Revelry Hall in Where Winds Meet: How the Heroes Assembly arc works

Revelry Hall is the moment Where Winds Meet pivots from wandering swordsman fantasy into a full wuxia power summit. It is both a main story milestone and a compact hub for character drama, scenic challenges, and a few easy rewards.

Where Revelry Hall sits in the main story

Revelry Hall belongs to Chapter Two: Universal Furnace during the “Gathering of Heroes” stretch of the main story. The quest that brings you there is simply called Revelry Hall, and it sits between two other main quests:

Quest Role in sequence Location focus
Out of the Woods: New Arrival in Kaifeng Previous main quest Kaifeng City
Revelry Hall Current main quest Kaifeng & Heroes Assembly boat
Disguise Next main quest Continues the Assembly arc

Revelry Hall itself starts in Kaifeng City. You and Big Zhao (often subtitled Big Joe) have agreed that he will get in ahead of you, find a way into the Heroes Assembly, and meet you there. Your job is to catch up, follow his lead, and let the cutscene carry you into the hall.

Level requirement and when it is “safe” to go

The quest is gated behind a clear level check. You need to reach character level 41 before the main story will continue into Revelry Hall. If you are under that threshold, you will have to:

  • Roam the map around Kaifeng.
  • Complete side stories.
  • Run activities and exploration objectives for EXP.

Once you meet the level requirement and the quest activates, heading to Revelry Hall does not lock you out of Kaifeng’s content. Players who rushed the story toward the hall without clearing every activity in the city reported no permanent missable changes tied to simply travelling there. You can treat the level gate as the only real “are you ready?” check.

Revelry Hall main quest walkthrough

1. Reach level 41

Step 1: Open your character screen and confirm you are at level 41. If not, prioritize side stories and local map activities near Kaifeng until you hit that level. These quickly add character EXP, Enlightenment Points, and exploration progress.

Tip: Treat this as a chance to unlock or strengthen combat and movement abilities. The Revelry Hall sequence is heavy on story and cutscenes, but the broader chapter expects you to be comfortable in combat.

2. Travel to the Revelry Hall rendezvous

Step 1: Once the quest flag is live, follow the main story marker in Kaifeng City. The destination is the dock where the Assembly boat is boarding.

Step 2: At the marked point, you will find Big Zhao and Little Fu. Approach to trigger dialogue.

This scene sets up the core problem: you do not have a ticket to the Heroes Assembly. Big Zhao insists he has “found a way in,” hinting at the plan to slip aboard without an invite.

3. Speak with Big Zhao

Step 1: Interact with Big Zhao to progress the quest objective. He explains the idea of waiting for others to board and then sneaking on with the crowd.

Step 2: Let the conversation play out. The script leans into his overconfidence and the group’s unease about being caught, which pays off in the coming cutscene.

Nothing here is mechanically demanding; just exhaust the dialogue until the objective updates to boarding the boat.

4. Sneak onto the boat for the Heroes Assembly

Step 1: Move with Big Zhao and Little Fu toward the boarding area when prompted. You are attempting to blend with invited guests and Velvet Shade disciples who are checking tickets.

Step 2: As you approach, a boatman and another passenger take notice, and the cutscene shifts into a crowd sequence. You will see several notable figures introduced by name, including:

  • Sangu of the Jade Serpent Hall, once a fierce warrior, now softened by court life.
  • A woman from the inkbound order, outwardly quiet but sharp and dangerous in argument.
  • Funhu from Well of Heaven, who carries himself with open disdain for most around him.
  • The Joyous Couple, notorious cultivators whose Dream Ruthless method leaves them with a reputation for cruelty.

Step 3: Watch the ticket-checking escalate. Velvet Shade disciples mention a second checkpoint for ticket inspections, tightening security. Big Zhao briefly suggests a brute-force solution where one of you takes the hits while the other runs, then backs off once he remembers how strong the disciples are.

Step 4: Stay with the scene as a new figure steps in. This “Ember of East” uses a weight-shifting martial art, answering a taunt about a “Life coin” that supposedly buys a life. The technique flips heavy and light, literally turning the world and flooring the aggressors, which finally clears your way aboard.

From the player’s perspective, this entire sequence is non-interactive. You do not fight or perform stealth inputs; you simply commit to boarding and let the scene unfold.

5. Enter the interior of Revelry Hall

Step 1: After the dock confrontation resolves, the scene moves to Revelry Hall itself. The Ember of East is formally invited to dine, and you are told to make yourselves at home while the feast is prepared.

Step 2: When control returns, follow the updated objective marker deeper into the building. Walking inside Revelry Hall and crossing the threshold is the final trigger for the quest.

Step 3: Step into the hall proper. Once you reach the designated spot, the quest will complete, and the next main quest, Disguise, becomes available, continuing the Assembly storyline.

