How to play the Black Ops 7 beta on Steam (dates, codes, install)
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7Who gets in, when servers go live, and the exact steps to redeem and install.

The Black Ops 7 beta runs in two parts: Early Access and then an Open Beta. On Steam, entry is either automatic with a digital preorder or handled through a single code redemption flow if you bought a physical copy with a code.
Black Ops 7 beta (Steam): dates and start times
Phase | Start | End | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Early Access | Oct 2, 10:00 AM PT | Oct 5, 10:00 AM PT | Digital preorders and other qualified access only |
Open Beta | Oct 5, 10:00 AM PT | Oct 8, 10:00 AM PT | Available to all players on Steam |
Note: Zombies Survival is enabled during the beta for a limited time beginning Oct 3.
Who gets Early Access on Steam
- Digital preorder on Steam: no code needed; access is automatic on your Steam account.
- Physical preorder with a code: redeem once to register, then redeem the token Steam gives you (steps below).
- Otherwise, wait for the Open Beta window to download and play free on Steam.
Tip: When registering a retail code, the region you choose must match your Steam account’s region to avoid an unusable token.

Redeem an Early Access code for Steam
If your preorder included a code, complete these two parts:
- Register your retail code at callofduty.com/betaredeem. Sign in to your Activision account, choose Steam as your platform, and select the correct region.
- Retrieve your Early Access token (sent via email and also visible at the redemption site before Early Access begins) and redeem it in the Steam client:
- Open Steam > bottom-left “Add a Game” > “Activate a Product on Steam…”
- Enter the token and finish the prompts.
If you didn’t get the email token after registering, check the redemption portal above; tokens are also posted there once they’re issued.
Install and launch the beta on Steam
You can install from either the Call of Duty app already in your library or the Steam Store:
- If Call of Duty is already installed in your Steam library: the beta arrives as a game update and unlocks inside Call of Duty when the beta goes live on your account.
- If Call of Duty is not installed: in the Steam Store, search for “Call of Duty” and select the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7” beta tile to download.
During Open Beta (Oct 5–8), you can download and play without any preorder or code.
PC security requirements (Steam)
On PC, the beta enforces platform security. Ensure your system supports and has enabled:
- TPM 2.0
- Secure Boot
For details and enforcement guidance, use the Activision TPM/Secure Boot help at support.activision.com/tpm.
What’s in the beta (high level)
Date | Highlights |
---|---|

Oct 3 | Zombies Survival limited-time access begins; Overload mode added to the playlist |
Oct 4 | Search & Destroy added to the playlist |
Oct 5 (Open Beta start) | All players on Steam; additional maps unlock |
Progression includes a beta-specific level track with cosmetic rewards that carry over to your account at launch once earned.
Quick checklist for Steam players
- Mark the live time: 10:00 AM PT for each phase start/end.
- Digital preorder on Steam: just install and play when live.
- Retail code: register at callofduty.com/betaredeem, then activate the token in Steam.
- Open Beta (Oct 5–8): no code or preorder needed; install from the Steam Store.
- On PC: confirm TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are enabled (support.activision.com/tpm).
If you still can’t access the beta after these steps, wait a few minutes after the phase goes live and retry; account validation and region sync can take a short time to propagate.
