Greninja’s Mega Stone, Greninjite, is a Ranked reward. You unlock it by playing Z-A Battle Club online Ranked matches during Season 1 and reaching Rank K. Online play opens after Main Mission 3, and this reward is season-gated, so it’s available on the Season 1 ladder rather than free play or offline modes.

Quick steps to unlock Mega Greninja

  • Advance the main story to Mission 3 to enable online Ranked access in the Z-A Battle Club.
  • Make sure your console has an active online membership to enter Ranked modes. If you need to start or renew, join through Nintendo Switch Online at nintendo.com/switch/online.
  • Enter the Season 1 ladder in the Z-A Battle Club and queue for Ranked matches.
  • Climb to Rank K during Season 1. Hitting Rank K unlocks Greninjite for your account.
Tip: You don’t need a perfect win rate. Progress comes from placement and play, not just first-place finishes.

Ranked points system (what actually moves you up)

Ranked uses a point system. You gain or lose points based on where you place (first through fourth) and on specific things you do during a match. That means steady participation and solid in-battle decisions both matter for rank movement. Even if you’re not winning every set, consistent placements and productive turns can keep your points trending upward toward Rank K.

Season timing and what to check if you’re late

Greninjite is tied to Season 1. If you’re playing outside that window, open the Ranked menu and review the current season’s reward track before you commit time. Rewards rotate by season, and similar Rank K requirements appear on other season tracks.

Where other Mega Stones come from (snapshot)

Not every Mega Stone lives in Ranked. Several are tied to the in-game vendor, story beats, or special encounters. Here are notable examples you can plan around:

  • Delphox — Online ranked matches, Season 2 (Rank K required). Story gate: Main Mission 3.
  • Grass/Fighting line — Online ranked matches, Season 3 (Rank K required). Story gate: Main Mission 3.
  • Pyroar — Quasartico Inc. for 240 Mega Shards (available around Main Mission 35).
  • Malamar — Quasartico Inc. for 240 Mega Shards (around Main Mission 35).
  • Dragalge — Quasartico Inc. for 240 Mega Shards (during Main Mission 31).
  • Drampa — Quasartico Inc. for 360 Mega Shards (during Main Mission 10).
  • Falinks — Quasartico Inc. for 360 Mega Shards (around Main Mission 19).
  • Hawlucha — Rogue Pokémon battle (around Main Mission 17).
  • Barbaracle — Rogue Pokémon battle (around Main Mission 22).
  • Zygarde — Main story progression (around Main Mission 37).
  • Eternal Floette — Post-game only after beating the Infinite Royale 15 times (around Main Mission 39).

What you’ll actually get for the climb

Reaching Rank K on the Season 1 Ranked ladder grants Greninjite, the Mega Stone that enables Mega Greninja in battle. The Ranked path is the only route for this item at launch. If Ranked isn’t your usual mode, the point system’s placement and action-based scoring lowers the pressure: it rewards frequent play and competent turns more than flawless streaks.

If Mega Greninja is on your shortlist, start Ranked after Main Mission 3, make sure your online membership is active, and aim squarely for Rank K on Season 1’s track. If the season has moved on, check the current Ranked rewards in-game and plan your targets from there.