Revelry Hall main quest rewards

Finishing the Revelry Hall main quest grants a small but tidy set of rewards:

Reward Amount Use
Commerce Coin 50 Vendor and economic interactions
Kaifeng Exploration 20 Progress toward regional exploration milestones
Enlightenment Points 800 Character growth and progression systems
Character EXP 8000 Direct level progression
Coin 8000 General spending currency

These numbers are modest for mid-game, but they stack with the story progression itself, which unlocks more complex situations and future encounters tied to the Assembly.

Revelry Hall as a location and scenic spot hub

Once you are inside, Revelry Hall is more than a backdrop for one cutscene. The space functions as a multi-level venue with NPCs, scenic views, and several activity hooks.

Visually, the hall leans into spring ponds, ornamental bridges, jeweled curtains, gold-embossed decor, and crowded banquet tables. NPCs in later dialogue explicitly call it one of the more striking scenic locations, especially around the dock and the “map of the immortal bridge.”

Within Revelry Hall, you can:

  • Move between multiple floors, including upper balconies and side pavilions.
  • Interact with named NPCs who tie into scenic spot challenges and small narrative vignettes.
  • Trigger bathhouse and lounge scenes that also contribute to region exploration points.

Revelry Hall scenic spot challenges

Separate from the main quest, Revelry Hall hosts a series of “scenic spot” activities that contribute to overall completion. These are lightweight, often social or roleplay-focused tasks that showcase the hall’s setting.

Skyward Dance at Revelry Hall

One of the earliest scenic tasks tied to the hall is Skyward Dance, which is treated as a challenge at the venue’s dock area.

Step 1: Make sure Revelry Hall is unlocked by progressing the story through the relevant questline. Earlier, this is tied to a quest named Shadow in Blooms, which effectively opens the hall as a destination.

Step 2: Switch to multiplayer or online mode through the mode switch option in the top UI. Skyward Dance requires online mode to be available.

Step 3: Open your map and track the Skyward Dance activity marker. Navigate to the dock area where the NPC described as a manager (named Zhu Gulang in subtitles) stands.

Step 4: Talk to the manager and choose to participate in Skyward Dance. The sequence plays out as a choreographed performance to music. Complete it once to finish this scenic challenge.

Story-flavored scenic promises within the hall

Revelry Hall also hides more intimate scenic challenges that play more like short romance or social skits than traditional quests.

Fulfilling the promise with Bang Rong

Step 1: Head to the third floor of Revelry Hall and look for the NPC Bang Rong. Speak with her to begin a promise-oriented interaction.

Step 2: Accept her invitation to her room. The banter leans heavily into flirtation and misdirection, but it serves as the setup for the promise you need to fulfill later.

Step 3: Follow the quest prompt that sends you toward the Radiant Pavilion on the left side of the Revelry Hall map. Bang Rong relocates there, and you must meet her again.

Step 4: When you meet her at Radiant Pavilion, provide the requested item and choose the interaction option referred to as “Flirt while tying hair.” Completing this scene finishes the scenic spot challenge tied to Bang Rong.

Tracking down Hu Ju around the flower shop and pavilions

Another scenic challenge involves a character referred to as Hu Ju, built around a small chain of conversations and locations.

Step 1: Start on the upper levels of Revelry Hall, again around the third floor, and talk to the NPC connected with Hu Ju’s storyline. She will direct you toward a flower shop.

Step 2: Travel to the flower shop she mentions. There, examine a ring that draws attention as particularly beautiful, then ask the shopkeeper about Hu Ju’s whereabouts. You are told to look at Springway Pavilion.

Step 3: Move to Springway Pavilion and speak to Hu Ju. She sends you to a location described in dialogue as “Bustling Abo…ld” and references a flower tree and a bath.

Step 4: Use the bath interaction when available. This interlude contributes a small exploration gain and is part of the chain’s flavor.

Step 5: Continue past the bath to the next area behind it, where Hu Ju is found relaxing by a flower tree. Give her the relevant item to finish the promise and complete the scenic spot challenge.

Completing this chain unlocks a card called Revery of Blossoms and contributes to fully clearing the Revelry Hall scenic set.

Talking with the wayfarer at the dock

Out by the Revelry Hall dock, a seasoned traveller sits with a cup of “drunken immortal” wine. He comments on the spring ponds, banquet lights, and bridges, framing the area as one of the standout scenic maps.

Speaking to him:

  • Gives extra flavor about the economic reality behind the opulence (“none of this comes for free”).
  • Hints at the wider world beyond the hall and Kaifeng, encouraging you to keep travelling.
  • Can lead into additional content such as a poem or card—one example references “Amidst Flowers.”

These interactions underline that Revelry Hall is not just a cutscene trigger but a living social space, worth exploring between main quests.

Once the Heroes Assembly sequence begins, Revelry Hall becomes a narrative anchor that you return to through multiple quests and side vignettes. Clearing the main “Revelry Hall” quest, then looping back later for Skyward Dance and the smaller promises, is an efficient way to see its best moments without worrying about missing out on Kaifeng’s broader content.
