What the DLC adds to Lumiose City

Mega Dimension picks up after the main story, as sudden spatial distortions ripple across Lumiose City and open a passage to Hyperspace Lumiose. Your partnership with Team MZ continues into this new space, with the mythical Hoopa suggested to have a role in the events unfolding there.

Progress and play carry over seamlessly: you continue from the same save data used in Pokémon Legends: Z‑A, and the DLC’s story is designed for players who have already finished the base game’s narrative.

New Pokémon and Mega Evolutions

The DLC introduces two newly discovered Mega forms for Raichu:

  • Mega Raichu X
  • Mega Raichu Y

Each form uses a different Mega Stone. Both stones are discovered by progressing through the DLC’s story content, so you’ll unlock these evolutions naturally as you push deeper into Hyperspace Lumiose.

How to start the Mega Dimension story

  • Finish the main story in Pokémon Legends: Z‑A.
  • Update and install the Mega Dimension DLC on your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 system.
  • Load your existing save file; new post‑game objectives tied to the spatial distortions will become available.
Note: You cannot progress the Mega Dimension storyline until the base game’s narrative is complete.

How to claim the Holo‑X and Holo‑Y apparel

You can wear the included outfits during the main game as soon as you unlock character customization (roughly an hour into the story).

  1. Press the X Button to open the main menu.
  2. Press the − Button to open the Outfit & Looks menu.
  3. Select the Holo‑X or Holo‑Y items to equip them.
Tip: If you purchased the DLC before unlocking customization, the items will be waiting in Outfit & Looks the moment that feature becomes available.

Compatibility and requirements

  • Platforms: Compatible with Pokémon Legends: Z‑A and the Pokémon Legends: Z‑A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
  • Save data: Uses your existing save from the base game.
  • Bundle contents: Apparel items and story content are included together and cannot be purchased individually.
