Wild Zone 14 sits inside the Electrical Substation in Lumiose City’s Magenta District. It’s a compact, industrial arena themed around a power plant, and it’s where Ground, Steel, and Electric types share the same turf. To access it, finish Main Mission 19 after reaching Rank D and defeating Ivor. Once you’re in, seven standard species and one guaranteed Alpha are all that stand between you and a clean 100% for the zone.

Unlock Wild Zone 14 (requirements and location)

  • Requirements: complete Main Mission 19, reach Rank D, and defeat Ivor.
  • Where it is: the Electrical Substation inside the Magenta District.

After the mission and rank threshold, the Wild Zone gate inside the substation opens, letting you tackle this power plant–style area at any time.

All Wild Zone 14 Pokémon and spawn conditions

There are seven regular spawns here, plus a guaranteed Alpha. Only one species is time- and weather-locked.

Pokémon Spawn time Notes
Drilbur Day and Night Watch for small dig holes scattered across sandy patches.
Excadrill Day and Night Shares the area with Drilbur; expect it near similar sandy terrain.
Onix Day and Night Standard roam spawn inside the substation grounds.
Aron Day and Night Common Steel‑type presence in the zone.
Lairon Day and Night Roams alongside Aron.
Helioptile Day only Requires clear skies; it will not appear under overcast or rain.
Emolga Day and Night Standard Electric‑type spawn for the area.
Alpha Excadrill Persistent Alpha Guaranteed Alpha encounter within Wild Zone 14.
Tip: If skies aren’t clear, Helioptile won’t spawn. Re-enter when weather improves or return during a clear daytime window to check it off your list.

100% completion checklist (Wild Zone 14)

  • Catch or register all seven regular species:
    • Drilbur, Excadrill, Onix, Aron, Lairon, Helioptile (daytime, clear), Emolga
  • Defeat or catch the guaranteed Alpha Excadrill.
  • Break the boulder obstruction and pick up TM 039 (Discharge) behind a southern building.

That’s the lot for zone completion: seven standard entries, the Alpha, and the hidden TM beyond the boulder.

Helioptile spawn (time-of-day and weather)

Helioptile is the only conditional spawn in the substation. It appears during the day and only under clear skies. If you arrive during clouds, fog, or rain, the slot won’t fill with Helioptile. Come back in clear daylight to find it reliably.

Ground and Steel in the sand: Drilbur, Excadrill, and Onix

The substation’s sandy sections are the tell for the Ground and Steel spawns. Small dig holes pepper these areas, signaling the presence of Drilbur and making Excadrill a natural neighbor. Onix roams the same general yard space and shows both day and night.

Aron and Lairon

Both Steel/Rock lines are regular, all‑day fixtures in the zone’s industrial lanes. If you’re filling Pokédex entries, plan enough time to grab both stages before weather shifts back to non‑clear and you need to recheck Helioptile.

Emolga

Emolga is a straightforward Electric‑type spawn here and isn’t tied to a time window. It rotates through the substation interior alongside the other day/night families.

Guaranteed Alpha Excadrill

Wild Zone 14 includes a persistent Alpha Excadrill. You can target it for an early high‑level Ground/Steel anchor or simply register the Alpha to satisfy 100% requirements for the area. Prepare for a tougher encounter than the regular spawns.

Break boulders to reach TM 039 (Discharge)

The substation hides a TM behind a southern building, blocked by a boulder. Use a Pokémon with a Fighting‑type, Ground‑type, or Rock‑type move to shatter the obstruction and loot TM 039: Discharge. While you’re at it, check behind other buildings after clearing boulders for additional items tucked into the geometry.

Efficient route for the zone

  • Enter during clear daytime to guarantee Helioptile availability; catch it first.
  • Sweep sandy sections for Drilbur and Excadrill, then circle for Onix.
  • Pick up Aron and Lairon as you move between structures.
  • Find and challenge the Alpha Excadrill once you’ve locked the regular spawns.
  • Use a Fighting/Ground/Rock move to break the southern boulder and collect Discharge.

This pass covers every spawn condition and the hidden TM in a single visit, assuming weather stays clear through your Helioptile check.

Once Wild Zone 14 is complete, you’ll have a balanced mix of Ground, Steel, and Electric options plus a powerful Alpha. If you plan to lean into Electric builds, grabbing Discharge here saves time later.
