Furfrou returns in Pokémon Legends Z-A with its full lineup of trims. You won’t see those styles on your own Furfrou until you unlock trimming in Lumiose City, and there are a few short side missions that gate the full set. Here’s how to find Furfrou, unlock the trimmer, and change forms as often as you like.
Find and catch Furfrou (Wild Zone locations)
- Furfrou appears later in the game in Wild Zone 11.
- An Alpha Furfrou can be found in Wild Zone 17.
Catch at least one to get started. If you’re aiming to register every trim in your Pokédex, consider catching several so you can keep multiple styles at once.
Unlock Furfrou trims (Jaune Sector 6 side missions)
Trimming is tied to a series of short missions from an NPC with a Scyther in Jaune Sector 6, just north of the entrance to Wild Zone 11. Each step asks you to demonstrate a specific move on the nearby Substitute Doll so Scyther can learn it.
| Mission | Where | Required move | Example Pokémon that learn it | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Becoming a Furfrou Trimmer | Jaune Sector 6 (north of WZ 11) | Slash | Scyther/Scizor, Charmander line, Skarmory, Gible line, Gallade | Initial trims (Heart, Diamond, Star) |
| Becoming a Pro Furfrou Trimmer | Jaune Sector 6 | Razor Leaf | Chikorita line, Bulbasaur line, Florges, other Grass-types with the move | More trims become available |
| Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer | Jaune Sector 6 | Psycho Cut | Gallade, Kadabra | All remaining trims unlock |
To complete each step, put a Pokémon with the required move in your party, interact with the Substitute Doll next to the NPC, and use the move. After finishing the first mission, the trimmer starts offering style changes; completing the second and third expands the catalog to the full set.
Change Furfrou’s form (cost and repeats)
- After the first mission, you can change Furfrou’s trim at the trimmer in Jaune Sector 6.
- Each change costs 500 PokéDollars.
- You can switch styles as many times as you like.
- Unlocked styles are recorded in your Pokédex.

Do Furfrou trims expire?
In Legends Z-A, the in-game trimming system lets you reapply any unlocked style at any time for a fee. Player reports on whether styles automatically revert to Natural after real-time days are mixed, and there isn’t a consistent in-game notice confirming a timer. If you’re planning to keep a specific look, assume you may need to revisit the trimmer and budget the 500 fee to reapply.
The shortest path is straightforward: catch Furfrou in Wild Zone 11 or 17, clear the Slash demonstration to start styling, then finish the Razor Leaf and Psycho Cut follow-ups to unlock the rest. From there, it’s just 500 per change to cycle through every trim whenever you want.
