized and you make the offering at the statue, the quest advances to entering the cave and continues from there.
