“Reduced to Rubble” is the first time Arc Raiders asks you to “take a photo,” which makes the objective sound like a screenshot or a photo mode task. It isn’t. You’re looking for an in-world interaction point at the Highway Collapse point of interest (POI) on the Blue Gate map, then another at Broken Earth, a short run to the east.
Take a photo of the collapsed highway (Blue Gate)
Head to the Highway Collapse POI in the southern part of Blue Gate. You don’t need a photo mode, a keybind, or a special camera item. The “photo” completes when you stand in a specific spot and use the standard interact prompt.
- Move along the broken span and the nearby treeline until you find a yellow/amber prompt that reads “Take photo.” There are multiple valid spots around the collapse.
- If you’re underneath the highway and nothing appears, climb up to the road level; several prompts are on the upper edge of the break rather than below it.
- If the prompt is visible but grayed out, rotate to face the collapsed roadway and adjust a few steps forward or back until the action lights up.
- Binoculars are not required. This step is purely an in-world interaction.
Follow the trail of destruction through Broken Earth
After the highway photo, the objective updates to Broken Earth. From Highway Collapse, travel east past Olive Grove and into the Broken Earth POI. You’ll be funneled through a carved-out ravine that leads to a massive downed ARC machine.
- Approach the wreck and look for the “Investigate” interaction at its base. Use the prompt to complete the objective.
Once both interactions are done, leave Blue Gate via extraction and turn in the quest to Shani to receive your rewards.
Why the photo prompt won’t trigger
- You’re on the wrong level: climb to the road surface; many prompts sit right on the edge of the gap.
- You’re facing away from the collapse: rotate to look directly at the broken span.
- You’re slightly off the spot: slide a few meters or adjust your angle; there are multiple interaction points and some are finicky.
- You’re under pressure: hostile fire can interrupt interactions; clear the area and retry.

Rewards
Turn in “Reduced to Rubble” to receive a Zipline, three Barricade Kits, and three Door Blockers. Shani will then offer the next quest, “With a Trace.”
