How to Play All Game Modes in Roblox Knockout

Knockout is a Roblox experience where players control penguins and compete to be the last one standing on shrinking ice platforms. The game features two main modes—FFA (Free For All) and 2 Teams—alongside five distinct maps that introduce unique hazards and mechanics. Knowing how each mode works and how to vote for your preferred setup helps you adapt your strategy and earn Ice currency faster.

Quick answer: To vote for a mode, tap the mode button at the top of the screen between rounds. The mode with the most votes has the highest chance of appearing in the next match.

FFA Game Mode

FFA stands for Free For All. Every player competes individually, and the last penguin standing wins the round. You earn bonus rewards for surviving and additional Ice if you successfully knock out other players by touching them before they fall off the platform.

You can play aggressively by targeting opponents or defensively by avoiding confrontation and staying near the center of the shrinking arena. Both approaches work, but aggressive play rewards you with extra currency when you secure eliminations. Since there are no teammates, you don't need to worry about friendly fire or coordination.

2 Teams Game Mode

2 Teams splits the server into red and blue sides. Your goal is to eliminate all members of the opposing team before your own team is wiped out. Teamwork becomes essential, especially on maps with narrow bridges or limited safe zones.

You can identify teammates in two ways: you see their aim path and launch strength indicators, and every penguin displays a colored arrow above their head matching their team color (red or blue). Watch where your teammates are aiming to avoid bumping into each other during launches, which can send both of you off the platform. On maps like Penguin Peak or Polar Portals, blocking narrow paths can trap opponents in danger zones, but the same tactic can backfire if you obstruct your own team's escape route.

Voting for Modes Between Rounds

Before each match begins, a short voting window appears. Tap the mode button at the top of the screen to cast your vote for either FFA or 2 Teams. The game tallies all votes and selects the mode with the most support, though the outcome isn't guaranteed if votes are split evenly.

The lobby screen shows "Choose a Mode". Options are FFA and 2 Teams. The group selects "2 Teams".

After the mode is chosen, the game cycles through the available maps and picks one. You can also vote for specific maps by spending Robux in the map selection screen, which increases the likelihood of that map appearing. Maps cost between 0 and 19 Robux, depending on their complexity and popularity.

Classic Map

Classic is a large square ice platform that shrinks after each round. The arena reduces in size progressively, forcing players closer together. You can play aggressively by pushing opponents toward the edges or defensively by staying near the center and avoiding conflict. Even if you're standing on the edge when the platform shrinks, you won't fall off immediately—the game gives you a moment to reposition.

Penguin Peak Map

Penguin Peak consists of multiple isolated sections connected by narrow bridges. Each round, one section changes color to indicate it will disappear when the round ends. The color progression is bright yellow, dark yellow, and then red. Red sections vanish at the end of the round, eliminating any players still standing on them.

Pay attention to floor colors and move to safe sections early. You can use the narrow bridges strategically by blocking opponents who are trying to escape from red zones, but be careful not to trap yourself or your teammates in the process.

Polar Portals Map

Polar Portals features four separate sections linked by bridges. Portals are scattered across the map and allow instant teleportation to the opposite side. This mechanic adds unpredictability—you can escape danger quickly or surprise opponents by appearing behind them.

The bridges are wider than those on Penguin Peak, but they still become choke points during chaotic moments. Use portals to reposition when your section is about to shrink or to flank opponents who aren't expecting a sudden appearance.

Bubblegum Bayou Map

Bubblegum Bayou is filled with purple bubbles that bounce any player who touches them. The bubbles move unpredictably after each round, and the platform shrinks as usual. Getting hit by a bubble can launch you off the map if you're near an edge, but it can also save you by bouncing you back toward the center.

Planning is difficult on this map because bubble positions change constantly. Focus on maintaining safe positioning and avoid launching yourself directly at bubbles unless you're confident you can control the bounce.

Color Block Map

Color Block displays instructions at the top of the screen each round, such as "Get on a PURPLE tile!" or "Get on a WHITE tile!" When the round ends, every tile that doesn't match the instruction disappears, and players standing on them are eliminated.

You have two strategies: find a color tile far from other players and head there safely, or charge into a crowded tile and try to knock opponents off before the round ends. The second approach is riskier but can eliminate multiple players at once if you time your launches correctly.

Earning Ice Currency

Ice is the primary currency in Knockout. You earn it by surviving rounds, winning matches, and knocking out opponents. Winning a match grants bonus Ice, and eliminating other players adds smaller amounts per knockout. You spend Ice on eggs in the Skin Shop, which contain cosmetic skins and arrows.

If you're struggling to accumulate Ice, check for active promo codes. Codes occasionally provide free Ice, spins for the Prize Wheel, or exclusive skins. The Prize Wheel itself offers Ice rewards ranging from 75 to 400, along with random eggs and rare skins like Aurora.

Mastering both modes and understanding each map's mechanics gives you a clear advantage. FFA rewards individual skill and positioning, while 2 Teams requires coordination and awareness of your teammates' movements. Voting strategically and adapting your playstyle to the chosen map and mode will help you win more consistently and earn Ice faster.
