WavesLine Insider is a short, hidden Side Quest in Wuthering Waves that ties into Lahai-Roi’s reconstruction work and the Route Network missions. It’s easy to miss if you just follow the main story, but it pays out Astrites, materials, and a unique trophy once you track it down.
WavesLine Insider quest requirements
The quest only appears after you’ve pushed Lahai-Roi’s infrastructure forward and cleared key Route Network content. Before you look for it in your quest log, make sure you have completed all of the following:
- Started the Lahai-Roi Reconstruction Project quest line.
- Rebuilt Orbit Valley Pass – South.
- Completed “Route Network Crisis Part I”.
- Rebuilt Starleap Ascent in Etching Plains.
- Rebuilt Howling Tunnel in Rebirth Uplands.
- Completed “Route Network Crisis Part II”.
- Read the first mysterious WavesLine message from an unknown sender.
Only after all of these conditions are met does the game queue up the trigger for WavesLine Insider.
How to trigger the WavesLine Insider quest
Step 1: Open WavesLine on your in-game terminal and make sure you’ve read the earlier message from the unknown contact. This earlier exchange is part of the Route Network-related content and is a hard requirement.
Step 2: Advance the in-game clock by two days. You can do this with the time-skip function from the main menu once you’re in free roam.
Step 3: After the time skip, check WavesLine again. The same unknown sender will now push a new message containing a photo of an Outcast camp and asking you to come over. When you accept or track the objective, the WavesLine Insider Side Quest is officially added to your log.
Clear the Outcast camp in Golden Spiral
Once the quest is active, your map and navigation pointer do most of the work.
Step 1: Set WavesLine Insider as your tracked quest if it isn’t already. Follow the yellow quest marker to the Outcast camp in the Golden Spiral area of Lahai-Roi.
Step 2: Enter the camp and defeat every Outcast in the marked zone. Treat it as a standard combat encounter; there are no extra mechanics beyond clearing the enemies.
Step 3: After the last Outcast falls, an Advanced Supply Chest will be available inside the camp. Open it to receive 20 Astrites and standard loot.
Meet the WavesLine insider and finish the quest
Taking the camp is only half of the arc; the other half is finally putting a face to your mystery contact.
Step 1: After looting the chest, watch for another message on WavesLine. The unknown sender now transmits direct coordinates instead of a photo.
Step 2: Track the new objective and travel to the marked location. The navigation will lead you to a meeting spot away from the camp.
Step 3: At the destination, you discover that the “insider” is Macknay, the hauler driver you’ve already encountered elsewhere in Lahai-Roi. Talk to Macknay and exhaust the quest dialogue.
Step 4: Once the conversation ends, the WavesLine Insider Side Quest completes automatically. Your rewards include level-up materials and the trophy “On the Frontline”, which is logged under your account’s trophy list.
After this, Macknay goes back to being a familiar face around Lahai-Roi’s roads, and WavesLine Insider is permanently checked off your Side Quest list. If you’re trophy hunting in version 3.0’s Lahai-Roi content, treating the Lahai-Roi Reconstruction Project and Route Network Crisis quests as mandatory groundwork will naturally place you in front of this quest’s trigger with minimal extra effort.
