Access the Hidden Maze island
The maze is not on the starting island in Stonewake's Cross. It sits on a separate landmass you can only reach by ferry, and the ferry runs on a special currency called Coinite rather than gold.
Step 1: Spawn into Stonewake's Cross and turn left toward the dock area rather than heading into the main cave or up to the peak. The dock is the only legitimate way to reach the new maze island; trying to swim across the channel will kill you instantly due to a death barrier in the water.
Step 2: Speak to the ferry NPC at the dock. The boat requires 1 Coinite to activate. Once you pay, a short countdown plays out, and the ferry automatically transports you to the maze island.
There is no way to bypass the Coinite requirement. If you do not have Coinite yet, you need to mine it first and then return to the dock.
Farm Coinite to pay the ferry
Coinite comes from red crystals rather than normal stone or ice. Treat it as a side resource farm that you do before or between maze runs.
Step 1: Travel to Raven Cave, which sits beneath the peak near the main forging station. Head under the peak and into the cave system where red crystals are clustered.
Step 2: Mine red crystals inside Raven Cave. Medium and large red crystals have better returns, and you can also find red crystals in the Heart of the Islands area. Any of these can drop Coinite.
Step 3: Once you have at least one Coinite in your inventory, go back to the Stonewake dock. Pay the ferry NPC to cross and start your first maze run.
With steady Raven Cave farming, it is easy to keep a small stockpile of Coinite so you are not blocked from daily maze resets.

That shifting structure makes the maze more like a daily roguelike route than a static dungeon. You are aiming for two anchor points: Fungi's Shop and the angel room branching beyond it.
Follow a reliable maze path toward the angel room
The exact walls change, but the maze uses a consistent directional logic that lets you steer from the entrance toward key areas. A simple route helps you bypass early dead ends and reach the maze’s inner fork, where the Fungi and angel areas split.
Step 1: From the maze entrance on the island, walk straight forward while keeping your compass pointed east. This first stretch is usually linear.
Step 2: Take the first right turn, then another right shortly after. These two rights pull you away from early loops around the entrance.
Step 3: At the next junction, ignore the right-hand branch and turn left. Continue along this corridor; it functions as a one-way path deeper into the maze.
Step 4: When you reach another split, take a left, then another left. This sequence tends to drag you toward the maze’s core rather than peripheral dead ends.
Step 5: Keep walking until you hit a noticeable split ahead. The left-hand branch typically collapses into a dead end, so turn right instead and continue heading east whenever you have a choice.
After this sequence you reach an important fork:
- The path straight ahead leads into Fungi's Shop and its surrounding area.
- The path off to the right leads toward the angel room and Heavenly Pickaxe NPCs.
Fungi's Shop and the angel area are close neighbors in the maze layout. It is often worth stopping at Fungi first before committing to the angel quests, especially if you need potions or a temporary power spike.
Use Fungi's Shop to power up
Fungi's Shop is the maze’s built-in vendor hub, and its stock is tuned around high-level mining and combat. Inventory rotates every few hours, and weapon variants differ in strength even when they share a name, so it is worth checking silhouettes and stat rolls carefully before buying.
Key items include:
- Fungi's Potion for 17,000 gold, which boosts mining speed, mining damage, and luck for a 600-second window. This single consumable is tuned for short, high-yield farming bursts, making it ideal before tackling dense crystal clusters or difficult rocks.
- Several weapons with hidden recipes, such as Executioner Great Axe, Shark’s Fang, Crystallized Broadsword, and Anchor Straight Blade. These introduce additional crafting paths and give you more options for pairing runes and perks with your build.
The shop refreshes roughly every five hours. Because variants matter, treat the silhouettes and stat spreads as an early filter; do not buy solely on name if the underlying roll is weaker than your current gear.
Reach the angel room
The angel room lives deeper in the maze beyond the Fungi fork. It is gated behind a pair of angelic NPCs and serves as the unlock point for the Heavenly Pickaxe.
Step 1: From Fungi's Shop, backtrack to the main maze path and orient yourself to face east again. You want to rejoin the corridor you used to approach the fork.
Step 2: Move east until you hit the next major intersection, then turn right and follow the path south. This turn steers you away from the vendor wing and toward the angel zone.
Step 3: Keep following the corridor, staying generally aligned with the eastern side of the maze. When you reach another split, turn right; the left branch typically ends in a dead end around this depth.
Step 4: At the following junction, turn left instead of going straight. Continuing forward at this point leads you directly into the Heavenly Pickaxe area, where the angel room and its NPCs are located.
Inside this chamber, you find two angel-themed NPCs. They both tie into the same angelic questline and ultimately control access to the Heavenly Pickaxe.
Unlock the Heavenly Pickaxe in the angel room
The Heavenly Pickaxe is the maze update’s headlining tool. It is expensive and quest-gated, but its stats justify the investment for anyone focused on late-game mining and rune optimization.

Step 1: Speak to both angel NPCs in the room. Each offers quest objectives you must clear before the pickaxe becomes available to purchase. You cannot simply walk up to the pedestal and buy it with gold.
Step 2: Complete all quests in the angelic chain. These tasks are designed to push you into deeper content and may involve combat, mining, or specific resource turn-ins, depending on how far you are into The Forge’s overall progression.
Step 3: Once every angel quest is marked as complete, interact with the Heavenly Pickaxe’s purchase prompt. As long as you have 2.4 million gold on hand, you can buy it and immediately equip it as your primary mining tool.
The four rune slots and large luck bonus make the Heavenly Pickaxe a natural endpoint for high-level mining setups, especially if you already invest in rare mining and luck runes from bosses and events.
Maze update rock and enemy changes to plan around
The Hidden Maze update does more than add a new island. It quietly reshapes how fast you can break certain rocks and how dangerous some enemy types are. These changes matter once you have the Heavenly Pickaxe and start pushing new farming routes.
Many ice and red crystal health values have been reduced. For example, icy rocks drop from around 2,400 HP to 2,000 HP, and large ice crystals fall from roughly 27,000 HP to 18,000 HP. Red crystals follow a similar trend, with large red crystals moving from roughly 32,000 HP to 22,000 HP. The practical outcome is simple: high-power pickaxes clear crystals noticeably faster, especially when combined with race bonuses and potions.
New enemies also arrive alongside the maze:
