Wild Zone 2 is an early stop on your route through Lumiose City. By the time the story reaches Main Mission 5, the area is available from Vert Plaza in the Vert Sector. It’s a small, circular island with a short bridge, a shallow lake in the middle, and gates at the front and rear — a layout that makes quick sweeps efficient when you’re filling the roster.

All Wild Zone 2 Pokémon, spawn times, and locations

Pokémon When Where to look Behavior and capture notes
Kakuna Day and night Tree trunks around the zone Spawns hanging from trees. Look up and circle the perimeter to spot them quickly.
Patrat Day and night Raised area on the center platform; near the rear gate Often wanders in small groups. If you miss it in the middle, check the path by the back exit.
Binacle Day and night Center of the zone, just after crossing the bridge Usually spawns alone. Walk over the bridge and scan the ground near the lake’s edge.
Staryu Night only In the lake and along its shoreline The most commonly “missing” entry here. Return after dark to see multiple Staryu in and around the water.
Magikarp Day and night (most noticeable by day) In the lake; along the bridge Frequently splashes onto the bridge as you pass, turning it into a near-instant catch.
Budew Day and night Near the front gate; near the rear gate Skittish and quick to flee. Approach slowly or toss a ball from cover to secure it.
Tip: If you sweep clockwise from the front gate — perimeter trees for Kakuna, bridge for Binacle, raised center for Patrat, shoreline scan for water spawns — you can confirm five of the six in under a minute. If you don’t see Staryu, don’t force it; come back at night.

Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 2

Alpha Approx. level When Notes
Patrat (Alpha) 19 Day and night A manageable alpha for early teams. Useful if you want a head start on a strong Normal-type.
Staryu (Alpha) ~30 Night Spawns on a lakeshore. Expect it to outlevel a tutorial-era party; you don’t need the alpha to complete the zone’s checklist.
Magikarp (Alpha) ~32 Day Appears near the same water as Staryu, but during the day. Catching it early can save time evolving a Gyarados later.
Note: Exact alpha levels can vary slightly by encounter, but expect the water alphas to sit around the low 30s — high enough to punish under-leveled teams.

The “missing” Pokémon problem (Staryu at night)

Wild Zone 2 asks you to spot six species, but daytime runs often turn up only five. The gap is almost always Staryu. It doesn’t appear during the day here; return at night and you’ll find multiple Staryu in the lake and along the shore. If a high-level alpha is patrolling the bank, ignore it and target a regular Staryu in the water — you only need a standard catch to tick the box.

TM in Wild Zone 2

This zone hides one early Technical Machine: TM 027 Swift. Search the lower section of the central island and check between the trees and bushes; it’s tucked just off the main path.

Quick checklist to 100% the zone

  • Catch all six species: Kakuna, Patrat, Binacle, Staryu (night), Magikarp, Budew.
  • Grab TM 027 Swift from the lower side of the central island’s brush.
  • (Optional) Log alphas: Patrat, Staryu (night), Magikarp (day).

Because of the small footprint and predictable spawn points, it’s efficient to revisit at night for Staryu and in daylight for a quick Magikarp catch on the bridge. With those two toggled, the rest of the list falls into place fast.
