Marathon's Order/Chaos Contract — Terminal Locations and Full Walkthrough

Order/Chaos is the first real MIDA priority contract in Marathon, and it's a significant step up from the window-smashing errand that precedes it. Gantry hands you three sequential objectives scattered across Dire Marsh, and every one of them must be completed in a single run. Fail or die before finishing, and you start the whole contract over.

Quick answer: Hack the red terminal inside the yellow NuCaloric building in south Complex, kill the Security Commander that spawns, and grab its credentials, then travel southwest to the Maintenance hangar and interact with the terminal on the ground floor to download the data.

Hack the terminal in south Complex

Complex sits on the eastern side of Dire Marsh and is split into a northern and southern section. You want the southern half. Look for a yellow-walled NuCaloric Agriculture building with large "CPLX-3" lettering above the upper walkway. The red terminal you need is on the ground floor, inside an office-like room on the eastern edge of the building, overlooking the swamp.

Approach the terminal and interact with it. The hack animation takes a few seconds, and you're completely exposed during it, so clear out any nearby UESC enemies or hostile Runners first. If you're running in Trios, have your teammates watch the entrances while you work.

💡
If you're struggling to pinpoint any objective mid-run, open your map, navigate to the contract tab, and hover over the specific step you're on. The map overlay gives more precise location hints than the contract description alone.

Kill the Security Commander and grab the credentials

The moment you finish hacking, a UESC drop-ship arrives and deploys reinforcements, including a Security Commander. A pink diamond icon appears on your HUD to track the Commander's position, so you won't have to search far.

The Security Commander has blue shields but isn't nearly as tanky as some other priority contract bosses. A couple of magazines from a common SMG like the Bully is enough to bring it down. It does spawn alongside regular UESC soldiers, though, so use the corridors and vents around Complex to isolate the Commander if the fight gets hectic.

Once the Commander drops, pick up the UESC Credentials from its body. The item shows up as a yellow quest icon on the ground, consistent with other contract pickups you've seen before.

Download data from the terminal in south Maintenance

Maintenance is in the southwest corner of Dire Marsh, which means you have a long run ahead of you from Complex. The safest route is to head south out of Complex, hug the bottom edge of the map past AI Uplink and Canal, and approach Maintenance from the south.

The terminal is not inside the control room, which is a common mistake. Instead, head into the large hangar at the far south end of Maintenance. On the ground level, between some parked trucks and sitting on the side of a workbench, you'll find the terminal. Interact with it to download the encrypted data and complete the contract.

⚠️
You do not need to extract alive after downloading the data. The contract completes the moment you interact with the Maintenance terminal. However, if you die or leave the match before finishing all three steps, the entire contract resets.

Tips for surviving the run

Because all three steps must happen in one match, gear risk is the biggest concern. Consider bringing a Sponsored Kit so you don't lose your own equipment if things go sideways. Complex is a high-traffic area, especially in the days after launch, so expect PvP encounters on top of the UESC enemies already patrolling the area.

Completing Order/Chaos unlocks the next MIDA priority contract in the chain, Protect/Destroy, which is a five-part contract line that spans both Dire Marsh and the Outpost map. MIDA priority contracts are gated behind faction level, so after finishing the initial contracts you'll need to reach level 10 before more become available.
