The Lay of the Land quest takes place on the Spaceport map and must be completed in a single deployment. You’ll visit Jiangsu Warehouse to grab paperwork, then push to Control Tower A6 to secure a LiDAR Scanner, extract alive, and hand one scanner to Shani.
Quest overview and run requirements
- Reach Jiangsu Warehouse (Spaceport).
- Find the shipping notes in the foreman’s office.
- Locate the scanners on the upper floor of Control Tower A6.
- Extract and deliver 1 LiDAR Scanner to Shani.
All tasks need to be done in one run. You must extract with the LiDAR Scanner quest item in your inventory before you can deliver it. Plan a dedicated route and keep a slot free for the scanner.

Jiangsu Warehouse location and shipping notes
Head to the west side of Spaceport. Jiangsu Warehouse sits near the Fuel Depot on the outer edge. Inside, take the staircase up to the office that overlooks the sand-filled warehouse floor. The shipping notes are on the desk at the far end of that office. Interact to collect them, then move on—this stop is usually quieter than the center of the map.
Control Tower A6 scanner location
From the warehouse, cut toward the middle of Spaceport. Control Tower A6 is the shorter, square building next to the big launch tower. Use the main entrance and go left; there’s a door hiding a staircase. Take it to the upper (second) floor—no key required.
- At the top of the stairs, turn right, then right again past a zipline and low divider walls.
- Look for a small metal container/cubicle behind those walls. Search it to reveal the LiDAR Scanner.
- Pick up the scanner item. Ensure you have at least one free inventory slot.
Extraction and delivery to Shani
With the notes collected and the LiDAR Scanner in your bag, head to an extraction point and leave the surface. Back at base, deliver a LiDAR Scanner to Shani to finish the quest. If you have a safe pocket available, place the scanner there before rotating to extract to avoid losing it if things go wrong on the way out.
Known pitfalls and fixes (quest not completing)
- You must pick up the scanner after searching: The yellow “search” interaction reveals the item. Interact a second time to pick up the LiDAR Scanner. If you only searched, you’ll see a checkmark in-raid, but the quest will reset when you return to the lobby.
- Inventory slot requirement: If the item doesn’t appear in your inventory, clear at least one free slot. If you can’t see the scanner after searching, approach with no free slots—this forces the item to pop out onto the floor—then drop something and pick it up.
- “Deliver” checked but quest won’t complete: If a previous run left you with the deliver step ticked but the quest stuck, enter any raid with the scanner in your inventory, drop it on the ground, then extract or die. This resets the deliver condition so you can redo the objective chain normally.
Squad play specifics (credit and extraction)
- Each squad member needs the scanner: Team checkmarks during the search do not grant completion to everyone. Every player must pick up a scanner and extract with it to receive credit.
- Deaths void credit: If a teammate carrying the scanner dies en route to extraction, they won’t complete the quest and must repeat the objectives.
- Coordinating in one deployment: To avoid shared checkmark confusion, let one player enter and complete the step while another waits outside the objective area, then swap. Ensure each player physically picks up their own scanner before extracting.
