Apple's latest updates with macOS Sonoma and iOS 17 have introduced a seamless way to display your iPhone widgets directly on your Mac. This integration allows you to enjoy your favorite widgets on your Mac's Home Screen or Notification Center, even if the corresponding apps aren't installed on your computer.
To begin, ensure both your Mac and iPhone are updated to macOS Sonoma and iOS 17 respectively. Sign in with the same Apple ID on both devices, and make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled. Both devices should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and be in close proximity to utilize Continuity features.
Step 1: Decide where you want to add the iPhone widget on your Mac. You can place widgets either in the Notification Center or on the Home Screen of your Mac.
Step 2: To add a widget to the Notification Center, click on the 'Date and Time' display in the status bar to open it.
Step 3: Once the Notification Center is open, click on 'Edit Widgets' at the bottom of the panel.
Step 4: To add a widget to your Home Screen instead, right-click on your desktop wallpaper and select 'Edit Widgets' from the context menu that appears.
Step 5: The Widget Gallery will open, showcasing available widgets. Scroll down to find widgets labeled 'From iPhone' in the top-right corner, indicating they are sourced from your iPhone.
Step 6: Browse through the widgets to find the one you wish to add. You can also utilize the search bar on the left to quickly locate a specific app's widget.
Step 7: If an app is available on both your iPhone and Mac, you can choose between the Mac and iPhone versions of its widget. Click on the 'From iPhone' tab in the top-right corner of the widget to select the iPhone version.
Step 8: Add the widget to your Mac by clicking on it or dragging and dropping it to your preferred location on the Home Screen or within the Notification Center.
Step 9: Be aware that some iPhone widgets added to your Mac may not be fully interactive. Clicking on these widgets may prompt a message saying, "Open [App] on iPhone to continue." However, certain widgets like Reminders retain full functionality even when sourced from your iPhone.
Integrating your favorite iPhone widgets onto your Mac enhances your user experience by providing quick access to essential information across devices. With this seamless connection, you can stay informed and organized without switching between your iPhone and Mac.
