Bite By Night, the FNAF-inspired asymmetric horror game on Roblox, has officially left early access — and character selection is the single biggest factor in whether you escape or get dismantled. The game currently features four Survivor classes and three Animatronics (killers), each with distinct kits that reward different playstyles. Picking the right one matters far more than raw mechanical skill, especially in higher-level lobbies.
Quick answer: Medic is the strongest Survivor for raw carry potential, Security Guard is the most versatile across solo and team play, and Springtrap is the clear best Animatronic with no close competition at launch.

Bite By Night Survivor Tier List
Survivor rankings shift depending on whether you're solo-queuing into random lobbies or running with a coordinated squad. A character that excels at keeping itself alive may not contribute much to the team's overall objective progress, and vice versa. The rankings below weigh both scenarios, with a slight lean toward solo reliability since most players won't have a premade group every session.
| Tier | Survivor | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| S | Medic | Solo carry, team sustain |
| S / A | Security Guard | Balanced solo and team play |
| A | Fighter | Skilled players, stalling the killer |
| B | Customer | Beginners learning the game |
Medic — S Tier
Medic has two abilities that seem simple but create an enormous survivability advantage. Heal restores 5 HP every 2 seconds to other players, while Self Heal restores 5 HP every 1 second to yourself. That self-healing rate is fast enough to recover from most encounters if you can break the line of sight for even a few seconds. In team play, keeping teammates alive means more bodies working on generators and more targets for the killer to chase — both of which buy you time. The only real weakness is that Medic has no tools for speeding up generator repairs or battery pickups, so your team still needs people doing objective work while you focus on sustain.

Security Guard — S / A Tier
Security Guard occupies a unique spot because it performs well in almost every situation. The Taser charges up over time and fires a stun that gets stronger the longer you hold it, giving you a reliable defensive tool against aggressive killers. Cams lets you look through cameras placed around the map, which is invaluable for tracking the killer's position and calling out rotations to your team. That combination of offensive disruption and information-gathering makes Security Guard the most balanced pick in the game. The tradeoff is that Cams require some setup time and lose value in the endgame when the killer is already on top of your group. For coordinated squads, Security Guard arguably rivals Medic for the top slot.
Fighter — A Tier
Fighter is the only Survivor that can directly engage the killer, and in the right hands, it's devastating. Swing deals a 3-second stun with your axe and applies effects based on accumulated parry charges. Parry lets you deflect an incoming attack for a 2-second stun and one charge. A well-timed parry chain can completely shut down a killer's aggression and buy your team huge windows to complete objectives. The problem is that the timing is punishing — miss a parry, and you're eating a full hit at melee range. Fighter is not recommended for newer players, but experienced ones can make it a game-changer.

Customer — B Tier
Customer is the starter class, and it shows. Pizza heals 20% of your current HP, and Drink gives a temporary speed boost followed by a slowness debuff. Both abilities are self-focused, meaning you contribute nothing to your team's survival or objective completion beyond simply being another body in the match. The self-heal is weaker than Medic's, and the speed boost's slowness penalty can actually get you killed if you misjudge the timing. Customer works fine as a training-wheels class for learning map layouts and killer behavior, but you should transition to another Survivor as soon as you're comfortable.
Bite By Night Animatronic (Killer) Tier List
The killer side has a smaller roster at launch, with three Animatronics that each approach the hunt differently. Springtrap sits comfortably above the other two, though all three are viable — the gap is more about consistency against experienced Survivors than raw power.
| Tier | Animatronic | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|
| S | Springtrap | Versatile, trap-based map control |
| A | Mimic | Mode-switching, stealth and mobility |
| B | Ennard | Deception, minion tracking |

Springtrap — S Tier
Springtrap is the default Animatronic, and it's also the best one. The kit covers every situation a killer needs to handle. Swing deals 34 damage with the axe equipped (28 without it). Remnant Cleaver throws the axe as a ranged projectile that applies a 15-second bleed if it connects, while also changing your moveset and stats. Beartrap places a ground trap that stuns Survivors for 10 seconds — you can have up to three active at once, which lets you lock down key chokepoints near generators or exits. Scream reveals every Survivor's location on the map and regenerates 25 stamina, then transforms into Charge, a forward rush that grabs a Survivor and deals 40% of their current HP. That combination of tracking, area denial, burst damage, and mobility makes Springtrap effective for aggressive rushdown players and patient trap-setters alike. The only limitation is the three-trap cap, which means you need to place them strategically rather than blanketing the map.
Mimic — A Tier
Mimic has the highest raw damage in the game at 44 per basic swing, and its Mode Switch system gives it three distinct forms. Strength is the balanced default. Speed trades 75% of your damage for 15% movement speed and unlocks Leap, a forward dash dealing 25 AoE damage. Stealth reduces damage by 25% but makes you undetectable, unlocking Grab (single-target pull), Drill Stab (25 damage follow-up), and Drill (burrow underground, become invisible, reveal players, deal 38 damage on exit). The ceiling on Mimic is extremely high — a player who can fluidly swap modes mid-chase and use Stealth's Drill to ambush Survivors is terrifying. But that constant mode management is demanding, and Speed mode's stamina penalties can leave you stranded if you misjudge a chase. Mimic rewards practice more than any other character in the game.

Ennard — B Tier
Ennard leans into deception and information. Wire Eyes summons two autonomous minions that roam the map and reveal Survivor positions, giving you passive tracking without needing to use Scream-style cooldowns. Grab extends wires to pull a Survivor toward you from range. Skin Stealer lets you eject a dead player and take their appearance, then choose between Explode (25 AoE damage) or Stab (45 damage lunge that shortens your disguise timer). Against newer players, walking up in a Survivor's skin and detonating is devastating. Against experienced teams who communicate and track their own members, the disguise loses most of its value. Ennard is also heavily ability-dependent — if your minions aren't finding anyone and you can't land Grabs, you're left with a 38-damage basic swing and not much else.
How to Unlock New Survivors and Animatronics
Every character beyond the defaults costs Scraps, the primary in-game currency. You earn Scraps by playing matches on either side, or you can purchase them directly with Robux through the in-game store.
Step 1: From the lobby, tap the Store button in the top-left corner of the screen.
Step 2: Select either the Survivors or Animatronics tab depending on what you want to buy.
Step 3: Pay the listed Scraps cost for the character you want. Once purchased, equip it from your loadout before queuing into a match.

Confirmed Upcoming Animatronics
The developers have confirmed several new killers are in development for post-launch content updates. Marionette is expected to be the first new Animatronic added after release. Mangle, with a unique vent-traversal ability, and Withered Foxy have also been confirmed. Developer posts have additionally indicated that Funtime Freddy and Golden Freddy are planned for the roster, though no specific release windows have been announced for any of these characters. The community has also spotted references to Fredbear on environmental signage within the Facility map, hinting at a possible Nightmare Fredbear addition down the line.
No official dates have been confirmed for any of these upcoming Animatronics. The roster will almost certainly grow significantly over time, which could shift these tier rankings as new matchups and team compositions emerge. For now, mastering the current seven characters — especially Medic, Security Guard, and Springtrap — gives you the strongest foundation for climbing through tougher lobbies.
