If you want to extend the lifespan of your laptop battery, it is important to keep the charge-discharge cycle from reaching extremes. This means that you should try to prevent the battery from completely draining down to zero and also avoid charging it to 100%. Doing so will cause less strain on the battery and keep it in good condition for a longer period. While you need to pay attention to prevent your laptop battery from getting discharged completely, you can automatically adjust a few settings on your machine to ensure that it does not charge above 80%.

Things to know
- Laptops from different manufacturers usually come with software that lets you limit the battery charging easily but they may not be available on all models.
- Such software may either let you set specific charge limits or may have a feature that automatically controls it. If you do not want to manually control how your battery charges, the automatic feature can be very useful.
- If your laptop does not have any manufacturer-provided software for setting a charging limit on your laptop battery, there are certain third-party options you can use for the purpose.
